Oh my gosh that was so hilarious! Awesome impression, too! My favorite part was primrose Everdeen! I totally makes sense that Wormtail would be the one to place the imperious curse on Percy Weasley because who would know him better? Excellent theory and it totally makes me read the last four books in the Harry Potter series differently!
@@brinmoody I guess that's why Voldemort wanted to touch him
Pretty sure it just went:
Sorting Hat: Mhm? Red hair? Hand-me-down clothes? This must be a Weasley. GRYFFINDOR!
Imagine if 200 years later, the Weasly surname becomes the equivalent of “Smith” in the muggle world everyone in gryffindor is a Weasly or a distant relative.
weird.. now that you mention it: what if the weaslys are decendents of griffindor? The sorting hat does put ron into griffindor based on his name I think
I kinda like the idea that every Weasley could have been in Sytherin to an extent. Bill and Charlie get good and respectful jobs followi g their passions, Percy is Percy, Fred and George are ambitious to start their own business and sneaky to boot, Ron dreamt of being head boy and quidich captain and ginny... well... she wanted to marry harry...

Honestly, the sadest part is that I don't think anyone ever knew he was under the imperius curse, including himself, so coming back to his family after so long, regardless of what he is doing at that moment, they would have to think that the past 3 years were of his own choice, which had to leave some sort of mark on them
They never cared about him before why would they after?
“I want that Potter boy dead but my god he’s good on a fireblot.” Best line and impression of Voldemort ever. Great job

That's what I felt like too
MEG4nerd it’s an ok theory but I don’t think he’d ever go as far as he did
I've always prescribed to that idea.
I've always thought that, sure, he might have been a Ministry sycophant at the beginning, like 5th, possibly 6th, year, but at some point he must have realized what was really happening and where things were heading. By Deathly Hallows, I think he was staying where he was because he knew his family were considered blood traitors and the best way to protect them was to maintain appearances and keep ahead of any possible moves against them.
"You know Ron's stuck up brother?"
"Pinocchio Walrusberry?"

What if someone put a jinx on Percy so that everyone forgot his name? I mean it sounds like something Fred and George would do. @@Lucy-gr4yt Of course not. You're *Wren* Waffleshnitz.
I love how Crouch keeps calling him Weatherby. So insulting. Maybe that's part of why Percy didn't want to believe Crouch was not himself. He finally felt seen by his boss, something he wanted so badly that it blinded him to the painfully obvious truth: something is very wrong with Barty Crouch, Sr.
And how do you explain all the other people that would've known Crouch for longer than a year? Why didn't they know something was wrong? They would be more knowledgeable of him than an 18 year old who has only worked for him for less than a year.
@@1993digifan Maybe he was part of the "quiet quitting/work from home" craze? Or maybe no-one wanted to step on his toes by questioning such a hothead...
@@brandiarmstrong2902 You do know the series canonically takes place in 90s so there no Muggle fad for him to follow right? Plus that won't explain why Percy was left to do all the work if Crouch Sr. was just working from home.
I think Percy was just a bit of a prat at this stage in his life. Glad he grew out of it. Plus, wizards are often a bit touched in the head. Very obvious things often elude them. Probably why Snape's protective measure for the sorcerer's stone, though not shown in the film, was a shelf of seven potion bottles and a riddle that ran on pure logic. 2 bottles contained poison, 3 contained wine, one had a potion to go back through the fire you just passed, and one to pass safely forward through the next wall of flames. The riddle told exactly which bottle contained what, but was written in such a way that those who don't possess a whit of logic within them would be hopelessly lost trying to figure it out. My guess? At least half of that department would be among those who never made it out of that challenge.
@@brandiarmstrong2902 You are right, coming from an emotionally abusive family it makes sense that Percy would be desperate for just a sliver of validation from literally anyone since he LONG AGO gave up expecting any genuine support from his blood relations. You people want me to believe that it was so horrible for Percy to pick a well paying job over his blood relations than PLEASE find how many times his "loving siblings and pappy" weren't insulting, backhanded complimenting, dismissing his personal wishes, supporting the mistreatment of him by others, betraying a simple promise, or really just anytime that acted if they even liked him before he walked out on them. So was it really something to "grow out of" or was it just an abuse victim going back to the abusers since the bar for his personal happiness is so low they are least worst choice at this point?

