I have packed my ruck that way since I joined the army in 1981. Having all of your gear sorted and compartmentalized is far more efficient when it comes time to use it and forces you to look at your gear, think about what you really need and perform preventive maintenance on it when you are packing. I witnessed guys in various units through the years just throwing stuff in their packs and without fail either not have what they needed or, too much unnecessary junk. I'm glad that companies like Kifaru are still making quality equipment and what's more, have people who know how to use it. Great products, great company.
