    The bass countour is subtle, but helps you move from a fuller sound to a more strat style sound. It's not a super flashy thing but gives you that extra variety.
    I also found all Reverend Guitars I tried had excellent fretwork so I know that's not a "UA-camr special" guitar.
    Looking fwd to the charger 290 on my birthday (self present 😂)

    one of the best guitars ive ever played. so damn solid, fun to play, you can really play rough, and it responds in the best way possible. it demands to be spanked. and the p90's with the bass contour sound so damn unique.

    Best bang for the buck today. Locking tuners, bass contour, great necks, tone bleed circuits. Good quality. Built in South Korea. Our friends, that also pay a living wage. Not like Indonesia and China.

    I've been playing for about 40 years now, guitar and bass. When I would go into a music store and check out a guitar, the Reverend always beat out anything else in that store. Gibson, Fender, PRS; made no difference. The Reverend is a serious guitar for serious players. Their neck is so frigging comfortable. They play like a dream. Maybe I can talk the old lady into letting buy one. Or maybe I could redecorate the man cave.

    I just got one last week, phenomenal guitar. One of the most versatile I've ever owned in many ways, highly recommend. Excellent video as well, watched before I purchased but wanted to follow up and respond to the question, yes it was DEFINITELY a great purchase in the price range. Build quality on mine at least is well above the price range, fit and finish was perfect.

    I just bought one over an american strat and I'm not disappointed at all. Not a single flaw on mine anywhere. The p90s sound phenomenal through my blue voodoo120 and the roasted neck just set a new standard for me. I highly recommend tryin one.

    I was disappointed when I unboxed my Reverend Jetstream 390 because of a couple of very minor finish flaws around the neck pocket. I got over it real quick after playing it. The US quality control really shows up in the attention to detail of the frets, hardware, nut filing, action, etc. The electronics and build quality are far superior to a $900 MIJ Fender Mustang I previously owned.

    • @bsideguitar
      @bsideguitar  4 роки тому +2

      Thanks for chiming in. Interesting you had the finish issues, as I mention in the video I had finish issues also. Maybe just par for the course with them? Playability is great and you are right the attention to frets, etc. is there. Good for people who are looking to buy one to know.

    I don’t get why people hate on the Pao Ferro fretboards. It’s a great material and used to be reserved for custom shop guitars! I have 2 guitars with it and I really like it.

  • @frankvanheck8905
    @frankvanheck8905 3 роки тому +5

    I don't get it why there is no attention for the used electronics. The whole guitar is build out of quality materials that on other brands you will not find for the money you pay. And as a matter of fact the bass-contour is very usefull when you know how to use it.

      It’s also much more apparent on a humbucker guitar. I think it works as well as a prs coil split to give single coil sounds.

    On the Jet Stream they've the Wilkinson trem, but on the Charger no trem (apart from a small run Bigsby version). I guess they figure they can replicate some hint of the Strat sound in p90s for the Jet Stream, yet for those of us who really would only need 2 p90s as an alternate option to the Strat you'd have to have a luthier install their own trem on a Charger, take a pickup out of the Jet Stream, OR re-fit a P90 at the bridge in a Double Agent model. I like the shape of the Charger but would prefer a Wilkinson trem with it... don't know if I'd pay extra for a luthier to fit the trem tho.

    I love how they look, the specs and all but in every good demo I've heard they sounds almost muted, not very good at dirt sounds, not enough definision between notes for chords, no air, no p90s old school mids and no brightness, missing the p90's spanky attack too, no resonance. A very flat and generic sounding guitar overall

    The bass contour works much better on the other Humbucker, Revtron, and Neuvo 90 pickups, - not so much on the true single coils, - which makes sense.Just less to roll off, period.

      Hmmm I’d have to respectfully disagree. I have a Club King 290 and a Club King RT. The Reverend P90’s are very thick sounding with lots of raw mids more like a humbucker at times with Bass Contour up full and with the Bass Contour off helps it sound like a Strat with very overwound pickups on the bridge or neck and very like a Tele in the middle position. It actually feels a little more pronounced on that guitar than on the RevTron loaded RT. I love em both!!

      I have the Charger and the P90’s are superb. My band mate has a Gibson Les Paul with P90’s and these are easily as good. I have a bigsby trem on mine which adds more ring and I love that.
      No finish flaws on mine, I love it and rate it… it’s a keeper and is often my go to guitar when live due to the rawness of the P90’s and the flexibility of tone you can get out of it.
      The pickups aren’t overly wax dipped or anything so they are quite alive, but not microphonic-ally so…
      I use that bass contour pot a lot!!!
