Not touching the back of it was a great touch. It gives it character to a piece that you gave a second life to. I enjoyed watching you transform this dresser.
Thank you 😊
Hello oooooh gorgeous cabinet. I was so looking forward to your piece. You always go above and beyond. The color scheme is gorgeous and I am a sucker for anything with cane webbing. Thank you so much for being a part of the ugly duckling challenge with me. Bravo!!!!
I wouldn’t miss this challenge for anything it’s always a blast! Thank you for hosting it 😊
There is nothing I don’t just love about this makeover! It is just beautiful. Awesome job, girl! 😊
You're the best!
You are such a talented woodworking artist. This piece went from ordinary to incredibly beautiful modern and functional. Love it
Normally I would disagree with altering an antique piece of furniture as much as you did but you did an amazing job and saved this piece from obscurity. It is now useful and beautiful.
I absolutely love that you repurpose other furniture pieces and turn them into useful items! You did a fabulous job on this sweetheart!
Thanks that means a lot. Beautiful walnut wood can always be repurposed 😊
The piece was a linen kist, a cupboard for storing blankets, quilts, and household linens like towels, sheets and tablecloths. Very common still in Europe, particularly (in my experience) Scotland and France. I would love to have one, and that was a beauty. Made me cry to see it get cut up and turned into 'just another' boring, modernist piece, but I understand nobody wanted it where you are, and maybe now they will. If you find another one, though, please sell it to me 'as is'!
I have a much smaller version of this cabinet. It was originally used for keeping sheet music flat. I purchased mine from an antique dealer years ago. I also did a few updates and use it for lingerie and socks. I love your version, it's lovely!
So cool 😎
I can see a smaller version being perfect for lingerie.
The lady I purchased it from said she was going to use it for her shoe storage. She must have a massive shoe collection lol.
You nailed this for sure. I love it!!!That base sure does change so much about this piece.
This is one of my favorite pieces in the competition! So GQ. Love the green and leather with the stained wood details. fabulous!
Alison thank you 😊
Great transformation! I love that you wisely used the nice wood from the bed frame to make the new base - smart & looks lovely! 👍👏👏😊
thank you I just couldn't let that beautiful wood go to waste
Unrecognisable! Another amazing transformation. 👏 👏👏
Oh, wow! That turned out so beautifully; colors go together perfectly. With drawers like those, I could see this piece in someone’s classy office.
Yes!!
Ahhh Mel I had to finish your video later…crazy family. It is FABULOUS 🥰🤩 so worth the wait. Love it and that Cain on the front is perfection. My friend you are a dream!
Loved the distinguished gentleman at the end!!!
No apologies needed family always comes first. I’m just honored that you watched and enjoyed it 😊.
You are the first person to mention the distinguished gentleman my hubby is a good sport he he he.
The colour, the elements, everything! It all works and looks amazing! Love it all, Melanie ❤
Thank you my friend 🥰
WOW WOW WOW! What a vision you had for this. Love the leg frame you built for this, the colour and caning so perfect. You have such a gift for the fine details and always go the extra mile to create perfection. Thank you! Amazing again! Love it.

Wonderful Transformation! congrats! you are very talented!!!
Love love love this…looks like West Elm or some other high end piece! I especially love that you had the foresight to reclaim that beautiful timber and repurpose it!❤❤❤
Thank you very much ☺️
I also love green! Normally I am not a fan of cane, but you have changed my perspective entirely!!! The base was perfect for this cabinet! ❤❤❤
Thank you very much.
I could see it working in my head , just glad that to make it happen.
Perfection!!!!! I am having furniture envy over this one 🤗

I just love this, my favourite of the Ugly Duck transformations. My favourite colour, the drawers are beautiful and the rattan, leather drawer pulls and new base are just perfect. Fabulous job. Hope you win with this ‘swan’.

Thank you! 😊
The top of a gentleman’s chest. Top dividers are glove drawers. Great job and your style is maturing very nicely.
Didn’t know that thanks for sharing 😊
Very nice. You have a lot of versatility as a furniture artist. This piece is very "on-trend," but you have also made over other pieces with very original art. That's so cool! You have your own style, but also know how to flip for the masses. Good business strategy. 💚
Thank you 😊
I admire many different styles I try to do what ever I’m inspired by at the moment.
Gorgeous and inspiring from start to finish. Love the look of the project. Really a beautiful swan now. And the story of the maple bedroom furniture wax great. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks 😊
Amazing transformation. It's beautiful.💚
Great job! I really love how all the elements came together, but especially the base.
thanks 😊
Looks great. I cant believe someone threw out that walnut - that walnut alone was probably worth $1k with the way wood prices have been.
Right 😂
Beautiful finished product!
Love your style, awesome transformation!!!!

