That smug face in every one of those videos, seems to indicate that Selenski knew about a whole lot of other murders, other than the 12 charred bodies found on his property- where did he live before?
He lived in Dallas his whole life. No one knows why he escaped and turned himself back in. He also beet his first two murders basically on his own so he was smart. Smug isn't the word for him
No he had something he had to get or get rid of. He never spoke on why he did. And his cell he kicked off that rope was planned. Escape while they are taking resources to pull a man off the roof and transport him. He turned himself in because he finished something not because ppl told him too
He missed a little but he's not from here and Hugo is infamously been silent. Sad his daughter turned stripper and died and his one that worked in medicine passed too after all this happened.
He also missed the hit put out on his co.d weekly or w.e. that got assaulted just about everywhere he went and after his escape his life isn't in general pop he's solitary confinement everywhere he goes. He touched on his legal smarts but didn't really cover how he pretty much laughed in our faces on the news and those smiles where because he knew he was beating the first case
Cindy was such a gift to those who were lucky enough to know her. Cindy's Song will play on Thanks to bards telling her tale. Thanks Mike. Lvya all much 😊
You cant really tell much from pictures, oftentimes, but in the ones shown here, she comes off as intelligent loving, sweet, happy, & charming person. (I know, tha's a lot, but look at her pictures). She exudes kindness. I am very sorry for her loved ones. Life can be so unfair. It's ike Elton John sings in that song abt John Lennon (i.e, Empty Garden iicr): _.It only takes one insect to damage so much grain._ - God, so sick, they kept her locked in a gun safe. Makes me so sad for all the innocent people going through such things at this moment. So sad.

How he had the nerve to say my family loves me, I'm not a monster.. like yeah ok, what's with 12 burnt bodies & 4 dead buried body's in your backyard then? Make it make sense.
His family may love him. They might still. Or, they might have re-thought their feelings or their responsibility after his monster-ism came to light. Or, they might continue to love him, even though he's a monster, he's THEIR monster and family-member. Emotions are strange. I have no ties to him, so I'll call him a liar and insist that he IS a monster.
The lack of coverage on this massive case does make you wonder if he has powerful friends. The house he lived in was a high end house. Not a place of a low profile person Loved your coverage on this. Thanks Mike!!!
Dude. Local coverage was MORE than extensive. The issue with newer coverage is the age of the case, I think. At least two international television shows have done parts of the case. There’s an episode of Prison Breaks, and one of a show called Pandora’s Box, if I recall correctly.
To be fair (to a serial killer? what am I saying lol) he could’ve afforded that house by all the stuff he was stealing, extorting, and tricking people out of… without actually having powerful friends It’s also not exactly in a highly desired super expensive area
As a life-long resident and previous cog in the machine (as a well-intentioned, idealistic paralegal), I can attest: corruption runs deep in "Pennsyltucky".
@@keys5595 To high of a chance of the system taking advantage of you for "helping", not to mention all the legal issues you can run into these days helping someone. Plenty of cases of people helping then getting sued or worse.
Well humph! I don’t like missing persons cases. The lack of closure is the worst thing in my opinion. Many years ago my daughter went missing. Her boyfriend had taken her out to an isolated house and left her there with no phone, money, or a vehicle. It was two months with no word. And the police were no help because I didn’t have an address. I was beside myself with worry. I can’t imagine how it must have felt for Cindy’s family with the language barrier. As usual, well done Mike . I’m always looking forward to more! Thanks!
Oh wow! Your poor daughter hope she and all of you recovered well. Did any charges get pressed? Its incredible how many times you hear about the police not being helpful I really don't know how families like Cindy's cope 😢 I have a teenage daughter can't bear the thought of her being hurt or taken as I'm sure all parents feel the same. Hope Cindy gets identified
What's you not having an address got to do with the police not investigating a missing person. Cops will make any excuse not to do their job. I hope she returned to you safe and sound. I hope she ditched the boyfriend; what a freak!
Did he drop her off or were they living there together as bf and gf? When i was younger no one had phones, money, or cars and we would often live with partners. Dating a broke man doesnt mean he's a kidnapper. You make it sound like a hostage situation

