CPU Direct Die Cooling - Intel Core i5 3570K Overclocked to 7.15GHz+ on LN2

- This session was actually made in September of last year. I have been looking for good Ivy Bridge CPUs for a very long time, but it is harder to find a golden 3570K compared to i7 3770K. With the help of one of my best fans, Eden from Sweden, I was able to hunt down some of these CPUs.
I knew already at the start that this CPU would be decent based on the water result, so I really wanted to see how high it could go on LN2. As the CPU is delidded, the safest bet is to use direct die cooling to avoid thermal paste cracking. With direct die solution, I've always had the best result in terms of avoiding thermal paste cracking, and the clock speed is usually nice as well. Of course the pot design is not the best possible, so modified Kingpin Cooling T-REX or Venom container should provide a bit better result. This container I'm using for this use case is the very original SF3D Inflection Point made by Ryba from Poland back in 2011/2012. I sent the pot to Bartx in late 2017 or early 2018 for direct die modification, and the mainstream Intel bracket for Coffee Lake 8700K works just fine on these Ivy Bridge CPUs.
It was quite easy to push the multicore frequency up to 6.6-6.7GHz, and the first core was just absolutely mind blowing. I got up to 7.155GHz without using slow mode or anything, so maybe even 7.2 could be possible. Huge results with great margins over the previous top scores in tests like Super PI 32M and 1M and some of the multi threaded ones.
I really like the Maximus V Extreme a lot more than the Asrock Z77 OC Formula, as long as it works, as this board has already killed 2 golden 3770K CPUs with random bugs that have been very annoying.
I ended up messing around a lot with the memory, and it was very hard to get high memory frequency stable so I think the IMC is not the very best possible. The best end result was made with my Patriot Viper II Sector 5 2500 CL9 sticks when cooled with liquid nitrogen.

Outstanding 3570K! Love this platform! Was the first chip I went cold with on ln2, used a Fusion 3.1 pot back then. Will keep hunting for a better 3570K however I feel finding one that can match this will be nearly impossible, like the i7 920 you ran haha

i love the vids. Keep'em going. Makes me want to break out the eVGA 680i SLi (Black Pearl) with the Q6600 and see what i can do on LN2. I know the board isn't that great for LN2 but it's all i got right now. I also got a KING 5GHz+ i7 3770K with the seemingly rare Z77 ASRock ExTreme"11". Which has a PLX bridge. I also got an Extreme 4 for back up. The 4 has one of if not the most funkiest VRM/PWM. It's like half Digital and half analog. You would think an analog VRM would help on LN2.

nice video. Did you try CPU on ln2 with IHS?
Not this one. With other 3770K the difference was very small, maybe only like 10mhz more with direct die but the pot design on this one is not as strong as T-REX for example so it could be a bit higher.
Any overclock setting recommendations to get a 2080TI and an I9-9900k to get a legendary score in any specific benchmark in a Corsair I-164 build
I have every other achevemwbt except the legendary one.

i still have a mb with that chipset. too bad some liquid spilled on the pci-e slot and i cannot mount a gpu anymore on there. I had a 980 classy, some of the contact area burned 😡
would Direct die LGA775 work?

the solder on LGA775 (also 1366 iirc) is alot softer than what intel uses today so you can just 'pop them off" with a vice.
however i still suggest just giving them a blast with a heatgun and then it should pop right off without too much effort.
it'd be curious to see how that behaves with a super dense waterblock attached ontop.
i'd say both die's would get better temps than with the IHS in the middle.
which would help alot with LGA775 stability.
though not sure how LGA775 bare dies would respond to sub zero cooling.
but it'd say for water cooling/icebath/dry ice it would probably get some interesting results.
i'm currently in the process of binning most of LGA775 cpu's just for the lulz. sadly only have a ddr2 P5Q Deluxe. but it should suffice.

Love Sandy/Ivy Bridges. Overclocking these chips were the best comparing with 4th gen and X58. Easily reach 5.0Ghz with Air or AIO with ease.
5.0GHz on air???? My old DL+LM 3770k couldn't get above 4.4GHz at 1.45V
