I feel the same way to. The investigation was so flawed like the majority of all police departments conducted. This is such a shame because many people are wrongly convicted or take a plea bargain.
Some very strange occurrences with the clothes and sticks along with testimony of others seeing a younger man, just don’t seem to fit a pharmacist or tech. One of the most gut wrenching crimes in the Midwest I remember.
Thanks for the update on this case Mike. ♥ I think it is a pity that the judge placed so many restrictions on the defense. Everyone deserves a fair trial and that should include the same rights and conditions that any other defendant had. It leaves some doubt about the verdict.
Been following this case pretty closely over the past month. Mike's summary is great as always. Appreciate the lack of bias in what had been a polarizing case.
Wow I didn't know the extent of his pre-trial treatment. That is cruel and unusual. I don't think they achieved justice for those girls and their family.
You’ve presented a lot of new evidence, as usual, but it lines up with what I’ve already been thinking. There’s way too many weird things surrounding this case for him to not get an appeal.
It's hard to believe that there are US prisons where people are kept in those barbaric conditions - especially before trial. I wish Libby's and Abby's families healing and peace.
I tend to agree but also, those prisoners are the worst of the worst. The crimes they're guilty of were inhumane, they are where they're supposed to be. It's hard to defend their treatment, especially when it involves children.
@@cdes1776 But he wasn't even convicted yet. What about innocent until proven guilty?! For me he looks like someone who was broken. Probably they put him there on purpose, especially knowing his medical conditions beforehand.
@@alisong2328 yes and the only exception in RA case was that he was held in a prison, not a jail pretrial. Many high profile inmates in jail will end up in segregation... put his charges to that even harder and then his self doing something wish made it almost impossible to keep him safe without isolating him... but that happens to many inmates in jail and prison in the US... so RA wasn't really treated different than others except prison/jail pretrial
That man is innocent because he hasn't been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial. Solitary confinement is torture. He could make a thousand confessions but after over a year of torture they are not credible. Even if he did do it he was still wronged by the court and must be set free.
Hi Mike. You’ve done an amazing job of this case study. As opposed to the one sided opinions of the general media. Your unbiased reporting is appreciated. 🇨🇦
Thank you so much for covering this tragic and complicated story. I am now firmly off the fence and feel RA was wrongly convicted, at very least not 'beyond a reasonable doubt',

I think they felt they needed to collar someone as the case was going on so kong, and is a huge high profile case.i do hope they have the right guy though 😩🤷♀️
@Ann-sj4pt plenty of cases do not get solved, I thought this one would be one of em since there was basically no updates for what 5 years? Where'd the pressure come from for an arrest? It surely wasn't a headlining case nationwide was it and kept in the press. I was always reminded of it but would be hard pressed to remember where it happened throughout the years
@ i agree but i think there maybe a sort of cover up,and it does seem to be a ritualistic unaliving.Maybe the “cover” was about to be uncovered,so they used this poor guy as a stooge. The judge and the POs are shady as hell.
There were so many issues with this case on ALL sides. LE shoddy work, the judge's "interesting" behavior, the prosecutors, and the defense. I haven't followed this case closely, but I can't shake the feeling Richard Allen isn't guilty and I don't know why. I have no reason to believe he's not guilty, it's just a gut feeling and I don't usually feel so strongly about a case. So weird for me.
I’m absolutely not convinced Richard Allen did that. Was there any evidence of the crime scene found at his home? I watched many many hours of podcasts surrounding this case and many seemed convinced Richard is the guy but none seemed to respect the role the defense plays in our court system. And while I could see the appetite for wanting justice served, we need to be 100 % certain and it definitely seems like the jury had its doubts
This case has been one that rly interests me and I’ve watched numerous videos and such on it both just police interviews and peoples put together ones like this and so I’m happy to see a revisit with some possible updates, just started the video so let’s see what’s upppp