That turned out beautifully. I really enjoy the caning. It looks fresh and modern, yet feels familiar. You never disappoint. ⭐❤️

So pretty!
Excellent choices in finishes, so beautiful! Quite a transformation! 😊
Thank you Gail ☺️🌺
You seem to be talented at woodworking but I wonder if you have ever built some furniture from scratch. Your ideas for modifications are great and would work for full builds. I don't restore or modify much but I do lots of full builds. I enjoyed the video and subscribed. Thank you.👍
Thank you for stopping by and subscribing. Yes I have done a few small scale builds from scratch but not many. I am not at the place I’d like to be with my woodworking skills yet. You can bet I’m working on that though 😉.
Nicely done!
Once again, a gorgeous transformation!
Thank you so much 😊
Very cool. I love the color. Caneing. And pulls, well done.

Kimono 👘 cabinet? I’m gonna check that out thanks 😊
OMG Melanie! Can you say glow up?! Love everything about this before and after. True transformation! 😍❣️ And I seriously just love watching your videos. Your projects always tell a story and I love being here for the trip! Also, thanks for the review on that bonding primer from SW. I've been looking for options that don't involve shipping.
Awe thank you so much my friend 😊
I try my best at creating what I would want to watch.
Yes that primer is da bomb dot com! I’d like it more than the popular zinsser because this one’s actually water and soap 🧼 clean up.
Oh Melanie this is fantastic. I absolutely love it!
Thank you 😊
Seriously though do you have a camera 🎥 in my workshop area because you guessed exactly what I was going to be doing 🤣.
I guess great minds just think alike 😉
Currently making my way through the videos now can’t wait till I see yours!

Thank you Kathleen
Absolutely beautiful
Go you rock star you! 👏💐🤗
Thanks Mel for Another top notch transformation 💚
A couple of things to say..... Nice save on the short length of cane webbing! Genius!
It's so funny, (as you know we are so in sync 😁). I have just completed a 2 door cupboard makeover myself. It was originally a food pantry type cupboard and had flywire mesh inserts to 4 panels that had seen better days. My original plan was to replace it with cane webbing but the price was beyond what I could justify for 4 panels! Next option I came up with was pressed tin (I think you guys know it as ceiling tin?). It is also a bit of a pricey option but as luck would have it, my friend had some 2nd hand lengths of pressed tin and offered it to me for free! And guess what? I also decided on a custom vintage green colour! 🤣 Been having a bit of a green moment lately! 😁.
I really need to have a crack at building my own base a la diy wife! I bought myself the fancy kreg system only about a year ago. Haven't even taken it out of its box! I love the look of the base! I'd love to make one! I'm just being a bit of a chicken!
Superb job my friend xx
Ha ha we definitely are in sync you are like my other half on the other side of the planet 🌍!
The food pantry sounds amazing is that something that’s up on your Instagram page I’d love to see it?
Girl you need to take that Craig jig out of its box immediately and put it to good use 🤣. Seriously you’ll fall in love with it when you start using it. I had to give DIY Wife for credit for coming up with the simplest way to make an awesome looking base.
Thanks for watching 😊🌺💚
You are amazing no matter what
Wood is so expensive,,,I believe harvesting wood from already build furniture is a great way to keep our plant cleaner
Dodd exactly!
Not to mention older wood tends to be stronger because they used to cut old growth trees to build with. Thanks for watching 😊
💚 What a beautiful job!
💚
you have such impeccable choices. looks fantastic
Thank you 😊
I wasn’t sure about it. But it came out great.
Awesome!!!
💚AMAZING!
💚
Ahhh I love how this turned out! Great save on the doors even though your material wasn’t long enough at first. Nice thinking 💭 I love the drawers on this piece, I can imagine storing my stationary collection and am organizing it i these drawers. Wish I could find something like this here 🌸 great job my friend 💖
Never realize how expensive web canning was but if I had purchased just a few inches longer I would’ve paid twice the amount so definitely decided just to make it work lol. Thank you so much for watching my video I really enjoyed yours as well 💚
@@coloredcaboosecreations right!? I have a cabinet I’ve been meaning to re-came but just haven’t gotten around to it in the last 2 years 😅 because of that price. I saw someone use like a plastic version of it but I don’t know that it would be quite the same. Oh and thank you for watching our video as well 💖 this was such a fun challenge
Amazing as always!
Thanks Yasmina 🌺
beautiful xx
Very, very nice. I love it.
stunning piece and i love the doors
Thanks Meg 😊💚
I love every part of this! Well done 😊
Thanks 😊
Casey and I just watched your video!! Loved it!!
Awe thank you!
have a go at actually weaving cane in this pattern, you'll find out the reason for the price... did the seat and back of a rocking chair and it took me ages... had only done "flat reed" before though
having wood only show at the base is curious, doubly so considering that it is walnut.. white oak would've gone with the drawers though
Wow!!!
Beautiful 💙
You are very talented
Thanks 😊 💚💚
Many interesting ideas. Well done.
Thanks
Thanks!
😘 love you
Outstanding
