Is a connon powershot sx130 good for night photography and my second question is I've been doing photography for about a month and I just got the powershot isn't good for first camera
I cannot express how much I love your aesthetic, your persona, your pace and structure of your videos - you make me want to learn everything about photography! Also, video idea - Street photography on an iPhone challenge?
I don't know what to compliment first; your cinematographic and calming video, your advice or the fact that you also include the safety aspects in the video. Love it! keep up the amazing work!
Your calm at explaining things is what sets you apart! Keep it up….You have inspired my street photography game a ton. I have always been a bit shy doing street photography since I am a pretty big guy and kind seem intimidating to others. I don’t like the feeling of making others uncomfortable, but following your advice is allowing to get out there making sure that I don’t make others uncomfortable!
Fuji's idea of having the noise look like grain instead of little square artifacts in crossword puzzle patterns was brilliant. I never think of noise when using a Fuji. I always consider that in the film days, pushing 1600 ASA film a couple of stops was the only way to go anyway.
as a new photographer that bought an xt-3 for my first camera, I had no idea that other cameras didn't do that and it was one of the first things I noticed about my higher iso photos.
That 4x3 aspect ratio hit me by surprise. Like always, your videos are a work of art themselves. A tip I picked (don't remember where exactly) is when shooting at night, a film simulation or custom setting with a bit of a green tint in them can help with high ISO. Won't show less grain but it usually looks better.
I love shooting at night, especially after it’s been raining, puddles and rain soaked roads, especially old cobblestone ones. There’s something about the quality of the light and the overall aesthetic. Things that would otherwise look mundane during the day, are transformed at night.
As someone who shoots almost entirely at night, i really appreciate this video. You touched on a lot of things i do, but don't take the time to think about it clearly.
Good video... Safety at night: One thing I noticed in the video that I’d say you shouldn't do when out photographing at night is; not use headphones or earbuds as it stops you being audibly aware of what is around you. Not only for traffic ( a bin lorry or delivery truck reversing for example) but to be also be aware of possible trouble heading your way… nights means people out drinking and being drunk etc. Be aware, stay safe, enjoy.
Love that one! Can’t help telling myself: what? That’s too short. Your flow, your edit, yours shots, your music: really a whole experience that reflects your relaxed way of photographying and yet so much focused. That’s what really sets you apart in the UA-cam space! Keep it up that way Faizal 👏
I find it nice to take photos at night especially with an a6000 and a manual lens, creativity flies in low light conditions. I have fun with what I have. Many tnks for the great vídeo.
A really captivating video. The soundtrack, ambience, calming narration and genuinely useful tips. I look forward to your releases especially with the x100v and minimalist approach.
I am inspired here. I love shooting night photography, and I recently started shooting with film more at night. I would recommend CineStill T800 film if you have a little more experience with film. It is tungsten-balanced, and it works really well for low-light photography. If you are interested in B&W photography, Ilford and Kodak produce 3200 iso film (Ilford available in 120 and 35mm). When shooting at night, it's not a bad idea to venture out as a group.
Night photography is the only photography I thoroughly enjoy every minute of. Even if I get home and they are all trash photos. Just the act of having my camera out at night satisfies me.
I love your videos Faizal, you have a very soothing voice to listen to, your content is authentic, sincere and you’re so modest despite being a very talented photographer and content creator. There’s something special about UA-camrs who don’t shout or brag or pretend to know everything. Keep being you! Nice one
As usual, well done Faizal. I have only recently found you videos and I think they are very well produced and always contain a lot of useful Info. Unlike you, I shoot at night almost exclusively. Well, actually very early morning as I am a morning person. Two tips i would add: Shoot in manual mode and usually a stop underexposed. This adds a truer black to the image since the camera is not trying to push everything to a day time light. I also try as much as possible to lean against a wall or a telephone pole to keep myself steady. (I'm an old man) Or I rest the camera on a fence or something. Thanks
This video is a breath of fresh air for me. I am looking a nice camera mainly for street photography, and I've been watching countless videos at this point. This one hits different, though. Very nice calm vibe. Almost soothing to watch. Nice job, sir!
Many of your thoughts about shooting at night, seeking scenes out cinematically and pensively, the vulnerabilities and cautions, making grainy photos B&W worst case scenario, etc. all mirror my own feelings exactly. Really well-constructed and creative video, as always. I missed this one earlier this year, but just picked up an X100V - current X-T2/4, X-H1, X-Pro3 AND X-E4 owner. But my X-Pro3 was just dealt a debilitating & highly frustrating blow in the way of the back screen stopped working, and now the flip lcd touch no longer works either - this after my first two X-Pro3s needed to be returned because of the optical viewfinder issues this model experienced early on in it's release. So I decided it was time to finally give the X100V a try. I always hated that my X-Pro3 didn't have an HDMI port anyway, among other buttons on it that can't be pushed in, etc. the X-Pro3 was in many ways always lacking somehow, for me. And it's problems almost made me leave Fujifilm entirely. Almost... lol. Anyway, great scenes and thoughts in this video.
Totally shocked when he said “only f/2” A lot of beginners use bundle lens (mine started from f/3.5 and it still did wonders with slower shutter speeds) Great video as always, with a lot to learn from (or a good reminder)