I watched a probably 90% of the trial and there was plenty of doubt even with the absence of all the dismissed evidence. For the life of me, I can not understand how this jury convicted Allen.
Its so sad. The entire case. From what happened to the girls to the court proceedings. He didnt get a fair trial, the girls didnt get a fair chance at life, and now we have no idea if they will have real justice. Just horrific. Just praying for peace for the families... The judge in this case was awful, I can't believe a judge would be this ridiculous and incompetent.. Its scary, to know our daughters cant play without the fear of ending up like those girls did, its also scary to think you could spend 100+ years in prison and not be guilty. He deserves a fair trial because those girls deserve real justice!
Mike, you truly "Like Mike'd" this episode, this case was horrific and truly deserved to be delivered in a top tier manner. Slam dunk RIP Libby and Abby🕊️🕊️
Nah after watching the full vid wtf... they convicted him purely on circumstantial evidence. I'm not saying he's innocent but it makes you wonder; what if you're caught at the wrong place at the wrong time? the police can seemingly put you in jail for life for a crime they're not even certain you've done and treat you however.
The hospital phone thing interfering with medical equipment is BS. I work in a very large hospital and everyone carries I Phones to get calls, emergency and other calls!
Prosecutors care more about winning than justice. It would be great if we had a justice system. The only way to get your case heard by professionals is with years of your time and thousands of dollars. Your justice comes after you have already been crushed and labeled guilty. It's not every time but often enough to lose trust.

(Haven’t finished yet). This case has always stuck with me deeper than others. I was almost sure he did it when he and his wife started acting really strange after his arrest. I don’t typically believe every “confession,” there are so many litigating circumstances in interrogation rooms. The jury saw more than we did, but it doesn’t seem like he got a fair trial. It seemed all very biased and one sided. It’s happened before where they just “need” a conviction. This still feels unresolved to me, I’m on the fence. To me, this seems more ritualistic and that it wasn’t his first time if it was him. I’ve always just wanted Libby and Abby deserve true justice. 💜

He stole their lives, his should be taken.
I followed the trial by listening to the notes from some of the youtubers who were at the trial, and I believe he's guilty. The fact that there were a lot of mistakes made by LE, and the judge didn't allow cameras, it has caused a lot of doubt for some people. Plus, some people just love a good conspiracy theory and there are a lot of defense lawyers on UA-cam who made the most of that.

I personally don’t think there was enough evidence to convict. The jury saw stuff that hasn’t been released to the public, so I’m on the fence about the verdict. In the end, I want justice for Abby and Libby
I think I'm literally in the same boat as you
i feel the same way
So what you're really saying is that you don't trust the jury DESPITE the fact that they've seen evidence that you haven't???
I feel the same way to. The investigation was so flawed like the majority of all police departments conducted. This is such a shame because many people are wrongly convicted or take a plea bargain.
Some very strange occurrences with the clothes and sticks along with testimony of others seeing a younger man, just don’t seem to fit a pharmacist or tech. One of the most gut wrenching crimes in the Midwest I remember.
Justice is not served for the two girls. Total disgrace how this was case was treated, so much circumstantial evidence. Heart breaking all around
You were so thorough on this one, Mike 👍🏼
Thanks for the update on this case Mike. ♥ I think it is a pity that the judge placed so many restrictions on the defense. Everyone deserves a fair trial and that should include the same rights and conditions that any other defendant had. It leaves some doubt about the verdict.
It really doesn’t

