If I was solo, I'd rather just live in one of these full time. Buy a patch of land within commute distance of work, get you guys to put one of these in, build a little tool shed over it, and literally LIVE here.
I knew a homeless man who had something like this in Texas. One day there was a severe flash flood that drenched everything. I never saw him again after that. I think it's within reason to assume he drowned inside his underground home... This probably isn't a very good idea... Usually the real good ones don't just go underground but have like a mountain side entrance ⛰️ with a massive metal door similar to a mining facility 🪨 ⛏️ After that it has a tube tunnel going down or an elevator like shaft system. I wouldn't recommend this design... 👎
@AlFonso-p6p That's on design and equipment more than anything. This one, for example, has a co2 scrubber and an oxygen tank. And it's presumably watertight. So it's literally like a land submarine. All you would need is some way to check the outside conditions from inside, as well as security valves in the ventilation system to prevent flooding. Then you just wait until the water level comes down, or worst case scenario you leave if you run out of air. You could even build a decontamination room before the main door to be able to do so without flooding the interior. Obviously high ground is always preferable, but with enough thought into it you can build a safe bunker anywhere.
A few things I’d like to see different. After closing the ground level hatch would be good to be able to move the foot bridge back to hide the hatch door. Has it ever come up to have the submarine door open to the inside if it gets blocked on the out side you would be there forever.
Idk much but are the air pipes the life line of the bunker? Would be interesting to see how they can be hidden via a hedge, false yard ornament, ran into a small shed, through a wall and to a roof maybe? Idk. Just thinking big. What happens if someone on the outside wants in and jams it? All that being said love your work Ron! Wish I could afford one. Keep up the good work brother!
I can imagine having guests when things look grim. "Look, I've got to ask you all to leave. I have to get into my bunker. There's only room for the dog and myself. So, good luck to you all."
A few small things I would add. Games / activities book movies. You need to keep yourself from going crazy. A desk of cards doesn’t take up much space. And I would add curtains by the bed so each person has a space in the bunker that’s just for them.
Great for a desert homestead, half the trouble starting a desert home is scavengers stealing from site. If i had one of these structures half built out, i could store my gear/building tools when out of town. Eventually turn the bunker into a guest home and air bnb the property up top.
I was thinking it would be good to built with an entrance from inside the house. You could use it as a living room in the summer months and then still keep it equipped for a disaster.
This is the best one I've seen!!! I just watched the movie Greenland with asteroids and the few survivors were in a bunker! Some shelters I've seen those flimsy doors with tiny latches would not stay shut in a direct hit of a n5 tornado. Your's would! Plus looks comfortable!
I thought the same thing. I would paint it to make it look like a natural gas pipeline easement going through the property, or disguise them otherwise.
You can buy super realistic plastic "boulders" that are made specifically for that. They are drilled for air flow on one side. I saw some bunker company that sold these to go with their bunkers. It may even be Atlas
I noticed no escape hatch on this one. Was thinking, for the external hatch face, where the padlock goes, is an issue for me. What if some joker puts a padlock, or even just a bit of wire, through when you are in your bunker, is there a way to still open the hatch from the inside? The last thing I would want is to get all cozied up, find out it’s a false alarm, but be locked in my bunker with no way out.
Actually you can't lock someone in by locking the hatch because there is a pin on the inside that can be pulled out to release the bar connected to the lock tongue. I used to work at underground tunnels at a grain mill that had these emergency pullout pins on the inside of the locked hatches so the workers could escape if the main exit was blocked for any reason.
I have a question, first, won't the solar power system just be destroyed by the blast? And how can the bunker be powered alternately? Second, won't the air valve just be again, destroyed by the blast? Third, won't the escape tunnel leak through radiation? What is the overpressure valve for, and can you survive in the bunker while being inside the fireball?
Very cool, I would love to build something like this. I'm not sure about in Florida though. The water Table is way too high especially in the summer. Thanks for the video.
Coming from sombody who's worked in ICBM silos your NBC scrubbers better be pretty damn good and always have back up to the back up on the power supply along with a monster H2O supply just for starters.

I have 6 months of food for 2 people right now. I will add to that with other things too.
Why would it matter if they haven't? Anybody can figure out this bunker's flaws could lead to people dying inside. The purpose of a shelter is to protect you from danger, but if that danger suddenly impedes your air pipes or blocks your door, you're basically living inside your tomb.
I like this one ! I would get this one I live in Philly the city lol I don’t know if I can dig up my back yard in a row home and put this bunker under my yard …I know it would be really cool !
Way too many 'what if' scenarios here. Anyone trying to force this family out of their shelter by stuffing rags in the air vents will be in for a big disappointment as the shelter is equipped a Co2 scrubber and independent oxygen supply. If you're on the surface, soaking up radiation, you'll be long dead before the stuffed air vents have any effect. As for an obstructed hatch. A hand held pinch bar, rated for 10,000lbs can be stored in the bunker and used to overcome pretty much any debris. A hydraulic jack rated for 100 tons is also available (an M1 Abrams tank only weighs 65 tons), do the math on that. I'll take the bunker, you can have the stuffing rags. Good luck.
Great shelter. But is there an adaptor of some kind so the air pump can be ran manually of off an exercise bike? The hand pump is great but something that would circulate the air while working out would be a game changer.
Better to have than not have. I like it has some flaws though. As mentioned better hidden air pipes & it should have a secondary exit. Just in case you know. I have good way in mind it should be done.

