A lot of this movie was filmed in my town. The field where they played the world series is still an active field, the bar that they snuck out to is about a 5 min drive from where I grew up. Tom Hanks stayed in a house that's 2 doors down from my church, and sometimes you would see him cutting the grass like anyone else. He was a class act and never acted like a big star. I was in the stands as an extra during the World Series scene. I was just a kid at that time, but I will never forget the fun I had just being there and seeing Tom Hanks chase that kid around with a bat....Good times

Fun fact: the actress who played Marla, Megan Cavanaugh, did all her own hitting. All the actors had to know how to play ball but they had a couple stand-ins for hitting scenes when they needed something specific. Cavanaugh never needed a stand-in.
Geena Davies had a stand in for the scene when he does the splits and catches the ball. She could do the splits but not run and do the splits. She could only do them standing still. So if you watch carefully a stunt double runs and starts the splits then they cut to Gina standing still doing the splits. There is a great reunion UA-cam video of most of the actresses talking about the film. Gina talks about the scene where the ball rolls out of her hand. Was it on purpose or an accident? She gives her view.

I can't decide if Dottie dropped it on purpose or not. She was very competitive. She told the pitcher how to throw high ones so Kit would strike out. She wasn't giving Kit a break there. She was surprised when Kit hit that ball hard. Maybe Kit just made a great play. Or maybe Dottie gave it to her.
One of the best chick flicks you will ever see and it's based on a true story. Some of the names were changed, but some of the characters are all based on real people. They actually brought in Madonna as a gimmick to try to bring in audiences, even having her sing the title song, The Used To Be My Playground, but as it turned out, she gave one of her best performances here and had good chemistry with Rosie O'Donnell. Some of her lines are priceless and she delivers them really well. If you want to see more of Kit AKA Lori Petty, she had a starring role in a 90s comic book movie called Tank Girl. It's very 90s and hit and miss for some people, but it has some funny moments, including a surprise appearance from rapper Ice T as a kind of rapping kangaroo jack.
And we had seen her keep hold of the ball in an earlier scene. But still, it wasn't like she gave the game to Kit: She batted the ball at Kit; she said to pitch high fast balls because Kit couldn't lay off them and couldn't hit them; and she was honestly shocked when Kit hit the ball. I'm pretty sure that the letting go of the ball was almost spontaneous.
@melenatorr really good points that I agree with. She didn't give her the game. She challenged her, made her work for it & show that she had the heart & skill to be great. Which Kit ultimately did. But, in my heart, I believe it still wasn't enough. Knowing that Kit gave her everything & it still wasn't enough in the championship game - Dottie knew she wouldn't be able to handle a defeat of that magnitude. So she did the truly selfless & loving act of dropping that ball.
I tend to disagree with this view it goes against everything that Dottie is as a character she is very much earn what you get person and she constantly challenges kit every step of the game even tells her pitcher her weekness for high fastballs. I believe she gave it everything she had and kit just came out on top

Just to name a few. Keep up the great work man.
Tom's scene in the locker room when he first walks in that Madonna was timing was actually improvised. Director Penny Marshall was off-camera using a hose to put water in a bucket and stopping at random times. Tom just did what Tom does best... Also the scene right after Marla got on the train was cut because as Penny Marshall said it was a "warm" scene. Unfortunately UA-cam deleted that clip. It is hilarious. If you can find it somewhere, it's worth watching. The way she eats on the train is epic.

