DCS: AH-64D | TADS to FCR Target Slaving, SHOT Page, and FCR Target Points

NOTE 1. Yes, we plan to allow George to engage with the FCR, but only after we complete FCR development. Also, once the FCR is complete, we will add new datalink functions between aircraft. For now, AH-64D to AH-64D datalink is multiplayer-only.

In this DCS: AH-64D video, we’ll discuss sending and receiving attack results over the datalink for better coordination between flight members. Once the battle is over, the flight lead can collect BDA Reports, or Battle Damage Assessments. As you probably noticed, each time you fire a missile, a green X appears on the FCR page, and on the TSD page if you have it set to Attack phase. These represent target locations that have been engaged with missiles, which you then review on the TSD SHOT page. It’s important to understand that these reports only indicate that a missile has been fired at a target, it does not indicate if the target was actually destroyed. In the second half of this video, we’ll discuss how to set FCR contacts as Target Points and ways to slave the TSD to an FCR-identified target.
To view my own SHOT file, I’ll press COORD at T5, then press SHOT at T6. Each target location that I shot a missile at will display its corresponding target symbol, the missile type as RF for a radar-guided missile, SAL for a laser-guided missile, the time that I launched the missile, and the coordinates of the target.
Note that these locations are recorded for all missiles, regardless of whether they were radar-guided or laser-guided variants, and regardless of whether I engaged with the FCR or the TADS. However, an Unknown square symbol will always be displayed for any engagements that are performed using the TADS, since only the FCR is able to classify a target type.
If I want to send my SHOT file to another flight member, I can do so on the TSD Report page. I select the main TSD page, select RPT at T1, and select BDA at L1. I have several options to choose from. I can send my own SHOT file to my Primary members by selecting OWN, or I can send ALL SHOT files on board my aircraft. When ALL is selected, the BDA report will include my own SHOT file as well as any other SHOT files that I’ve received from other flight members, allowing me to forward them to other flights as necessary.
Alternatively, I can request a BDA report from my teammate in the other aircraft, which I’ll do by toggling the MSG type from SEND to RQST (Request), select his callsign, and then press SEND. His system will automatically send me the data in reply to my request. Now, you can see additional green X symbols that are displayed in a dim green, which represent the locations that he has engaged.
If I return to the SHOT page, I can now see entries that are labeled as “DL”, for datalink SHOT files, in addition to my own SHOT file entries labeled as “OWN”. If I wanted to delete any SHOT file entries received over the datalink, I can press the DEL button on the left side. But I can’t delete any of my own.
I also want to go over how to store FCR targets as TSD Target points. This can be particularly useful if you intend to gather reconnaissance data on enemy positions which you intend to send to other AH-64D’s or to bring back with you for follow-on missions. Since the FCR data is overwritten after each scan, storing FCR targets in this manner can be a small but crucial capability that can pay dividends for large-scale missions.
You could also slave the TADS to the Target point to visually see if the target was destroyed. The FCR has no idea of a detected unit is destroyed or not.
The quickest way to store TSD targets from the FCR data is by pressing the TGT, or Target, button at L4 on the FCR page. When this is opened, the first Target point index that is unoccupied will be displayed on the right. I could cursor-select each FCR target I wish to store, but I’m in a hurry so I’m just going to select ALL and the entire 16 target shoot list is now stored, which is reflected in the list on the right.
Note that this function will only work if there are unoccupied Target points between T01 and T49. If T01-T49 are already occupied by target or threat points, FCR targets cannot be stored using TGT on the FCR page. - Ігри

Awesome news, Wags! On that note with the FCR, is there a chance that something like the Mi-24's IR Suppressors will be added to the weapons page too? That would be a great addition!

No, that would be inaccurate for this version of the AH-64.
@@MattWagner Sorry, I wrote it poorly. I meant the option to remove the IR Suppressors on the Mi-24, since we'll be able to remove the FCR in the armament menu.
We have no such plans.
I've tested the FCR since the last update and I have to say that it feels like a whole different module. I can't wait for the future addons. Good job ED!
Without a doubt the best rendition of the famous Apache to date, and it keeps getting better. Those new FLIR images with the plumes of smoke and glowing fires looks pretty amazing too, and that is not to undermine the amount of work gone into producing the FCR and other systems.
Just a HUGE thank you for all of the effort you put into to making these videos. It is greatly appreciated and I am loving the Apache updates.

It's insane how easy they made it to operate and destroy targets. With only one watching of Wag's video while I was working and half paying attention, I was still able to just click around and deploy missiles with the FCR in about 5 minutes. That's nuts. Microsoft Excel is more of a pain, and it's not firing missiles from a million dollar helicopter.

Another way to slew over to the Fcr targets with the tads is to make the fcr the sight, then scan and select a target, then change acq to tads and press the slave button. The only downside is that you have to do this everytime you select an new target and it only works as a cpg. I think this is where the link function will come in handy later on.
Understanding the relationship between Sight and Acquisition Source, there are multiple ways to skin this cat. In the end though, LINK will be best option.

I know the FCR isn’t really multicrew ready yet, but in theory could the back seater shoot with it, have the shots show up on the tads for the front seater, and they can see if stuff gets sploded? Moot point once LINK enters the scene, but still.

Hi Matt, when i saw the video for the 5th time is was when you seleted the target at the tsd the tads was already slaved to the target so no need to slave it again

Hey wags, have you guys ever thought about adding a D variant to either the F/A-18 or the F-16? Maybe you could make it as a upgrade to the hornet or viper module.
Not really, it would provide very little to game compared to the amount of time and capital required. A net ROI loss.
Do you know if it's now (or in the future) possible to prevent AH-64 FCR system to lock on targets that are already crossed out with "X" symbol? (like happened here: 3:05, 2nd target that will be fired upon is a target that has already been engaged, while there are targets which never been engaged before.)
That would not be realistic.
@@MattWagner you think the computer would know not to keep putting next to shoot and ants over X ‘d previous shot at targets when scanning again -that seems to be bad engineering

@@MattWagner lol like boeing would listen to us ….I’ve been flying this non stop since fcr release im getting pretty good at picking up new contacts versus X’d ones hiding in cover at 4-5k out zooming in on screen looking very closely, it has its own challenges for sure but its worth it to take AA threats out quickly at first scan . Btw what is C scope function ?

I am running into issues being able to switch off of the FCR sight select in the pilot seat. Once i select FCR sight, I cannot seem to select the TADS sight without switching to the CPG seat
Any help would be appreciated.
TADS can only be selected as sight from the front.
So i usually get setup to slave the gun to the P-HMD, but that does not work with P-FCR selected as far as i know. How do i get the right sight set to use the gun?@@MattWagner

I love the FCR but now many multi player servers have them and there's none on the mission builder
With the FCR now added and new missile loadout configurations, new payload options will be added to the ME.

I agree with others that are saying that the FCR feels like a whole new module! This is going to make aquiring targets SO MUCH easier than looking for heat signatures through the TADS!! :D
Using the FCR is like cheating.... kind of boring for playing at home...
I hope there’s more too it. It feels like cheat mode. 😮