I was planning on having one of these installed strait away befor i consider any kind of other structure on the land. That way when i do finally build something or even throw a double wide on it i can make some kind of a hidden, access to it threw the structure's floor in some way? What i was wondering is if this shelter could house up to 6 people? I saw there was a couch in it as well we the 4bunks. What if the couch was a fold out bed and someone was forced to bring in two extra or had to chance to save two unexpected people? Also in al actuality what is the final cost of the 30k shelter? Not sure what the installation of this small one would cost, but the bigger ones $100,000 and north have a $10,000 freight charge, $40,000 installation, $20,000 for off grid power, bringing the total up to $170,000 or so.

Or dose that include the installation and delivery?
Not sure what the installation of this small one would cost, but the bigger ones $100,000 and north have a $10,000 freight charge, $40,000 installation, $20,000 for off grid power, bringing the total up to $170,000 or so.
@@Tducks72 well i guess im getting a storm shelter? lol I may just pour my own concrete bunker? I can do the earthwork and forms and just have someone bring in the crete....Unless in my search for the land i find some with useful caves?LOL I gotta start playing the lotto... Ill keep looking for the 30k ones? thanks though
@@michaelw.urbansr.8617 lol yeah the lottery would be the only way I could afford it as well. I know they finance, but I wouldn’t want to be in debt for the next 10 years over it lol. Good luck with doing it yourself, I may go that route as well, if I get motivated enough lol cheers
@@Tducks72 well im looking for land now. In WV or eastern KY or TN? Trying to stay in the in the Mountains. With any valley floor heading away from DC and other targets for the enemy. With whats going on now ,Nukes could be an issue! So ill be visiting MIRA too soon! LOL The one thing i know i can do is build a solid reinforced concrete box in any shape i want it. The one thing i know ill need for it is the Air systems from Atlas. Its going to have to be able to filter radioactive particles as well! I have done a lot of research and plan to do more so that once its built it will last at least 100yrs without any maint.! Thats my goal anyway. So that any time in the next 50yrs all ill have to do is turn it on and climb in! With my modest budget i can still do it. Its just a matter of getting the land?! lol
I'm not sure but in tornado areas many people have shelters but I heard also that there is a man which don't have a normal house anymore and live under the earth in his shelter/ bunker.
A Geiger counter may come in handy!
That thing is still nicer than my first house
Would be okay for 1 person for a few months maybe. A few days for a family maybe.
Nice. How is the electrical cables, wiring run to the shelter? It's ok to use candles, propane for cooking? Runnantennavwires and cables...must be a conduit for appliances? If surface structures are wiped out(EMP or Direct EnergyvWeapon) then it's time to go 100% shelter power. What about a bicycle attached to a charging generator?! 👍
How much does it cost?
I see the DC power coming on but would you have plenty of that light ready for it?
I can see the toilet on it but isn't that a chemical toilet?
How much water does it have on board?
Great job with you guys. !!!
He’s really don’t want to die lol. But I love this shelter hope I can get one in the future
Could also be a guest room if you have guests over. Or rent it out as an AirBNB 😂
This would be nice to have if you lived in tornado alley. In Arizona? Not so much.
4 People in that small space underground would last maybe 10 hours, You are dreaming if You think 4 people would live that close for several months. After 12 hours maxium i would want out, no matter what.
They do all
The time.
It's called prison.
It's possible.
Nice set up.
So if power is out, will the CO2 filter and O2 generator still function?
Shelter/tomb. If something happens bad enough that you actually need that how long do you think he would survive? At some point you have to come out
Very, very cool also very smart..........
wow this is crazy that's my apartment lol next door I never new there was a bunker back there in his yard awesome good to know incase things go back. makes me sleep better at night lol
Lol silly girl, if things come down to it... you better NEVER rely on someone elses bunker/supplies/shelter etc. Aint nobody going to risk their safety and security for a neighbor. No disrespect, but think about it, you need to make preparations for yourself amd never depend on someone else. Id view you as an enemy and well..... you know. Not many are willing to take a stranger in and have em eating up food for your family, using your supplies etc. With all due respect, i hope you could maybe make a friendly relationship with said neighbors and help foster a trusting relationship then maybe get some tips on how to help yourself. Definitely wanna know your community, especially when shtf
Sodas simp, I agree. And if she listened at all he has those provisions there ( clothes and all) for HIS family...not for nearby neighbors.
I need one in my backyard!
What happens if the electricity goes out? Do you have a power generator? I know the NBC filter can be hand pumped but unless you’ve got a shit ton of batteries...
Excellent bunker HOW MUCH WAS THE COST?
As equipped with all the scrubbers etc etc what did THIS actual unit cost??
Is it a “real bunker at a real house”?
I wasn’t sure if that was mentioned
