I watch this for the second time, this is the best marathon visual capture of all time. Camera work, color gradation, all those slow motion shots, scenery, overall vision of how to show what running is about- it's a masterpiece.

Huge props to the guy from North- Korea, not only was he able to hang on to the pack for most of the run, but he placed fairly high aswell, with a pretty good time. North-korea doesnt have the facilitys to train these athlete. and the guy probably never had any real experiences of a marathon, like in the crowd and the atmosphere in the pack.. so huge props bro, saw u collapse near the finish. Fighting till the end... (Yes, north korea bad, but this guys spirit good!)
My respect for takizaki is way over the top and all there. As long as they did it when I can't even take 7 steps to my house..... RESPECT. But my Kipchoge he made our whole country proud. Watching these guys finish the way they did, especially the last few finishers, I have more respect for how they finished the race. I know what that is like because I had to experience limping across the line, too. It's painful because you're literally giving all you have, and by the time you cross that line, you have nothing left. These runners are all great at what they do.

What a ballsy race from Galen Rupp. To hang on the shoulder of Eliud Kipchoge when it's only your second time racing this distance? Gotta hand it to him, what a competitor.
I was watching the race and thinking wait is that RUPP? that looks just like him. Then I checked it up he got only 5th at 10000 and tried out the marathon and got third. WOW!
It's so inspiring to see these guys pushing themselves so hard. I stopped running for a while and lost my ability to run up this couple hundred-foot hill near my place in one go but I remember now how I pushed through the incredible pain the first few times and wanna try to get it back.
Kipchoge has repeated this stunt again today in Tokyo. But it was legendary considering that between 30-35KMs, he averaged 2.54mins/KM. An absolute monster!
I cannot think of any top athlete, who would have trained as well as Kipchoge. He has only ever lost one marathon, that he has competed in, the rest, he won pretty convincingly. He was odds on favorite, to win his Olympic title, and he achieved that in style.
Watching this for the second, maybe third time, I am amazed at the difference in finished between Kipchoge and Lilesa and Rupp. While Kipchoge accelerated to the finish, the other two were struggling to not have to sprint - so tired and all. Number 4 sprinted and so sad, but that's marathon. Congratulations to all marathon runners. you inspire us all.
I agree, except with over 100 runners it's just very difficult to get all of that info on the screen. Even when the lead pack was down to 10-20, splits are tough to report.

Really proud of Lilesa for that 2nd place finish they were having protests in Ethiopia about not selecting Bekele and how it was a ripoff to choose Lilesa but he did a spectacular job for the silver medal 🥈
