What a really notice here is how stable your core is at faster paces. By the time I get to 3min paces I'm leaned over and driving my feat down like a sprint (which is exactly what it is) if it wasnt for the background we'd back no idea you were moving faster: your upper body doesn't change at all. Makes me think I need to work on more back and core endurance
@@universenerdd not sure about 3min flat but I can do 2km (1.25mile) in 7mins or 3:30 pace. It's not a sprint but my form falls apart. Then again I've been working on my core so maybe I'll try again after marathon season
@@ricardiumhues 1 mile is not a sprint. One mile is medium distance. The longest sprint distance is 400m, and even then, you have to be a trained sprinter to hold a sprint for that long

@@nivaldolemos5280 He has fast twitch muscles, he is made for sprinting, even so he is an elite athlete with very good cardiorespiratory capacity, he would do a good time in the mile even if he doesn't train for it, but obviously his time would be worse than that of an athlete who has been training for it for years
My 4:00/km looks like I'm on a race track sprinting. I've only ever done sub 20 min 5k twice, and my first 3k's were at 3:45 to 3:59/km pace. Then the fading happened, which brought my overall pace to around 3:59/km. It's very difficult to maintain a hard pace in the 5k. Expect to go slower later on.
This reminds to make an appointment with a running coach. My dead sprint (which I can hold for 100m if I run downhill) is a 4:30. 🐌🙈 On the other note, Andy, you look great! Amazing form!!
Amazing video! It proves how much is important to run with the right posture... And I need to practice more rsrs What's the name of the song in the back?
Stride length is just a side effect of cadence and form. Context, I'm not a fast runner, 21:30 parkruns. But try this... 10 mins on a treadmill at 10kph.... Feels like a nice, easy pace. Switch it up to 15kph for a couple of minutes..... Feels too fast at first but you get into it. Switch back to 10kph, it feels so slow you may fall over. I've incorporated lots of x800 metre sprints on the treadmill at 95% 5k pace, it's really helping me improve parkrun times
3 min km is the only point that it looks fast 😂. Fastest KM I've ever done was a 3:30 and I can hold that around 2km. How these elites hold faster than that for 26 miles just baffles me!
At the olympics, in the women's 5000m race, they run around 3 min/km . When watching it, it looks like they are just jogging so slow and effortlessly. Even this man running 3 min/km looks like he is struggling and nearly sprinting compared to those women. I just don't get it. I was out testing how fast 3 min/km really was. I measured 100m and aimed for 18 seconds (which is 3 minutes per kilometer). And it was not difficult for me to run that fast, and I wouldn't call it sprinting, really, but it was seriously fast. I could probably hold it for 300-400 meters at most... Very hard to understand that the fastest pace in this video is equalivant to the WOMEN'S pace in the olympic 5000m
To my untrained eye, there's not much forward lean and some overstriding in comparison to some other elite runners. Do you feel the same way watching yourself from the sideview?
I found it interesting to watch video like this. My question is… How do you run slow? You are suppose to run slow 80% of the time but how does it look like…. I mean…. When I try to run slow it become something else then running… But Andy runs beautiful in all speeds!!!
I'm a newer runner so most of my runs are run/walks - that works, too! There's a point where it's faster to walk briskly, somewhere around 8 min/km, and I personally find that I can get down to 7:30/k running but anything slower is more comfortable as a walk. Recently I've been lengthening the run segments while keeping an eye on my heart rate, like the other reply says, and watching my time per km come down that way. Best of luck as you find your own easy pace!
If you are new any speed below 4:00/km it's considered risky. Make sure there's enough traction on your shoe's outsole tread. Make sure your path is clear don't wanna end up in a hospital. Best to run them on track.
When I feel like your 5min/km looks I get a 10:30/km. When I feel like your 6/km I enjoy 13:30 times. Guess you're quite a bit more fit than I am, Mr Olympian

Ahah so true!! Until you see a video of yourself and you are like "who's that snail over there... oh wait"
Can somebody please explain to me how his 3:30 pace looks like my 6:30 pace 🤣
Much longer strides, tighter form. The real trick is to train your body to hold at like 80-95% of your fastest speed and then just hold it there
Cadence.
looks about right to me, but maybe cos i'm used to doing strides at that pace
It is like olympian 10km race, they seem like jogging at 1 minute per 400m. :-)
Technique 😂
My 3:30 pace looks like a man running downhill with the wind behind him blowing out of his R's.
Look at those strides. Man I'm barely breathing doing a 6 min pace, and this man is slayin
...And that crazy madman ran 13:48! Great video to show just how fast some people are.