It's because one of the misconception about night photography is that you have to have a f1.x lens, otherwise you can't do it… that's why “only f2”. It may be true in the past, when high ISO were very low compared to today's camera. But now, even at f4, you can make some good night pictures.
One common misconception about crop sensors is that they gather less light than other sensors. That‘s just nonsense, they gather just as much light as larger sensors, because light gathering is measured per surface unit, not per total surface. If you fold a piece of paper in half, it doesn’t appear darker - it gathers just as much light per square inch as before. As you said, Fuji cameras are more than capable for night photography, I couldn’t agree more and I’m happy you brought this up! :)
Your videos always make me feel so inspired to grab my gear,l (heck even if it’s just my phone), go out, and try again. As an anxious person who has been dealing with self-doubt, I’ve been putting a lot of things on hold, especially my photography because I’ve been feeling drained. So glad I came across your channel while looking for camera reviews. Listening to your voice and watching your videos help calm me down. I’m looking to buy a new camera soon and I can’t wait to try my hand at street photography. Thank you. I hope I can become good enough to join you in the streets in the future. ❤️
I started shooting in Acros film sim for my night shooting and it’s been an amazing experience, black and white works so well at night. But then I’m afraid it will become a crutch for bad color
this video was so beautiful. as someone whose struggled with nighttime street photography for a while, you gave some genuinely useful tips! definitely will take some inspiration from this in my future work
Lovely video Faizal! I love shooting at night it has a soothing tranquility which grabs me every time I do it. You are absolutely right by saying "embrace the noise" because nowadays most digital cameras have such a nice way of handling noise as if it was grain. Just remember when there was high ISO film, the grain was dramatic and not always as nice... I shoot often up 6400 on my X-E4 and don't even bother...
Awesome video! Love the way you explain things, what to expect and not to be discouraged and just experiment. Thanks for sharing these tips. Learning a lot from you and Roman!
you sir are underrated your video is produced at a movie level and you give advices not only about photography but also safety and morality keep it up i love your content ❤❤
What a great Video. I picked up my first Fujifilm (x100v) about 6 months ago. I needed to hear your comment about using a high iso at night. Very helpful. I'm always sketched out raising that iso and it results in me not taking many night photos. Thanks for the inspiration.
Faizal ... very impressive lesson. I learned a lot. Have been photographing for quite some time, but not much at night. Your video has helped me with the motivation to go out and give it a try and use some of things you've highlighted. You are a gifted teacher and a dedicated and creative photographer.
I discovered your channel in the last few weeks and I love it, I am learning so much. I am a night shooter (?) and your videos were making me want to shoot during the day... Until I saw this video. Now I'm even more sure than before that night photography is what I like.
I discovered your channel like 3 hours ago, instant sub, instant like, man you have improved so much the quality of your videos in less than a year it’s crazy-good, definitely check on those Fujifilm cameras in replacement of my old 17 y-o reflex
Night photography is my favorite. I always get better photos at night instead during the day. It’s really cool to see someone’s SEE the same things I SEE while taking photos.
Thanks for share you job keep doing more like this 😎 Ciao from Italy !
That's a really great video and the set of images is great too! I would like to add my own take on night time photography though: I think many people still might get scared seeing you getting out with the Fuji X100V since it isn't that much of a beginners camera. And even though I see what you mean when you say it doesn't have a great low-light performance the Fuji X-system generally handles extremely well high ISO-numbers. F2 is pretty great as aperture too. Beginners don't have that kind of gear. But I can tell that even with a beginner's SLR like a used Nikon 3000 (which is pretty bad with high ISOs) and a kit lens (which doesn't open more than f3.5 (!!!), you can get great results, especially if you're using the streetlights as spots. You just have to practice standing straight and not shaking. In such a case I would recommend opening as wide as possible, shutter speed around 1/15 to 1/30, ISO max at 1000, better around 400 (after that the images are real trash). Or just use your phone with the lightroom app for example. You'll get pretty decent results too if your phone is more or less recent.
Who here also likes shooting at night? Drop any night related questions for me in the comments :)
Have you ever tried a pro mist filter in the nightly hours?
@@DQmanglocQ I have! I don't normally use them though. I actually made a video a while back using the Moment Cinebloom filter! check it out

Is it good for a first camera*
I'm a beginner and I have a lot to learn and your kind of the person I look up to so I don't want to waste your time but I have more questions
accepting high ISO is something that took me a long time to realise was not such a terrible thing... just embrace it. great advice!

Another channel which I think you'll love is William Sheepskin, he onlyt shoots film but his videos feel similar to Faizals!

@@kevincarver4759 Oh, you're right. My mistake. Thanks, fixed it.
What a masterpiece. This was so cinematic. I felt this video. That's the only way I can explain it.

yes, what you mentioned definitely resonates with my experience. nighttime photography is completely different, requiring a slower pace to observe.

Yeah, right? My X70 is only f2.8, so I value my x100v precisely because of the f2!
It's because one of the misconception about night photography is that you have to have a f1.x lens, otherwise you can't do it… that's why “only f2”.
It may be true in the past, when high ISO were very low compared to today's camera. But now, even at f4, you can make some good night pictures.
Hahaha I say that because a lot of people think they needs f 1.4 lenses for low light
I always find peace, every time I watch your video.
Very good video with lots of very good advice. Respecting people's privacy is something that one NYC vlogger in particular should learn.