I tend to disagree with this view it goes against everything that Dottie is as a character she is very much earn what you get person and she constantly challenges kit every step of the game even tells her pitcher her weekness for high fastballs. I believe she gave it everything she had and kit just came out on top
A few other baseball movies you should check out, Leo:
Angels in the Outfield (1951)
The Bad News Bears (1976)
Mr. Baseball (1992)
The Sandlot (1993)
Bad News Bears is a must!!!
Leo's has already seen Major League.
Sandlot!
@@BradMyers-e8e Thanks for the heads up, removed it, and added a few other ones.
Field of dreams
FOR THE LOVE OF THE GAME
Bro, you gonna destroy your dvd player with how many movies you watch. Mans on fire with the uploads. Much love Leo!
One of my favorite baseball movies. Thank you for reacting to this.
The woman that can’t read in the beginning makes me cry every time. I find so much value and enjoyment in reading, it is physically painful for me to see people that can’t read. I also lose it when betty gets her husband notice… i can’t imagine how devastating that would be. This is one of my fav movies. I grew up on it. Love your reaction.
Happy 4th Leo! Enjoy the day!
"May's good at catching balls" 🤣
Happy 4th! 🎉 super stoked to see this classic!!!!!!!! My sister and I still ask “has anyone seen my new red hat?” Bc we always thought that was funny for some reason! But this cast and story are a dream! Classic and so rewatchable!
Oh piss on your hat
"I'm impressed the hats stay on!" Lol, it's called hat pins, sir! In the 1800s, they stabbed perverts with them!
So multifunctional!
@@debbyemerson3877 😅
Every reaction to this movie that I've seen people are impressed about the hat lol
Perverts and the occasional wrestler. 😁😁😁😁
One of my fave reaction movies 👍🏼
“There’s no crying in baseball!!” Love Hanks’ performance in this.
This is one of my favorite movies of all time tbh.
I love this movie. The ending when you find out how they lived their lives always makes me tear up.
Major League is another gem.
Wow same day recording? #blessed Thank you Mr. Video! :)
This is one of them gems of a movie, because its based on actual true events. If you enjoyed this movie, and haven’t seen these I highly recommend them. Major League 1 & 2, Sandlot (early 90’s) Rookie of the year, Little Big League, field of Dreams, Mr 3000, 42 The Jackie Robinson Story (Based on true events) 61 (Based on True Events), Mr Baseball (Tom Selleck), The Scout (Brandon Fraser) and Angels in the Outfield (Danny Glover). Just to name a few. Keep up the great work man.
Great reaction Leo! Of all the accolades Tom Hanks has, this is my favorite performance of his. And avoiding the Clap is still good advice 🤣.
Great choice!
Theresss no crying in baseballl!
Please do many many more reactions!! I miss the ones that aren't available 😭
Why does Tom Hanks pee in all his movies?
@@shannonallen2993 When ya gotta go, ya gotta go. :)
Ahhhhhhhh OMG it's so nice for you to react to this movie.🎉
Even if you're not a huge baseball fan Cooperstown is a must visit wonderful amount of history there and also great ballparks I've played there a few times on my traveling All Stars team
A classic!
This movie is a 10 out of 10; it’s a perfect film. It is just as much fun to watch the 100th time as it is the first time.
One of my favourite movies of all time!
Please react to 'Steel Magnolias' 1989 and 'Fried Green Tomatoes' 1991.
I think he would love both of these! Leo's got a lot of heart!
A League of Their Own is in a league of its own!!! This Tom Hanks film along with Catch Me If You Can, The Burbs, Forrest Gump and The Terminal are terrific!!!
Yes! That's a real bruise!

I love this movie and got to see it in the theater back in the day. A great sports movie!
Man, I haven't seen this movie in years! Maybe since it first came out. And now I want to see it again. What a fun reaction this was.
"Kit you won something, you got on the train first." I died. Thank you for that one lol

2:00 Ladi Dadi we like to party
We ain't cause no trouble and we ain't bother nobody!
Thanks for that awesome memory!
Great movie. Lots of hilarious lines 😂
The ladies at the end playing ball were the ones left of the real players in the Girls League.
Leo that’s Jon lovitz the peeper in window in little Nicky! He’s hilarious
So when i first saw this, I was a kid and Kit was my favorite character. Now, Dottie is who I relate too. it's it a stage of life kind of thing, I think. And Dottie definitely dropped the ball on purpose.
The announcer was Squiggy from Lenny and Squiggy!! If you’re old you know!❤
Happy 4th Mr Video. Great movie and reaction! I’m only gonna say it one more time because third time’s a charm: “Revenge of the Nerds” was made for you.
Hey Leo, I hope you had a great 4th of July. I love this movie!! It's so good!! ❤🇺🇲
Player with the bruised leg....that was real. They were really out there and they had full on tryouts for the game itself. Even for those in the main roles. Freakin' fun movie. So rewatchable like The Sandlot. I watch it maybe once a year. Lay off those high ones bruh. : ) Great reaction.
One of my favorite movies. Thank you for the reaction.
I've enjoyed your videos for years. I appreciate your time, your efforts, and your thoughts in making content.
Love your stuff. Keep it up!
"Will you SHUT UP!!????" at the cow is hilarious!
John Lovitz as the recruiter in this is awesome😂
tom hanks said in an interview that this was his favorite movie to film.
Geena Davis and Samuel L Jackson do a action comedy movie together 1996 The Long Kiss Goodnight. Samuel L Jackson has said this is his favorite movie of his. It's got some great one liner's. Check it out. Happy 4th of July, grape freeze pop is a classic 😀
I LOVE that movie!!
The Peaches played at our field in Huntingburg Indiana for the movie, League Stadium,
Evansville IN too, Bosse Field.
One of my all-time faves!
Absolutely loved this presentation - fantastic vid sir 👍👍👍
The old ladies playing in the beginning were the actual players this is based on
The end always gets me.that scene with the grown up son 😢. Great reaction
You've seen so many 90's classics on this channel. I saw this one in the theater as a kid like so many others. A fantastic comedy/feel good film with Tom Hanks, Jon Lovitz, and Geena Davis in their primes.
