In the original script of Mrs. Doubtfire Robin Williams & Sally Field characters got back together instead of actually divorcing but Williams & Field where against doing the film that way because they where afraid it would give kids whose parents are going through this false hope so they rewrote the ending.
They made the right choice. Seeing this as a kid with separated parents made me feel like my family wasn't so strange, and that it was normal to have difficult feelings about it.
It would have been a happier ending but they are so right that sometimes things can still work out better for everyone if they stay separated and give kids of divorce parents a movie to relate too
My parents were separated when I was kid as well that's why I work so hard for my own marriage to work for my children my mom and dad would fight so much and when they finally separated they couldn't stand each other and now they still can't stand each other
@@JessicaMcArthur-hj9jrAs long as you're getting along for real and not doing the "stay together for the kids" act, as children can see (and FEEL) through that; they may go on to remain in relationships that aren't healthy if they had that example.

yeah one of the reasons this movie was good, IMO, is that it was grounded and courageous enough to show that... most of the time... people who get divorced or even break up don't actually get back together and you gotta figure out a way to move on, in stead of falling into the typical Hollywood cliché of every couple always finding their way back to each other.
In real life, it would have been better if they’d worked through their differences and stayed together. Even in the movie there were no real grounds for divorce. Still a great movie though.

Society definitely needs divorce. People shouldn't be forced to endure unhappy or abusive situations. Life goes on. People change. Obviously, it's not a goal to get divorced, but it has to remain an option.
That’s just an opinion not backed up with any facts. The stats actually tell a different story. Single motherhood has exploded, fatherless homes are the norm and then we wonder why kids have issues.
Divorce used to be stigmatized but now it's glamourized, which has had a horrible effect. I would have agreed with you at one point but now I'm not so sure. Yes, Daniel WAS making her a bitch. The birthday party, for example. He didn't talk to her. In fact, went directly against her rule of not having a party due to the son's grades. He throws this huge party with animals, kids on couches etc. He was not paying attention to the party so it went crazy to the point neighbours were calling her AND the police. And she arrived home, after a long day at work, to a party she had to stop, animals she had to handle, a house she had to clean. He could have talked to her, they could have done a small party if he had convinced her to. With people actually paying attention. Him going against her was undermining her as a parent while also forcing her, yet again, to be the strict parent who doesn't know how to have fun. Which she would be perfectly capable of if she wasn't constantly cleaning up after his fun. He was acting like a child. She was a single mum of 4. This happens to a lot of women because a lot of men refuse to be parents even within a marriage. All the parenting is on the shoulders of the mother. And parenting isn't all fun and games. There's responsibilities, there's rules, there's having to take care of the kids, having to get them to study, etc. He was all rules as Mrs. Doubtfire. He invested his energy in the home as Doubtfire. If he had been acting like that before the divorce, she wouldn't have had to divorce him. You can be funny and fun, and adventurous whilst being reasonable too. But for him it was all fun, fun, fun. He gets to treat the kids to all the stuff mum forbids behind her back while she is seen by the kids as the mean, rule making parent. It's utterly unfair. I mean you can only argue with a person who refuses to listen for so long until you've just got to give up.

This movie is amazing showing the flaws in both Robin and Sally’s characters. Daniel was childish, irresponsible (regarding chores and decent upkeep of the household; basically minor necessities of living) he wasn’t awful or terrible, just not the best husband. Miranda was definitely noticeably jealous of Daniel’s relationship with their kids, and it shows a lot, but she’s a good mother, albeit a little selfish (all she had to do was give him a chance to improve and be able to see the kids; as it’s very clear the kids would definitely motivate him to do so) and she’s also a woman who wants a man who actually cares about her. So Daniel may be a terrific father, but as a husband it was clear they were better off apart.
@@conwaystern4371 FURIOUS sure, i GUESS, even though it was the kid's birthday. didnt even give him the chance to clean it up, just said "that's it, i'm done" right then and there, on the kid's birthday no less. it's selfish of her at the end of the day to break up the whole marriage without even giving it a chance to get better with counseling.
@@conwaystern4371 well it would've helped if they did show it, but i'm STILL seeing her as someone who went WAY too far and didnt care about who was hurt until the damage was done. "Happy Birthday, your parents are divorcing each other."
Natalie(Mara Wilson) was in Matilda and also "A Simple Wish". She also was the voice of Mrs Mayberry in "Helluva Boss", as a reference to Miss Honey from the 1990s movie.
If Daniel was pulling his weight and doing all the things that he was doing as Mrs. Doubtfire, they would probably still be together. I can see why Miranda left him tbh.
I remember this movie from when I was a child, it's been sooo long since I've seen it. I was hesitant to watch this because Robin Williams reminds me of my dad so much, and is also passed.. 42:25 Why? Stu wasn't a bad guy at all here. And fyi, they were going to make a sequel, the idea being Lydia went off to college and Daniel brings back Mrs. Doubtfire as a way to keep an eye on her. But after Robin's passing those plans were scrapped. Let's be honest no sequel or remake would ever work without Robin may he R.I.P.
