- REMEMBER to watch my first LN2 tests with this CPU: • Intel i7 3770K Overclo...
So this is the part 2 to my Z77/LGA1155 Motherboards and Overclocking update. On this one we will be testing my brand-new 3218C i7 3770K that I recently obtained and it seems truly awesome. The CPU was bought as pretested from another user on HWBOT.org forums. The CPU has been delidded and I used Thermal Grizzly Conductonaut between the die and the IHS and Kingpin Cooling KPx conventional thermal paste between the IHS and the water block.
I was able to overclock the CPU stable for multicore tests up to 5.0-5.4GHz+ and I even saw 5.7GHz in CPU-z with only 1.5v VCore :D . Temperatures aren't an issue as the average of the core maximums didn't exceed 70c even at 5.4GHz with 1.52v on the VCore. If I used direct die cooling on the CPU I think I could drop the temperatures even more, probably around 5 degrees. That could lower the VCore requirement of 5.4GHz Cinebench to even under 1.5v, but that has to be tested separately.
Based on tests and scores found online this particular Intel i7 3770K could very well be the best 3770K and Ivy Bridge CPU that ever existed, so will be exciting to put it on LN2 later. I hope you liked to see this crazy CPU tested step-by-step like this and I would appreciate like and subscription if you did !
Introduction and BIOS Setup: 00:00
VCore requirements for the tested clock speeds:
5.0GHz 1.26-1.27v 05:52
5.1GHz 1.315-1.325v 09:41
5.2GHz 1.36-1.37v 12:18
5.3GHz 1.44-1.45v 15:55
5.4GHz 1.52-1.53v 19:19
5.7GHz CPU-z: 28:32
Conclusion: 29:18

Thanks for sharing all this information with the world! Not all of us have the newest components and these videos help reasure us that we still have powerful systems despite the age. (I got a 3770k)
Thanks again man, hope you have a wonderful year.
Great guide this is really going to help me, I've just got hold of two of these boards with two 3770ks delidded them both ready. one on air the other on water so this info is invaluable and a great target to aim for thank you
Going over your back catalog, thanks for all of it.
Whether I buy used and just mess around with spare parts or build a cheap rig its all good relative info to have absorbed.
best OC channel I know. great content Luumi :)
Bruv I'm still gaming on Ivy Bridge in 2023. HP motherboard. Paired with an RX580ste with 16gb and 32gb Patriot RAM slowed to 1600. RdR2 plays at 75hz with no drops and surprisingly no heat. Big ups for this processor.
thanks for the vids! still rocking a 3770k w z77 sabertooth 12 years later !
That is an insane chip.....a lot of 9900k's cant even do that.
90% can't and temps higher.
I can 5200MHz with 9900k and temps very high 😀
@@FlanK3rCZ my old 9900k wouldn’t go over 5 @1.38 and wouldn’t go over 4100 on the memory with 1.4 sa/io lol. I sold it right before the prices dropped for a 10700k that will do 5.2 1.34 😬 and 4200 mem @1.25 sa/io
@@melvinhans1844 it is like my first chip, I was lucky to go 5GHz Cinebench, but 30min stability test "only" 4900MHz without avx.
5.2 at 1.285, but it scales for crap with more voltage, my temps are fine until an avx load, once my 5900x gets here if ever.....I am going to delid my 9900kf and give it hell. Currently trying to get my 32gb of 4000 C17 to 14-14-14-28/30 at under 1.6v but always throws a errors at 12% ish. I am eying a 4266 c 17 kit, I cant find a 4000 c15 kit to save my life.
Amazing chip! Very much looking forward to cold testing now
Just picked up another 3770K. Managed 5.1Ghz R15 at 1.37v, chip is watercooled on strong custom loop. Chip is not delid. Trying 5.2Ghz R15 at 1.45v but temps hit around 92c on the cores. Any idea when we will see your 3770K on the cold stuff?