Been following this case pretty closely over the past month. Mike's summary is great as always. Appreciate the lack of bias in what had been a polarizing case.
Wow I didn't know the extent of his pre-trial treatment. That is cruel and unusual. I don't think they achieved justice for those girls and their family.
They didnt
He’s GUILTY.
He is not guilty
I dont know if he's guilty either but he sure as heck did not get a fair trial!
i live in indiana... the whole justice system here failed those girls.
Fellow Hoosier here, I agree 💯
And richars allem
You’ve presented a lot of new evidence, as usual, but it lines up with what I’ve already been thinking. There’s way too many weird things surrounding this case for him to not get an appeal.
So glad to see you covering this case, I've been following it for years.
"half the women too" lol brutal.
@XD-gm1gr Yes. What you said 👍
@@alisong2328 yes and the only exception in RA case was that he was held in a prison, not a jail pretrial. Many high profile inmates in jail will end up in segregation... put his charges to that even harder and then his self doing something wish made it almost impossible to keep him safe without isolating him... but that happens to many inmates in jail and prison in the US... so RA wasn't really treated different than others except prison/jail pretrial
I predict the Indiana court of appeals will overturn this conviction and there will have to be another trail.
Which way does the trail go?
down the hill 😩♥️
That man is innocent because he hasn't been proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a fair trial. Solitary confinement is torture. He could make a thousand confessions but after over a year of torture they are not credible. Even if he did do it he was still wronged by the court and must be set free.
I have so many doubts about this case.
Mike, I adore how all of your content starts with “in this old video”. 😂🤣
Can't forget the famous Wink!!
Hi Mike. You’ve done an amazing job of this case study. As opposed to the one sided opinions of the general media. Your unbiased reporting is appreciated. 🇨🇦
Thank you so much for covering this tragic and complicated story. I am now firmly off the fence and feel RA was wrongly convicted, at very least not 'beyond a reasonable doubt',
ANOTHER week of 2 uploads?? Mam and I are buzzing to give it a goo, cause we love ya, Mike!
What a confusing case! And I didn't know a judge could set so many discriminating rules either...
This case is total mess and you presented it as such. Thank you Mike! I believe I have watched 100% of your videos!
This case was a mess! The more I learned the less I knew! Law enforcement and the justice system really fricked this up!! Justice was definitely not served!! Thanks for your take on it. Salutations from Canada 🇨🇦
It boggles my mind that they never followed up on the Odinism angle
i followed this story and was confident they found the right man, i'm not so sure anymore. i appreciate that you show the full story. even if he did it, sounds like there's no solid evidence to actually prove it, and they just wanted to put someone in cuffs.
Why do that tho when there's plenty of cases that don't get solved? It was what 5 years before they arrested him?.
In that case where'd the pressure come from to find someone ? Even pressured it you don't have a clue you don't have a clue. Seems like fuckery but what about the jacket?
Mikey! Always found this to be incredibly chilling because of the footage of the man stalking them. Absolutely terrifying.
A case worth covering would be Harv The Hammer, kind of a precursor to the Craigslist killers we've seen. He used want ads.
Every girls’ worst nightmare!😢
@@Sh3r-Bearfor real 😢 what these girls went through is what I always fear will happen if I go out alone.
If all evidence was allowed then there would be reasonable doubt
Exactly. That's why the judge didn't allow so much. I couldn't convict beyond a reasonable doubt.
God forbid that, huh?
There were so many issues with this case on ALL sides. LE shoddy work, the judge's "interesting" behavior, the prosecutors, and the defense. Not only did the defense team leave out photos of the crime scene, they also sent emails containing privileged information about their defense to so many people. That was another huge oopsies.
Thanks for covering this! Justice for Abby and Libby!❤
this is horsecrap about the defense, and no they didnt leave out photos of the crime scene or send emails with privilaged info.
Mike, you’re about to be bombarded by some of the most whacked out conspiracy theorists with this one lol
I'll get the tin foil hat!
@@ThatChapterwhat they’re doing to this case with all the nonsensical conspiracy theories is a travesty. Theyve gone to whole new lows with this case. Please do not give them a voice. Awesome!!!!!!!!!! Been watching out for updates on this case. This one really struck a nerve with me. Absolutely horrific and tragic.
Three minutes since release is definitely my fastest watch. Being a Brit in Australia but I have to get my ThatChapter Mike fix!!! 🎉
"The gull dawg" 😂 so funny. gotta make a little light in such a horrible case. The verdict was read on my bday, and it was the best present I could have asked for
This case hits to close to home for me. We're not far from Delphi. Have been watching this case from the moment the girls went missing. Thanks Mike! ❤️💚🧡💛
Let me know your thoughts!
Thank you for following up on this!!!! I've been keeping up with it since the beginning
This is the case that has always stuck in the back of my mind and first video I watched from Mike that got me hooked on That Chapter. I know some random comment doesn't mean much in the flood of ones you usually get but your videos mean a lot to me and I just wanted to thank you so much for all of it.
The only thing is that she didn't record him by accident. She purposely recorded him because she suspected he was up to something.
But who did she actually record?
The video recording was enhanced, that makes it unreadable to me !! The two sketches they released look nothing like RA but one of them looks a lot like the mayor at the the time ! Just saying there is a lot of reasonable doubt! Anybody can see that imo THIS IS SO SAD !! Families ruined a killer or killers still on the loose . It’s a sh!t show 🕊🥲🕊
You have the patience of a saint to go through cases like this. This case made my brain hurt. Thank you for what you do. You are the best. ❤
Spreading love from Ontario Canada to all you amazing folks 👊 🇨🇦
Also, in Ontario Canada! 🇨🇦