He's already doing life sentences on murder charges. The state only has so much money. Charging him and going through a trial for kidnapping would be a waste of time and resources. Plus, he looks to be the type who loves the attention. Why give him the gratification and attention and platform of another trial?
@@hitleractually8180I agree but it also means a lot for the family and sets a better standard to have some form of justice specifically for their daughter.
Yhea but unfortunately the cops often care far less about prostitutes than other women. It use to be much worse but is still a thing. I mean in a case like this it's not going to make any difference as once they've caught the guy they'll prosecute the same either way but it still often makes a difference in terms of how hard they investigate such crimes, especially if a killer only ever targets prostitutes. They're far more likely to brush it off and give excuses rather than actually investing it. Really sad.
@@anjachan well yhea it happens with men and women here as well but for different reasons. Gang members, colour, homeless, etc. Anyone who might be considered on the outside of "normal" society in most respects other than the colour where it's just straight up racism as especially men of colour are more often seen as criminal or to have died because of some fault of their own making. It's not just the police either the press often won't report if the person isn't white, middle or upper class, etc. Unfortunately it's common in many countries.
Plus, what pro would bloody dress up for halloween? They too busy tryin to get paid for a root to get high. Lol. Poor thing. That's a crap excuse either way too, coz pro's a still human n still have feelings.
Addicts, sex works, immigrants and other marginalized groups that have been common targets of serial killers are referred to as "the less dead" because they are deemed less important by society and their deaths often go uninvestigated. It's really sad that it's so common there's a term for it.
I'm an ER doctor. You might be surprised at how often paramedics or other medical professionals either think someone is dead when they aren't or don't notice that the patient died / stopped breathing while standing right next to them. There are various errors that contribute to this, but the two most common is a phenomena known as "anchoring bias" and "confirmation bias". Anchoring bias is a tendency to rely heavily on the first piece of information you hear. Confirmation bias is the tendency to see new information as consistent with and supportive of what you already believe to be true. It works like this. Someone is severely injured or is near death from a medical condition. A bystander calls 911 and says "I found a dead body" or "there was a motorcycle accident... ughhh... this guy is dead." The information is relayed to emergency services, who then expect to see a dead person. When they arrive, they look at the victim. Maybe he is covered in blood or has grievous injuries or appears not to be breathing. There might be some subtle signs that the victim is not dead, but these are overlooked (if he is dead, why is he still bleeding) or discounted (did I just feel a very weak pulse there? No, I think that was just my own pulse). It is very important to follow your usual procedures and to make your own independent assessments every single time. Have you ever noticed that when at doctor's office or ER, you get asked the same questions 4 times by 4 different people? Many patients see this as a sign of disorganization and get frustrated by it. The fact of the matter is that I do know what the secretary / nurse / referring physician says is going on, but I'm asking you anyway for a specific reason. Oh, and wear a seatbelt / helmet!
I'm not sure why this has any relevance to this story. These ppl were buried....the other ppl who weren't mentioned in this video were either not found at all or part of their skull was found proving their demise. This man is a complete monster who created snuff films for fun.
@@melissal9844whatever, it is still good advice and maybe if you are the victim laying on the ground alive, but everyone thinks you aren't but you are aware and can't speak, maybe you will think back and say to yourself wow, I wish I wasn't such a b*tch back then when the Dr was just trying to explain something to prevent a death as everyone walks over you saying how sad for 10 minutes before you take your last breath... It's very common to look the other way and very wise not to intervene. Besides, the cops are useless in most cases unless you have a license plate number, a description and the cops have an active abduction.
Usually, when one of these says "the serial killer you've never heard of". I have heard of them. Not this time, though. What a terrible person. Look at how arrogantly he looks at the cameras. He makes my skin crawl. May he rot in prison for the safety of the rest of us.