Top video luumi!👍
Damn luumi you're a mad man!
Haha
This is great. I still have this processor and I use it for gaming
Really good stuff!!
this is crazy,. With this setings my 3770K coud never to post :D And I have same motherboard ,-)
wow, I thought, realtime is harder to pass than very high priority...
Heya Flank3r, its Firedragon from the old XS forums, how have you been man?
Never thought a 3770k could do this high on water 👏👍
@TdubzSFS so at what point does water in your loop get to 100c? Glycol is added as anti bacteria and to help with corrosion.
I'm going to pick up a used 3770K today. Can't wait to test it out, but I do have a sneaking suspicion that I will have to try and delid it, since I heard the thermal paste is garbage in Ivy CPU's and it is after all 10 years old.
A bit scared of doing it to be honest, but I guess I can put my 2500K back in and I technically just lost 80€
total awesome!!
Gotta try this!
M5E is one of the most beautiful boards ever.
Greate video
I got a 3770k and I changed multiplayer to 44 no other change but on full load the core voltage is 1.3 and the core temprator is 90c. Is it safe? my purpose is for gaming so which settings I should to use?
What's the best Mobo to use with the 3770k as have an Asrock Z77 Extreme 6 but think I can get hold of a mint Asus P8Z77-V Deluxe...I have newer rig's but the i7 build is still in great condition and thought could be handy to have a spare mobo 😉
I'm on 4.6 all core with 1.184/1.16 during load 100% stable 24/7 in an msi z77 m power with my 3770k.
I have an old OC genie 2 board and by pressing the button this chip goes to 4.2ghz. I try to do it manually but the multiplier is greyed out for some reason, any ideas?
When will be Ryzen 5000 OC? They made them better, so boosts actually exist in OC mode.
is P8Z77 better than Maximus V?
in term of OC (VRM, RAM pcb traces, ect)
Still rocking my i7 3770k no reason to upgrade anytime soon.
Dang where can i get one of these?
We'll I've seen it all now.
I accidentally set my cpu voltage to 1.75v when I wanted 1.175v. I got some crazy temps but fortunately the chip survived!
Imagine what processors will be like in 20 years?
I ran 3770k for 4 or 5 years @5Ghz but you need 1.5v to be stable. R15 could run with 1.46v or something..
But your chip is real impressive. The motherboard has to be for something. (I had Maximus 4 gen Z 3, and I can tell that it's the mobo that sufered, also ddr3 speed was a problem with generation before Z77)
Jävlar ...... Jag kommer bara upp i 4,7 med vatten .... Var kan jag ta del dina av bios inställningar mer än i videon ?
Try overclock non K Ivy CPU like i5 3470 :) my best is 4.27ghz on air.
Had an 3770 4.42
Lucky 🦆 The 3770k I tested awhile back was a complete potato (4.7 @1.35) lol
I can't even get mine to 4.3@1.25.
Insane. Mine hit around 4.5 and 1.4v
What do u think about that mine is at 5,5ghz and i have gtx 1060. Should i upgrade my gpu?
5.5 3770k?
@@LuumiJuhani Yes sir.
the best chip i have ever, i never dreaming to 5,7ghz, but just 4,5ghz for daily
the more cores, the more variable for failure in the process of manufacturing. being able to see 5.2+ghz on all 10 cores of a 10900k in an impressive feat if you consider it. with that being said, this chip at the time it came out to be able to hit THESE frequencies must have been a true anomaly. that chip in a way.. was an "Accident" just as a failed chip was. it was just the Right kind of accident.
truly awesome to see this. in comparison, my average 4690k does 4.8 at 1.36v
Funny enough, I had a 3218C 3770k that wasn't able to post at 5GHz 1.4v, I ended up keeping a better malay one on ambiant...
what's the max RAM memory frequency you could ever get out of the I7 3770K memory controller?
I got 2400mhz, over that just won't work for me
@@faolan571 and what's your ram kit?
