@@FreeOrderBallPerseverance21 I don't understand why this statement should even have any relevancy to begin with, though. You don't have to hate one to like the other. What, is it popular for Star Trek fans to hate Star Wars, vice versa, both, or neither?
@Nostalgia Poodle Maybe you are right, but I'd like to see some proof for it, like some behind the scenes information. Otherwise I can't agree with you. What you say about Star Wars has more to do with tradition, identity, nostalgia, or whatever you like to call it, and less with it being impossible to do. Of course, it would be extremely hard to do because of how iconic the original music has become and you don't create such music whenever you want, but to say it is impossible is ultimately an opinion and not a fact, no matter how likely or unlikely it is.
@Nostalgia Poodle What are you talking about? The movies were very successfull at the time, only the first one got mixed reviews when it came out. TNG even came out the year after The Voyage Home, which was the most profitable of the Star Trek films. Of course we all know about the reception The Final Frontier got, but that was after TNG had started. I think they just thought this theme was suited for the new show (which it was). Although I think you CAN call out The Final Frontier for lazily recycling this theme, but of course that movie had very lame production values because they rushed into production.
These words still give me goosebumps more than three decades after TNG premiere: "Space...The Final Frontier. These are the voyages of the starship 'Enterprise.' Its continuing mission: To explore strange new worlds. To seek out new lives and new civilizations. To boldly go where no one has gone before!"
That scene where Captain Mal Reynolds flies the Enterprise into the Death Star trench and blows it up with a Dalek is my favorite Babylon 5 scene of all time!
This gets me feeling all sorts of nostalgic. These movies were my childhood and I could watch them on repeat over and over on the VHS player and always be happy to watch them one more time. Those were happy days I am glad I got them. Now if only it were possible to share them and the goodness that was old Star Trek.
with the middle and end of this song I can see it now: You're alone as a Federation freighter captain, your ship is badly damaged and surrounded by 3 Klingon BoPs closing in for the kill....when all of a sudden a friendly warps in and you see the registry "NCC-1701"
The Enterprise then releases a birage of photon torpedoes and phasers in a wide ark, destroying one BoP,damaging another, and barely misses the third. The two undestroyed ships then warp back to Klingon space. You see sparkling lights and then, the familiar sight of a transporter room. You are immediately given food and drink,as you warp back to star fleet headquarters for questioning.

IMO, Jerry Goldsmith's music for Star Trek is the definitive music of the franchise. Just like John Williams' is for Harry Potter. IDC if anyone thinks Horner's or Rosenman's or Giacchino's music is better, to me Goldsmith is the sound of Star Trek.
"Life is a Dream" refers to portions of the music from Star Trek V being "a take" on "Row Row Row Your Boat." That's the song Kirk, Spock, and McCoy were singing by their camp fire. The last line of RRRYB is "Life is but a dream." It's not part of the music in this video, which is the End Title I believe. You can hear it most clearly in the music that follows the Main Title (where Kirk was doing some mountain climbing). Even for a mediocre Star Trek movie, Jerry Goldsmith wrote a great score.
From Chile, the end of the world. Listening this theme makes me revive a hundred moments of entertainment, thrill and dreams of what the future may bring.
This theme exists in several of the movies, but this version of it is from Final Frontier. Also, this is from the original score, not the version cut for the film, so the film itself might have part of the song edited, as happens in most films. Not to mention the album I found it on says it's from Final Frontier.
Hope they'll play an iteration of this classic theme in the upcoming 'Star Trek: Picard' series. IMO it''ll be a nice way to honor the new series' roots & heritage.
