I tried a Primus based on your previous recommendation of support hunting companies. (not jet boil) no complaints on my end.

I rund Trangia with a Optimus Polaris insida a Trangia Burner Cup. With this setup i can run any fuel i want without changing anything on the stove. Best setup i have ever had and i have tried at least 6 different stoves, everything from Primus to MSR and BRS-3000T.

Any high altitude considerations? I hunt high country Colorado, usually above tree line, 11,000 feet plus.

I'm looking forward to this response! Our house is located at high elevation, and the mountains we hike behind us into are even higher!

Not so much with altitude, but the cold can really slow down the effectiveness of an isobutane stove. Why its a good idea to store them in your sleeping bag if the temps dip. Liquid or Multifuel stoves will likely perform better at both cold temps and high altitudes more so than the canister stoves but can be heavier and more expensive. There are definitely trade offs to both. Lots of articles too on Rokslide or GoHunt too on this subject, and looks like plenty of folks have used their canister stoves at 11k + with no issues.

What about Jetboil? It seems to be a really popular option these days?

It’s decent. But the durability is definitely a problem. I’ve seen two break that were newer than my reactor. Where as my reactor is still running like a champ 7 years later.

I've been running the Coleman butane stove for 3 years now. It's cheap as a dollar whore and has been beat up just as much. Now that I've opened my trap it'll take a shit on me
