I think this video very useful. As a university myself, I have to use computer/laptop a lot for my assignments, which my eyes always feeling very dry and sometimes blurry at night. After watching this video, i start to think back about my postures when typing and the position of my laptop. I have never heard about the 20-20-20 rule, but it sounds very useful. Definitely gonna have a try tonight!

+Danielle Liang The 20-20-20 rule is a helpful tip. But as for me, I do have an OcuShield screen protector on my monitor that protects my eyes and it really helps me coz I usually spend long hours working at my computer. You can try it yourself too. Most of us spend more hours staring at computers/laptops, smartphones, TV screen, etc. For this, we may suffer from digital eye strain. OcuShield is a Blue Light screen filter that protects our eyes when we are looking at our digital devices. It helps reduce digital eye strain and help with better sleep patterns.

A good substitute for the glasses is a program called F.lux. It helps me a lot with eye strain. It basically tones down the lighting on your monitor from 6500K to 3400K (from a bright blue to a mellow yellow). Useful for looking at text with white backgrounds or using a white canvas for painting.

Yes of course! I didn't mention it because that's a basic technique, but you should definitely start by adjusting your brightness, contrast, and text settings. If you're on Windows, there is a built in calibration and ClearType text adjustment tools you can access from the Start menu.

I have been working with this problem and trying out different techniques for years, and have found something that really works: doing a baking soda mask after using the computer. There is plenty of information on this procedure in the internet for beauty purposes, etc., but it works wonders for computer fatigue, eye fatigue after computer use, feeling like a zombie after hours at the computer...
You simply make a paste of baking soda and warm water and apply it to your face. Leave it on for about 5 minutes, maybe a little more, then wash it off. When I do this after hours at the computer, I feel like the tiredness in my face and head is completely lifted away, I feel totally refreshed, like new. The only side effect is that it dries your skin, so it is good to apply some moisturizer on your face afterwards. (I prefer warm sesame oil or warm olive oil for this purpose, as they're much healthier for the face than commercial moisterizers)
Why does this work? Baking soda is known to suck away negative or harmful energies from the body; baking soda, or baking soda/salt, baking soda/epsom salt baths are well-known for this purpose. Not everyone might believe in such an apparently mysterious means of action. This doesn't matter, though, since it works whether one believes in it or not.
Wishing good health, in spite of computer use! :)

Headaches are caused by fluorescent backlights in modern monitors. When you look at google page, for instance (mostly white), you are looking straignt into the lamp.
    Consider
    a) switching to a monitor with an LED backlight
    and/or
    b) switch your entire desktop and web browsing experience to "light on dark" scheme
    and/or
    c) dial monitor brightness way down, possibly even to zero, depending on monitor

I don't know, look up the specs for your model on the Internet. Most new stuff uses LED, but not all of it.
Also consider using "Stylish" addon for Firefox, with "Blackify" style. It will make all of the Internet looks like white-and-gold-on-black, but you can customize the background color a little (mine is very very dark green), and it will end up lowering stress on the eyes.
As side-effect, everything will look very spartan and some buttons will not be visible. Thats the price I pay.