4:36 I think to myself why does Voldemort even bother using the Avade Kedavra curse on Harry. It clearly doesn't work on him.
It'd be a lot better if Voldy just used any number of equally deadly or life threatening curses (like Bombarda or Sectumsempra) or even beat Harry's head in with a rock.
*or even beat Harry's head in with a rock*
Please, have you read the books, or even watched all the movies? It’s very clear that the problem wasn’t in any specific curse, it was in the complex bond between Voldis and Harry. Nothing would change that, strangling, sectumsempra, a gun or anything else
Actually I think it’s worth a shot for the final battle, pretty sure dumbledore said the main reason Harry lived is because the Avada kedavra targeted the Voldemort horcrux in his soul due to the hate
Additionally Voldemort was a huge egotist who wanted to make a point by killing harry the way he originally intended to
Wait a minute. If Voldemort killed Lily Potter with a rock and then tried to kill Harry with the rock, would the rock rebound and beat Voldemort to death?

Honestly it feels more like Percy had built up resentment of their family not having the best financial situation and a mixture of middle child syndrome. Growing up with Fred and George's antics would eat up a lot of their parents attention and then when Jenny Comes Along being not only the youngest but the only girl that his mother always wanted probably meant that especially with him being so well-behaved responsible and great in school he was easily pushed aside and ignored most of his life by his family or made fun of.
Your description of the imperius curse had me so relaxed, then you told me to subscribe. I actually laughed out loud! Too late. 😆 That's how I found this video in the first place!
Me too… ROFL
I kind of love the sad fact that Fred Weasley's last laugh comes from Percy's joke about his "resignation" when he transfigures Thicknese into a Sea Urchin.
I do feel it is rather appropriate that the brother who the twins were always giving the hardest time was the one who had... "the last laugh."
"Primrose Weverdeen"
LOL
I loved this one!! lol
Primrose everdeen
The hunger games reference is on pointttttt

7:41 in particular
I loved it!
Theory:
Percy only was under the imperious curse for a year but he thought his family will hate him since they did not know he was under the curse but after two years he worked up the courage to talk to them
Or he left an extremely toxic environment only being willing to be around them because of what was basically the end of the world. Don't believe they were toxic? Please find anything in last four years before he walked out where you could actually believe his siblings or father even liked him or that his mother only liked him because he did what she wanted.
Regarding why Percy is a Gryffindor: he was sorted 4 years before the audience meets him. People can change. And as much as I love Fred and George and hate to point the finger at them, I wouldn't doubt that they are at least partly why Percy was burdened with being "the responsible one" once he went to Hogwarts.
As for being on the side of Umbridge, that's simple: he just didn't know what she was actually like. When Scrimgeour was trying to get on Harry's good side, he brought up Umbridge, which I can only take to mean that Umbridge didn't see fit to tell her coworkers about her habit of carving up people's hands, because Scrimgeour doesn't seem like he's dumb enough to intentionally bring up someone that he knows Harry would hate.
Percy: hello I’m Percy Percy Weasley
Me: hi Pennywise nice to meet you
Hello Percypercy. I'm Jamesjames Bond.
Wow the name go's hard
Are we gonna forget the fact that in the book Harry Potter and the goblet of fire; mad eye moody (BC jr) casts the imperious curse on Harry. And Harry "shakes" it off. So Harry has actually been able to "shake off" all 3 of the unforgivable curses.
How do you shake off the Cruciatus Curse? I’m actually curious, I haven’t read the books for awhile
@@tavadaardendrian319 i cant exactly remember but i think it has to do with accepting or ignoring the pain, like focusing on something else
@@tavadaardendrian319 I think it’s because he’s been hit by the curse a few times and so it affects how Harry shakes it off.
@@tavadaardendrian319 I don't know anymore who suggested it, but the argument goes as follows: As Bellatrix (?) stated in The Order Of Phoenix you really need to mean it, if you want to use the Cruciatus Curse. As Voldemort didn't think that Harry was alive anymore as he casted the curse on him, he didn't cast it correctly, therefore Harry didn't feel any pain. Do you get what I mean?
I’m pretty sure that J does know that, but he just didn’t mention it because it wasn’t relevant to the point he was making at that moment
I was actually heartbroken when Pink Wallaby sent back his Weasly jumper in the fifth book, but now i'm happy that it was just the imperius curse. :)
Oh yeah, so horrible the exact same kind of sweater that he got the moment he stopped growing. So horrible to not want something from the toxic family. PROVE the Weasleys weren't a toxic family to him, find anytime that you could genuinely believe his siblings and father even liked him or that his mother didn't just like him because he did what she wanted.
I’m rereading the series again after a couple years of not reading them and every time I have a question I just look it up on your channel. I’m in order of the phoenix at the moment, and specifically when Percy is at Harry’s hearing

