Early 90s fashion was god awful for women. Like George described Elaine to the movie theater attendant on the show, “wall of hair, face like a frying pan”
“They’ve got to make them all look like Lamborghinis then every jerk will go out and get one.” This is the most accurate prediction I’ve ever seen in my life.
This interview was in late April 2003. Tesla was incorporated less than three months later, in July of 2003, in order to develop the Roadster. Conan may well have planted the seed idea for Tesla.
She’s awesome. Always has been awesome…. The first time I saw her on Saturday Night Live, I loved her. She was a cast member for a while, then I didn’t see her for a while. Then I saw her on Seinfeld, and immediately knew that show was gonna take off. She’s f’n gold.
First of all great interview. Conan made me die with that 5% audience remark 😂 but second of all and more importantly... Julia Louis-Dreyfus was driving an electric car in 2003??? That blows my mind and good for her!
@@danielyoung5417 _"GM ended the program in 2001, so her electric car must jibe been something else"_ -- Since you aren't limited to using or even owning car in just the year it was manufactured, it wouldn't be outside the realm of possibility for the car to have been an EV1. Louis-Dreyfus and her husband Brad Hall would've just had to have purchased it some time earlier. However, as it happens, the car they owned was a Honda EV Plus, which according one interview with Hall and Louis-Dreyfus, they purchased in 1998 (but still owned in 2003...see how that works? ;) ). You can read more about the car on Wikipedia, and there is some interesting discussion in that same interview (on the web site Grist) that describes their early adoption of an environmentally aware lifestyle. But the short version is that Louis-Dreyfus and especially her husband have a long history of making an effort to be eco-friendly. The car itself wasn't ever mass marketed, but rather was largely an experimental platform that helped Honda develop the hybrid Insight which came out in 1999.
Back in high school a guy stumbled at the top of some huge stone stairs and somehow managed to crash horribly all the way down the stairs ending in a huge faceplant on the concrete floor. The whole room went silent with a gasp and then the guy, still with his face firmly planted on the concrete floor did a "Tadaaa!". Epic dude. So Julia, next time you walk into a pilar, just do a Tadaaa! it fixes everything.
In 8th grade history class which was next to the stairwell, we heard someone stumbling then a CRASH with their books sliding across the floor. The entire class burst out laughing!

If you've never seen her as the fairy godmother in "Gepetto", trust me, you need to do so. Not to mention... omg... Brent Spiner as Stromboli is absolutely bat-sheet ker-ay-ZEE. In a brilliant, beautifully executed, bonkers way that only Brent could have done.

It's all about the lithium-ion batteries. Today, they're in everything. In 2000, they were just starting to creep into affordability. Before then, yes, you *could* make an electric car but it would be absolutely pathetic.
I think it should be against the laws of nature to be beautiful and funny. Pick a struggle ! This lady here is in the same category as Joanna Lumley. Same for you Conan. It should be Harvard OR Comedy, not both. And you're quite the looker too.
People get into a public jacuzzi naked ? Does the spa put like something in the water to clean the water does it get shut down for a couple hours to clean how does that work ?

She is the queen of tv. She is an amazing actress, and gorgeous as well.
She is natural. There is no one like her in the physical comedy space.
How can you not love Julia??? Very good actor and person.
Along with being genuinely funny, she can sing well and, at that time, had really amazing abs too!
i can think of ONE really good reason
Julia looks even better in 2003 than in the early 1993 on Seinfeld. She aged wonderfully.
Early 90s fashion was god awful for women. Like George described Elaine to the movie theater attendant on the show, “wall of hair, face like a frying pan”
She's incredibly hot in real life. I don't think Seinfeld creators wanted her presented as "the hot chick" on the show.
That's because she eats Big Salads and not Pocinos Pizzas!
And she started on SNL when she was just 21 in 1983. That's a long comedic career.
agree. her and Susanna Hoffs both aged amazingly.
She has a gorgeous smile
She's the perfect combination... Extremely funny & *fine as hell*

@brettcomstock1156 After SNL and before Seinfeld, she did few movies and starred in the show 'Day by Day'.

Elaine (Julia) of the 90s seems similar to the Mary Ann (Dawn Wells - Gilligan's Island) of the 60s.

I wish NBC had Julia do her own spinoff show, "Elaine". It would have been as good as Seinfeld, maybe better.