Would love a reaction to It Follows this October. 1million budget. 200% over at box office. 95% score Rotten Tomatoes. Great, absolutely terrifying! LOVE Ya Leo!!!
My favourite actor of all time. Whenever I watched one of his movies growing up, I would just feel happy. I don't know how else to explain it. It makes me really sad to hear that he was battling with depression and alcoholism etc. Apparently he didn't have the nicest childhood. I never met him, but I miss him. RIP.
Robert Prosky is the actor playing Jonathon Lundy. He was in Rudy, which I think you've recently reacted too. He was also the Judge in Miracle on 34th Street. He's also in the Natural with Robert Redford. He passed in 2008.
If you reversed the roles in this movie, all the men who claim this is a mens rights movie would have been 100% behind the mom losing custody. that so many think of Sally Fields character as a villain in this movie is astounding. Just how much BS are people supposed to put up with before they put a stop to it? Man had the skills and drive to be a good father and husband the entire time and just couldn't be bothered until the chips were down. And even then, instead of taking his three months to improve himself, he used it to commit fraud, contempt of court, stalking and other crimes.
Oddly enough Robin signed on to do a legacy sequel to this right before he passed, I can't help wondering what the plot would have been because this story is so self-contained I don't know how you could logically follow it up.🤔
LEO!! I’m so late to this video but between work and sleep I couldn’t. I needed to give you my undivided attention. It’s Friday and I’m chilling after work, so it is time❤
This movie came out when I was a kid. But honestly this movie was pivotal for me and my son when his dad and I were getting divorced. Not so much the biased custody arrangement. But more my son seeing that there can be good coparenting and relationships at the end.
I love this film. Love your reactions ❤️ What is so sad I think about this film is in reality it brings it home that there are many women out there, and some men, who will use the children as weapons and go to extreme lengths alienating a parent from their children for revenge and spite which is so very wrong and very damaging to a child. A child benefits greatly having both a mother and a father.
Same lol. Of course, it's easy to side with Robin Williams no matter what character he's playing because he just has a lovable nature about him. But definitely understand the mom's situation more as an adult
That's weird, I didn't really think of the mom as a villain when I was a kid, I thought well he did destroy her house. My mom would have whooped my behind if I did that, so divorce made perfect sense. However when I watched it as an adult and realized that the Very Rich Stuart Dunmire asks for her by name, then the over the top party is too much? I'm fairly certain this wasn't the first over the top party he threw. And she admitted she never talked to him about any of her concerns. So he just thought he was the fun parent, he had no clue his wife was thinking of leaving him. So needless to say I'm a lot more cynical of her motives these days then I used to be.
Her wanting a divorce from someone who’s willing to put in the work on the marriage is pretty selfish. Honestly, she’s more the badguy to me now 😂 they could have gone to counseling and been fine. Divorce shouldn’t be an option unless there’s abuse or infidelity.
No happy marriage ever end in divorce. If there’s a divorce, there’s a reason. As a child that had my parents back and forth, married 3 times, I will tell you that if they aren’t happy, it’s a very toxic environment. Let them be happy, even if it means divorce. I still think you should try and try to make it work, but if it doesn’t work anymore, then staying together unhappy isn’t good for anyone. I however have learned from my parents, and am 17 years in a happy marriage, and I plan on until death do us part 😊
I think it's interesting how you understand Daniel's "I'm addicted to the kids" but when Miranda is expressing how she feels its "see, women are too emotional." You did make some effort to understand Miranda's view, but I think you could benefit from digging a little deeper when focusing on the women in these films because they do seem to get less understanding than men and are kind of brushed away as a stereotype. I really enjoy watching your videos so please take this as constructive criticism from someone who wants to see you succeed and not a hater 🧡
The casual misogyny took me by surprise, but I've only seen a couple of his other videos where he seemed nice. I won't be watching his content anymore. Very few people are calling him out for this.

It's time to watch "What dreams may come", my favourite movie with Robin Williams!
Damn Mr video you look majestic😮💨😮💨still remember when you just started🤣I love coming back you’re like an old friend who actually remains themselves
In Miranda’s defense, the mobile petting zoo was a WAYYYY TOO much. My momma would’ve been PISSED if her flowers were ate up 😂😂😂😂
hell no, you're defending THAT?? you go and have 3 kids with someone, and THAT is grounds for a divorce?? stay single, that's where you belong.
@@UltimateGamerCC well damn 🤣🤣🤣 I mean she was in her right to be furious 🤷🏽♂️
@@conwaystern4371 FURIOUS sure, i GUESS, even though it was the kid's birthday. didnt even give him the chance to clean it up, just said "that's it, i'm done" right then and there, on the kid's birthday no less. it's selfish of her at the end of the day to break up the whole marriage without even giving it a chance to get better with counseling.
@@UltimateGamerCC he wasn’t supposed to have a party in the first place 🤣 and there’s a whole backstory to this that they don’t show in the film 🤣🤣🤣🤣
Bro, you're really not thinking about the consequences of taking divorce away when you say it shouldn't exist.