In 2013 I had one that can do 5ghz 24/7 stable @ 1.355v, 5.2ghz r15 @ 1.475v, 5.4ghz 32m/some gaming @ 1.52v. But the imc can only do 2400mhz. Anything over that would throw 23 code.
I had the same, but now 10+ years on its limited to 4.7ghz at 1.38v. Any more and no amount of cooling can help. I think the paste between die and IHS is cooked.
@@benperkins2929 Mine was delidded, you should try.
Try delidding @@benperkins2929
Plz do 3970x and 990x
How good is the IMC
2666 multi is solid, 2800 is quite flaky on ambient.
And 4 months later, me upgrading from a 2500k, and my 3770k won't even stabilise at 4.3ghz.. Sigh.
I got 959cb on my i7 2700k on asus maximus v formula, at 5.4Ghz
could u send me that cpu my 3770k can do 4.7 with 1.412v under load and its stable in prime95 for atleast 1.2 hours during the hottest test it reached 192f im liquid metaled and direct die cooled with a scythe mugan 5 1200rpm 120mm fan and a 2400rpm 92mm fan on top im in michigan. idk what my lot code is since ive misplaced my ihs but i have the ihs of my first 3770k and its lot code is 3307b114 i used to be able to get 4.6 with 1.368v but i think ib damaged it while trying to get the mounting pressure right since i was able to crash the system by bumping the desk i had to take the included nylon washers from the mugan and place them between the cross bar and the top of the cold plate to get the proper spacing edit just checked my order history and that lot code is actualy from my good non broken 3770k
You really thought he was just going to send it to you???
I don't know about the best...lol. I have a i7 3770K (delided with liquid metal) and a z77 OC FORMULA (that broke but, i fixed it) that runs 5.2GHz at 1.370v with just a 280mm RAD. Also, it has a 4x4GB kit of Crucial B 1866CL9 OC'ed to 2400CL11. Not to bad. I was using a z77 Extreme4. Though, it still able to clock to 5GHz but, the VRM is a little flaky along with the 2019 beta BIOS i'm testing. The VRM on the z77 Extreme4 is quite unique. Its half analog and half digital. I thought it was alright to run daily. Its been running since 2013. I dropped a simple 1.64GHz Sapphire Nitro+ RX590 in it, and it runs every game at 1080p60 to 90Hz without issue. The batch number on my i7 3770K is "3233C601" if that helps find any more good 3770K's.
It is not only about nice voltage for 5GHz or so, many CPUs just don't scale with voltage that high.
@@LuumiJuhani Yup, i reposted the voltage i used but, i have the 3770K at 1.370v at 5.2GHz. I haven't tried DICE or LN2 yet but, would like to.1.270v at 5GHz is just plain awesome. Did a insider at intel bin that 3770K...lol
@@bryantallen703 No, I found it from a bar in Pattaya.
Dude, I have no water cooling and I'm getting 5,75. and 6.00 too
My Cpu requires 1.33 volts for 4.5Ghz then you are running on 1.28
1. Quite sure I've seen better MHz/volt chips back in the day. I had a 3770K that did 32M at 5000 1.10V and my mother's daily still uses a 3570K capable of true 24/7 operation at 5000 1.19V under a Hyper 212 Evo. And neither of these chips would qualify to be the best by luxx standards.
2. MHz/volt only makes sense up to cascade. On LN2 it's meaningless. As long as your chip can do 32M at 5000 1.25V or less (1.30V or less for some batches) it will hit 7GHz+ full pot and the limiting factor will become BCLK, which is independent of core.
Yep, LN2 must always be tested separately.
And again it depends on what you are looking for. Max single core is heavily BCLK based stuff, all core stuff like WPrime Cine etc is heavily dependent on MHz/Volt.
Why windows 7?
Can't run newer OS for HWBOT comparisons with Z77.
i have one comparable almost equal engineering sample of 3770k ... i have results on hwbot ;)