It is haunting to see you cover this case snd take me back to that odd dark time. I wish they could provide closure for her poor family who came over multiple times from Korea according to what I heard. So sad.
I’m from Bellefonte Pa, which is 10 mins from State College. It’s wild to hear you talk about a case that happened in my home town and I’ve never even heard of it.
Been following you for years, I think you are brilliant, witty and have the ability to present the worst of our society in a way we can understand. Thank you and much love from Tom.
Mike, you're awesome. I'm so glad I stumbled upon you youtube a few years ago. Love your personality. You seem like you would be so much fun to hang out with. Have a beautiful day!
I have a unique connection here. I was at Penn State the same time as Cindy (Though I was at the Scranton Satellite campus when she was taken). I am from Scranton PA, but I now live and work in Luzerne County PA. Only a few miles from where Hugo lived. I also lived near where Cindy did when I moved to PSU Main the year after she was taken.
I remember hearing about this when I was in school thinking "wait, there's 12 bodies at least there? how come this isn't covered or researched more?" We visited PA many times en route to NY to see family in both PA and NY; just intrigues me there is a serial killer who has killed so many yet we only know of 2 of his victims for sure...
Love the shirt, Mike! Can't believe I only now found this video. Selenski is an interesting (terrible) guy. Especially his escape from jail and not even trying to stay gone. Telling reporters upon his voluntary return, "I wouldn't miss this trial for the world" and then being found not guilty of the murders!
I remember this vividly. I was at Penn State as an art major when this happened to Cindy Song. I remember her family being at the HUB, passing out the missing person flyer with her picture on it. It was heart-breaking. I have followed this story for years in hopes to hear that she's been found & justice will be served.
This was a blast from the past. I had completely forgotten about this case. I went to Penn State for my undergrad studies and attended during this time (I was in my 2nd/3rd year there in '02). I never met any of the people involved that I can recall. I remember hearing about a missing person, and there was a lot of talk around campus, but after a week or so, it seemed to be back to normal, and life went on for us. I don't even think that I recall an arrest being made, but I am glad this killer is where he belongs. I just hope that the other victims are eventually identified so families can find some sort of closure.

Such a beautiful girl. Her disappearance has haunted many people over the years.😢

His family may love him. They might still. Or, they might have re-thought their feelings or their responsibility after his monster-ism came to light. Or, they might continue to love him, even though he's a monster, he's THEIR monster and family-member. Emotions are strange. The lack of coverage on this massive case does make you wonder if he has powerful friends.
The house he lived in was a high end house. Not a place of a low profile person
Loved your coverage on this. Thanks Mike!!!
But was it his family's house?
Dude. Local coverage was MORE than extensive. The issue with newer coverage is the age of the case, I think. At least two international television shows have done parts of the case. There’s an episode of Prison Breaks, and one of a show called Pandora’s Box, if I recall correctly.
I live in Pennsylvania, you couldn't turn on the TV at this time without hearing about this case.
To be fair (to a serial killer? what am I saying lol) he could’ve afforded that house by all the stuff he was stealing, extorting, and tricking people out of… without actually having powerful friends
It’s also not exactly in a highly desired super expensive area
As a life-long resident and previous cog in the machine (as a well-intentioned, idealistic paralegal), I can attest: corruption runs deep in "Pennsyltucky".
It’s disgusting that society has become so immune to violence that people ignore someone’s screams for help!

Thanks!

What's you not having an address got to do with the police not investigating a missing person. Cops will make any excuse not to do their job. I hope she returned to you safe and sound. I hope she ditched the boyfriend; what a freak!
Sounds like a lie youre telling there
Did he drop her off or were they living there together as bf and gf? When i was younger no one had phones, money, or cars and we would often live with partners. Dating a broke man doesnt mean he's a kidnapper. You make it sound like a hostage situation

He's already doing life sentences on murder charges. The state only has so much money. Charging him and going through a trial for kidnapping would be a waste of time and resources. Plus, he looks to be the type who loves the attention. Why give him the gratification and attention and platform of another trial?
@@hitleractually8180I agree but it also means a lot for the family and sets a better standard to have some form of justice specifically for their daughter.
Because a lot of people are weak, and unfortunately it tends to hurt the innocent more than the evil.
The found the charred remains of two people but couldn't convict the killer? That is some BS.
he thought she was a prostitute ... bad excuse. For him it´s okay to hurt them? wow.
Really sad.
@@itarry4 yeah, same here in my country. poor women and sometimes men too for sure.
Karma's a b*tch too

"oh by the way i saw someone get abducted last week but i didnt think it was important to mention until I happened to see them on a sign"
Why are people like this
they were probably just making it up for attention and never saw anything.
It's very common to look the other way and very wise not to intervene. Besides, the cops are useless in most cases unless you have a license plate number, a description and the cops have an active abduction.