Freaky man drive the bus 😂😂😂 and here I thought he was being cute 😂😂
If Daniel was pulling his weight and doing all the things that he was doing as Mrs. Doubtfire, they would probably still be together. I can see why Miranda left him tbh.
I love this movie!
And what you learn at the end is very important.
Thanks for the Reaction!
*grabs towel*
“I’m not a Muslim.”
🤣
I remember seeing a fan made trailer of Mrs Doubtfire, which turns out to be a creepy thriller. Wouldn't mind seeing that version.
This movie is absolutely fire. In my teens this was one of my favorite comedy movies
22:05 lmao 🤣🤣
Hey freaky man drive the bus!!! 😂😂😂
I remember this movie from when I was a child, it's been sooo long since I've seen it. I was hesitant to watch this because Robin Williams reminds me of my dad so much, and is also passed.. But I always love and enjoy a Mr. Video upload, would never miss it :) Love and appreciate your humor and energy so much, you are my favorite youtuber! Can't wait to see you continue to grow and see what's next! :)
OH Hell yeah finally you react to this legend movie
Would love a reaction to It Follows this October. 1million budget. 200% over at box office. 95% score Rotten Tomatoes. Great, absolutely terrifying! LOVE Ya Leo!!!
“I don’t do windows, I don’t do cleaning, I don’t do cooking………”
Leo: Then get the F out 😂😂😂😂😂😂
An absolute masterpiece of a movie!
Robin Williams was a genius
Childhood classic!
One of my favs
Hey Leo! Missed you man! I couldn’t click fast enough when I saw you were reacting to one of my favorite movies!! 🫶🏾
My favorite Robin Williams movie! I definitely recommend watching birdcage and death to smoochy. Comedy gold!
RIP.
Love this movie! Childhood classic
The ending Always makes me cry 😢
Same
"Better lay off the booze...you might make a mistake."
Buckle up, Leo.
Robert Prosky is the actor playing Jonathon Lundy. He was in Rudy, which I think you've recently reacted too. He was also the Judge in Miracle on 34th Street. He's also in the Natural with Robert Redford. He passed in 2008.
The old man was the protectionist in The Last Action Hero with Arnold Schwarzenegger.
5:35 I mean, the murder rate would go up 😂
Yes! KAMALA 24! 😂
Growing up is realising Miranda didn’t do anything wrong
If you reversed the roles in this movie, all the men who claim this is a mens rights movie would have been 100% behind the mom losing custody. that so many think of Sally Fields character as a villain in this movie is astounding. Just how much BS are people supposed to put up with before they put a stop to it? Man had the skills and drive to be a good father and husband the entire time and just couldn't be bothered until the chips were down. And even then, instead of taking his three months to improve himself, he used it to commit fraud, contempt of court, stalking and other crimes.
Trust me, you need to watch Candyman (1992) before October is over
Oddly enough Robin signed on to do a legacy sequel to this right before he passed, I can't help wondering what the plot would have been because this story is so self-contained I don't know how you could logically follow it up.🤔
This is a great movie glad to see you react to this
LEO!! I’m so late to this video but between work and sleep I couldn’t. I needed to give you my undivided attention. It’s Friday and I’m chilling after work, so it is time❤
I really love that you have the L shaped grey couch back!!!!!
Robin Williams didn't want to give kids false hope that divorced parents always get back together.
Love Mr Video👊
Almost 200k Leo!
My favorite scene is when Robbin Williams and Matt dancing to Jump Around
I just have to say this movie hits differently when you are married and have kids and go through problems that either ends or nearly ends in divorce
You may know his boss from the Stephen King movie Christine. He played the junkyard owner. Hello from sunny Florida 🌞🌴
Are you ok due to the recent hurricane??
@johnmguzman7491 yes, thank you. We weren't in it's path.
Miranda clearly has obvious reasons to be pissed at some of his behavior. But holy hell the punishment simply does not fit the crime here.
Robin Williams was trying to make Pierce Brosnan break character with the double entendres.
As a kid the mom seemed to be the bad guy...as an adult I can understand her more.
I'm the same. Before the divorce, Daniel meant well but really was a manchild. Wouldn't be easy to live with.
Divorce shouldn’t be an option unless there’s abuse or infidelity.
nah, she completely overreacted the whole damn movie until the end when she realized how far she was going.
There will never be another robin Williams ever!
I'm old enough to remember Robin Williams from Mork and Mindy. He's super talented, but I was never a big fan of his. This movie is hysterical though.
9:08
Pierce Brosnan (James bond)
This is perfect 💗.
I think it's interesting how you understand Daniel's "I'm addicted to the kids" but when Miranda is expressing how she feels its "see, women are too emotional."
You did make some effort to understand Miranda's view, but I think you could benefit from digging a little deeper when focusing on the women in these films because they do seem to get less understanding than men and are kind of brushed away as a stereotype.
My marriage is on hiatus right now and moving towards over, since you asked lol.