I don't understand how a mistake in his name caused him to be overlooked. That part made no sense.
It was misfiled under Richard Allen (his street name)
Name of street he lived on
@@deborahsunflower939 hahaha no, he definitely didn't live on Allen Street - 'Whiteman'
They had talked to him and cleared him .
They cleared him
I watched a probably 90% of the trial and there was plenty of doubt even with the absence of all the dismissed evidence.
Slam dunk
RIP Libby and Abby🕊️🕊️
As a Hoosier, I am so happy you're covering this case! It deserves coverage. Let's give er a go!
Crazy they finally identified him. I thought there was no way with so little information/clues.
Well they didn’t IMO
I don't think they did at all. Did you even listen to this video?
Well….they identified someone. Whether it’s the actual person in the video or not is debatable.
Wow, inhumane treatment. Each prison guard, judge, official and jury are guilty of torture. And will face justice.
Appreciate the follow up Mike!
This was one of the first cases that made me interested in channels like yours. I’m so glad they got that monster.
Did they though?
Exactly!! Did They?
@@desireenicole2497 yes, next question

Yes Richard is as guilty as sin. Really got the nut jobs out here defending a child killer.
Thanks for doing this case Mike. I live in illinois and think of Abby and Libby often. Poor girls. More information presented here than the news. This whole case is a mess. Keep up the great work, friend. ❤
HARD TO BELIEVE A RESPECTED MAN OF THE COMMUNITY WITH NO RECORD JUST DECIDES ONE DAY TO KILL 2 KIDS
Uh, I didn't get that impression. And, yes, in this world it is completely plausible to commit a major crime regardless.
@@cdes1776 Yes, but considerably less likely to commit one of this magnitude. We are supposed to believe that he decided to commit an SA in his mid forties, but somehow managed to control himself throughout his twenties and thirties. I makes no sense whatsoever.
I'm from Fort Wayne IN, where the Judge and jury came from. This whole case has haunted all of us. I followed the trial, and it's honestly hard to say for certain if full justice has been served. There is a lot that both prosecution and defence brought up that made sense to me. I just hope the families can finally find peace. ❤
Happy Friday, Mike. Thanks for the video!
I came here to the comments immediately to say Ive been following this case since the beginning.. and the JURY GOT IT RIGHT!
It definitely does not seem so 😂 but i also sometimes stick to my emotions over facts to be comfortable. Can't blame ya ❤

Yay! I was right. Nice to have your input, Mike. Have a nice weekend!
You've given me a lot to think about on this one. I'd always thought they had the right guy. Maybe they do, but something is off with the case as a whole.
I have followed this case from the beginning, I personally think he's innocent and didn't have a fair trial.
This was an insane case. Crazy judge crazy cops this case was a mess from day one. I have followed this case from day one. It was so messed up it's like no one knew what to do. I hope the families get closure.

RIP to Libby and Abby.
I'm more suspicious of that judge
I've watched you from the beginning and even with the worst cases, you still never fail to make me laugh! ❤😂
I'm from the area. Lived in & around Delphi for over 30 yrs. I have followed this since day 2. I believe 100% that Allen is guilty. Mistakes were made but I believe LE did the best job possible.People need to take into account how rural this area is & nothing like this has ever happened here. I'm all about justice for everyone concerned but nit at the expense of him! He put himself there!! Why didn't he just be quiet? He was trying to get ahead of it when he saw himself on that bridge the news. That's when he called LE. I hope he's sentenced to the full 130 yrs but I wish it was the death penalty. He stole their lives, his should be taken.
Or it wasn't him at all. Hmm
It was.
I’ve never caught a video so fast!! Thanks Mike!! ❤

Glad you weren't on the jury!
I grew up around Delphi, and theres def some backwoods random shit that goes on once in awhile.... but I don't think Allen did it (or at least not alone). Tragedy to the girls and their families, but this case was a mess. Had I been on that jury, not sure I could have found him guilty.
EDIT: I'll never understand crowds gathering around courthouses and cheering and such when a trial concludes with someone found guilty. Direct family... sure... the rest of the random out there... let it go, go get a job, something along those lines.

This case is so sad tbh. These girls atleast finally got justice all the rumours on social media im glad to see u covering it now atleast I’ll know what’s true and what’s not.

To all the people yelling guilty. Ask yourself this. If this was you being accused of this crime and putting it all together would you be ok how your case was handled? How you was being handled? All the other evidence overlooked? You think this case was properly handled? If you was innocent of this crime ,would you think you got a fair trial?
That simply cannot be answered hypothetically.
Yes it can. @cdes1776