This was the first SCB video that I watched. I think the Percy name jokes were what really got me into the channel 😂
I'm unconvinced he was under the Imperius during the second task because he's so emotional that he runs straight at Ron when he's pulled from the lake, so he's biased to give Harry full marks. He might love rules but this is the same guy that bet ten galleons he DIDN'T OWN on a Quidditch match, he's not completely strait-laced.
I have two theories for the second task thing:-
Peter Pettigrew was away looking for Voldemort as a rat. He may have been too focused on that or just forgot about Percy.
Percy at the sight of seeing his brother almost drown, shook of the curse and without wasting any time jumped in after him.
I also think it makes a worse story if he is under the imperious curse. People can get stuck in their ways and make poor decisions and then find it hard to return to the right side. I don’t know I’ve just always liked Percy’s arc
@@celinavivian1162 Same! It’s much more interesting to have someone who’s genuinely misguided and messes up but in the end is able to reflect enough to change his ways. I have too many thoughts on the topic so I’ll leave it at that, haha.
@@jennisfalling1379 Well people also hate the idea that maybe the Weasleys and Percy had very toxic relationships so it really was just a matter of time before he would've cut them out of his life. Seriously can you actually find a single time that either his siblings or father actually acted like they even liked him?
I think Percy wasn’t placed under the Imperius Curse until after Voldemort had returned and after it was discovered that Crouch Sr was killed and Jr got the Dementor’s Kiss.
There’s another way to get out of the imperious curse - the thief’s downfall in gringotts.
Oh yeah, that works too, I guess
Actually that's a good point. I wonder why they don't install something similar in the ministry, I guess it could be goblin magic which they won't part with

Everything Percy does up to the end of the series matches Percy from the beginning. Percy arguing against his family and disowning them is something he wouldn’t need to be under the imperius curse to do
You think those people bothered to actually critically look at the relationship between Percy and the people that went out of their way to make him miserable? If they did they would see that Percy had every right to cut his toxic (at best) family out of his life.

😂😂😂😂
You do know that Luna's mother died from a cauldron exploding? Seems like the stability of cauldrons is valid concern. But since it's not a happy funny thing people like you ignore it, just like you whine about car inspection.
personally i dont think he was under the curse for many reasons. one of which is he still expressed concern and love for his family, even if it sometimes was misguided. like the letter he wrote ron, telling him to stay away from harry. obv it was wrong but from his pov he was warning his little brother of a dangerous life. why i think he choose the ministry is simply bc he was tired of never being appreciated, always being misunderstood, and having his hard work go not only unnoticed but also mocked by his family. so, instead, he chose his out. he choose to believe the sweet lies being fed to him instead of more questions and mockery from his family. thats quite understandable in my opinion, not good, but understandable. and i get why people dont see justification of his words or actions he used against his family, but i understand where he was coming from. not completely, ofc, a lot of things he did were completely out of line. however i have said terrible things to my family because i felt secluded from them, they not only didnt get me but they also never wanted to listen to me when i told them what they were doing hurt me. so i became a prat to them honestly. i feel percy did the same. he was more than tired at that point and i think the final straw was that his own father didnt think he could get a job like that in the ministry, instead, from his prospective, his father didnt believe he could do it on his own merit. and ofc from our perspective its obvious he was just being used as a spy, from his he finally got his big break, his talent finally recognized. which is quite sad. the boy was desperate for any appreciation and felt he got none (which, from what we read, he doesnt from anyone but his mum. which is complicated) which is partly why i defend percy, or at the very least share his pov. the weasleys are amazing people, wonderful and kind. but they never understood percy and i dont believe they ever tried to, 'sides molly. the twins were cruel to him, i will say, their relationship is very complex and we dont have an exact reason why or who started to feel animosity. but anyway, alls that to say i personally just think percy deserved better and if you can forgive characters who made even worse decisions than his, i think you can forgive him aswell.
I think this might be my favourite theory, rereading the books I kept this in mind and it actually made a little more sense

