@@Olympics What happened? Suddenly decided in October 2019 that you should comment to this. And that I should comment back on some comments as well.
"No yooman is limiteh" -- he never said, "human"
Running 41km and still sprinting while smiling. What an Olyimpian. The greatest of all time,
Actually, it's 42,195m, the exact distance of Full marathon.
Just can't imagine he still won tokyo
@@mshayashiTo run 42 km you must first run 41 km. It’s the Intermediate Value Theorem
Eliud Kipchoge has really made me fall in love with Marathons. Wow.
it is very sadness that the most people know him only, since the 1:59 Project
@@kneuper3081 I knew him way before the Marathon he did last year
I learned about him through the breaking 2 project, and it is amazing to see someone with such discipline and perseverance and work ethic. I’m very happy for his success in Vienna.
Kipchoge is ugly though so girls don't care. Stop acting like he's Tom Brady. Tom Brady could break two hours if he wanted to. He'd rather play a real man's sport.
We need hot guys to dominate distance running, or it will never get attention.

33:00 I think the 2-hour barrier for the marathon won't be broken for another 20 years.
Kipchoge: Give me 3 years...
i think he meant in official races.
He had a pacer though I don't think that that's allowed in the Olympics
@Erick Mandujano not just that, the choose the perfect course with no hill had a choice between 3 days to take the one with less wind and perfect temperature or something like that
And not picking up his own drinks but being handed them, and running in the nike shoes
It's probably will be soon but it hasnt yet
This guy has one of the best mindset's.. .. That takes a lot of mental and physical strength.. . He destroyed the race! !!
Unbelievable isn't he, one of the most mentally tough athletes in history, and that is on top of being able to run pretty fast 😯
@@Olympics a true inspiration for all those young athletes out there who think they're not good enough to achieve the impossible.. .. . We can all definitely learn to do it from this man ELIUD KIPCHOGE!
This race needs to show splits. It would make it much easier to tell when they are accelerating
@@alishamills5618 that's a very valid suggestion to make

The commentary here is much better than the one for London 2012.

I'm pretty sure the gold medal means more than anything to him
Eric Capostagno many people have gold medals, some in the marathon, Kipchoge is the only person to cross the 26.2 distance in under 2 hours
probably still is..
@@ericcapostagno3271 I agree. The gold means more because it was a legitimate competition and the biggest stage in athletics, not an exhibition.
Huge props to the guy from North- Korea, not only was he able to hang on to the pack for most of the run, but he placed fairly high aswell, with a pretty good time. North-korea doesnt have the facilitys to train these athlete. and the guy probably never had any real experiences of a marathon, like in the crowd and the atmosphere in the pack.. so huge props bro, saw u collapse near the finish. Kipchoge has repeated this stunt again today in Tokyo. But it was legendary considering that between 30-35KMs, he averaged 2.54mins/KM. An absolute monster!

The commentator at 2:35:00.. "The only thing that over took kipchoge was the realization he was the Olympic champion, none of his opponent's did".. Was a hilarious comment.
Hilarious and true comment. Kipchoge won 10 of his 11 marathons and he’s been untouchable after Rio.

I have searched for this for years religiously and finally here we are. So unfair for you to have kept it to yourself all this time.
All in all, Eliud Kipchoge, the legend.
Marathon is the real race of the olympics...Its the event where it all started

This is one sports where participating and just finishing counts. You get a medal just for finishing.
I watch this for the second time, this is the best marathon visual capture of all time. Camera work, color gradation, all those slow motion shots, scenery, overall vision of how to show what running is about- it's a masterpiece.

1:56:20 - "Don't clip my heels, bro. You wanna ignore me? Fine, enjoy losing".
What a ballsy race from Galen Rupp. To hang on the shoulder of Eliud Kipchoge when it's only your second time racing this distance? Gotta hand it to him, what a competitor.
I was watching the race and thinking wait is that RUPP? that looks just like him. Then I checked it up he got only 5th at 10000 and tried out the marathon and got third. WOW!
Eliud Kipchoge's under 2hrs run was truly legendary. ⚡⚡🔥👌

Watching these guys finish the way they did, especially the last few finishers, I have more respect for how they finished the race. I know what that is like because I had to experience limping across the line, too. It's painful because you're literally giving all you have, and by the time you cross that line, you have nothing left. These runners are all great at what they do.

Its experience now. If you have watched many of these you can tell when they run 2:50, 2:55 or 2:48
I agree, except with over 100 runners it's just very difficult to get all of that info on the screen. Even when the lead pack was down to 10-20, splits are tough to report.
Beat the world records by over a minute! Won in both olympics with a margin of over a minute! He is the greatest marathon runner in my opinion. I hope he gets a three peat Paris 2024 and then, there should be no dispute he is the GOAT!
I cannot think of any top athlete, who would have trained as well as Kipchoge.
He has only ever lost one marathon, that he has competed in, the rest, he won pretty convincingly.

Kipchoge after running 2.5 hrs easily celebrate wining

The reason why the Kenyans and the Ugandans were sharing the water bottles is because they all come from a single tribe. It is just the borders of the two nations that distinguishes them. However, they are all from the tribe the Kalenjins so they understand one another easily when they talk. Just putting this information out there.