Misnaming Padfoot Wormtail like that each time is going to become a new hobby of mine. It reminds me of my favorite British actor, Battlefield Counterstrike.
Maybe part of the reason Harry is so good at shaking off the imperious curse is because of his childhood. When you're abused as a child you can't really make any of your own decisions, and so having all of them made for you can be a very triggering thing afterwards. So...
Pisces Wimbledon being under Wormtail’s Imperius curse specifically is actually really tragic.
can u imagine being under ur pet rats curse
Colin Nguyen Pesky Wingtips
Wait a minute..... his true identity is perskins wormtail, he is related to wormtail confirmed
@@reallugia97 I'd write the fanfic

Oh! Hey Ron! Who is your oldest brother's name who's still in hogwarts again?
Ron: Oh yeah! His name is Perlin MackBuger wait no! It's Pomperpooper Pickhitch Wait I just remembered, Its actually Pothead Longnose

I actually really like this theory. It makes a lot of sense.

Your kind do hate the idea of your fantasy replacement family having any hint of being so toxic one of them just walks out on them.
I don't think it was the imperius curse, that takes away his whole character arc. But Peese Witherspoon made my day. I'm dying.😂

I've watched a ton of your HP videos in the last week. But especially this one made me subscribe. @_@
Very intriguing, but wasn't Percy like actually worried about Ron in the Goblet of Fire 2nd task? He was even wading into the water and pale(r) to come after Ron.
this definitely explains a lot about Porcupine Weathersly
Lol
Or just trying to whitewash the way his father and siblings treated him which would have always resulted in them driving him way.
I like this theory, but as for him being a Slytherin, I can see him having the choice like Harry did. His two older brothers and parents were Gryffindors, and everybody sees Slytherin as the evil house, so I can see him asking the hat to put him in Gryffindor because he wants to be the "good guy" and also wants to share the house with his family.
Good ol' Parsley Whittlefree has a lot to atone for.
"I forgot Ron's disgusting older brothers name what is it?" "Oh you mean Pestio Wideshorts Windbag?"
Friend: What was the name of Ron's older brother who worked for the ministry?

I happen to like paramount waffles. Perpetual Window takes a bit of getting used to, but he has a redemption arc.
Or is it an abuse victim just accepting his abusive family and their treatment of him that went on LONG before he walked out on them because the narrative says they are best simply because the worship Main Character?
My initial thought while you were explaining how the spell ends was "oh so youre gunna talk about the rat"
"when Voldemort and Wormtail went to rescue his son, Barty Crouch Jr." I heard that with the missed context that Voldemort was actually Crouch Jr's real father.
Seasunshld I’m sure Jr would have loved that.
Who wouldn’t want to look like a snake when they grow up?
Syntax errors are fun, aren't they?
I actually dislike this theory. I feel that Percy's Arc of trusting the wrong people and making mistakes but owning up to it and apologizing is important. So few people it seems can do that today.
Same. Imerpius curse seems like a cheat and takes away his character development
Takes away from his character development and the narrative tensions within the Weasleys. If he was under the curse it would ruin the narrative at the end with Fred. I don't think J thinks about narrative and character development when he makes videos in favor of wanting to explain anything that doesn't make sense to him.
I agree that percys arc is important but I still think they did great research
Agreed. I see the merit for the theory, but yeah, I think the only spell he was under was the spell of the allure of money and power. As a guy from a poor and underappreciated family, he saw a way to success and respect (which he got none of at home).
Ya i can see that
Goblet of fire percy and chamber of secrets were my favorite percy lowkey so funny reading his lines
