This is awesome. I hope this becomes a regular thing. Seeing the competitive stuff from tekken 1 to 3 is certainly interesting nobody really talks about it. (Aside from mainmanswe sometimes)
Heihachi was S tier in Tag 2 for far more reasons than was mentioned. TTT2 had insane movement which let the Mishimas play their gameplan best: whiff punishing with EWGF and controlling spacing, and Heihachi did that exceptionally well. Heihachi also had a TON of buffs. OTGF was now a fantastic combo filler. D/b+2 gave damage and plus frames. WS+1 gave follow-ups like qcf+2 for massive damage. Add on a bunch of damage/frame tweaks with a wealth of tag combo options made him a nightmare at high levels of play.
@@shajitahe literally “died” in 5. If anyone was gonna comeback from death in a fighting game it’s the guy who’s first game as a real character had him say “you should have found a bigger cliff to throw me off of.”
This is an EXTREMELY interesting video and and I'm thrilled that you're turning this into a series! This must've taken so much time to archive competitive history as comprehensive as this. Excellent work!
Oh hey, just stumbled on this now and it's really neat, thank you! One thing: i wonder if there were changes between arcade & console Tekken 2 because Heihachi tends to dominate when i see modern-era tourneys at Japanese arcades. In particular, linking standing 1 (even 2 of them!) to Twin Pistons seems much more consistent in their videos and that leads to more damaging combos than anyone else has in that game. Since Kazuya only has Twin Pistons as a WS move that becomes a pretty significant weakness for him in comparison...i forget if Devil can do the same kind of stuff as Hei but he'd be #2 if so.
Kazuya has standing twin pistons in T2. I'm not sure how reliable jab, twin pistons is for Kazuya in comparison to Heihachi in T2 but it's still a thing Kazuya has access to.
Really great video. I'm still hopeful that Heihachi returns in future Tekkens, but it was great to see his whole history like this. One quick note, however. In the T7 Season 1 section you mention that none of the players who placed with Heihachi considered him their main. Mihawk still to this day pretty overtly considers himself a Heihachi main, though he'd probably agree that the character isn't great in tournament anymore.
Thanks for making this video. It was a great watch. Since Heihachi is Tekken, I'm damn well sure he's going to be in Tekken 8, same way Kazumi is in Tekken 7.
Amazing video. Tekken 7 is my first tekken so being able to take a look into the history of characters in competitive play is fascinating and helps me know the cheap stuff for when I play the older titles lol
This is a great video and love the attention to detail and presentation. Hopefully you can make Jin (and/or Devil Jin) one of the next videos up. Kazuya or Law would be great too
Bro cut the man some slack .. it's not a guide it's a history video .. and a well done one.. he basically summed up everything heihachi has been through in terms of gameplay and competitive play .. and even gave quite comprehensive guides for each iteration .. all that research and hard work for 8k views
Wait I'm pretty sure Heihachi is S tier in Tekken 5 DR, the new low he got completely patched up his big weakness of bad lows. It's always him and Devil Jin fighting for the top spot in DR.
I'd advise you to change your channel name if you want to keep up with content like this - will alienate alot of viewers into thinking it's a soundtrack only channel. Certainly did so on my discord.
Knowing something about the competitive aspect of Tekken 1, 2 and 3 with frame data is amazing :D

Cool video!
Waiting for my boy Kazuya!
King and jun
Guys, TMM already made Kazuya history review in his "Kazuya Legacy combos" videos. Namco, cool video. Waiting for King :3
You think you'll do a full breakdown on all the changes and tweaks to Tekken 5 compared to Dark resurrection?
I don't play Heihachi but this video was sweet. Do Bryan next! :)
This is awesome. I hope this becomes a regular thing. Seeing the competitive stuff from tekken 1 to 3 is certainly interesting nobody really talks about it. (Aside from mainmanswe sometimes)
Agreed i hope to revive competitive Tekken 3 one day

Very cool video. I love reading/watching stuff about older Tekkens.
Didn't think that Heihachi's actually at his weakest in T7 but damn
Guess who's back? Back again.
Watching this after his T8 reveal
Great video! This is a series I can see myself being fully invested in.
Man that goodbye to heihachi didn't last
Not at all, lmao.
Of the 30 years Tekken have been a thing, we only had to go 10 months without him before he came back. Quality story telling.

funny how the intro aged
He's back in T8

Ironically, Hachi is A+ high tier even in PSASBR

Awesome video!
Tekken competitive history finally!!!
Thanks for making this video. It was a great watch. Since Heihachi is Tekken, I'm damn well sure he's going to be in Tekken 8, same way Kazumi is in Tekken 7.
Didn't he die in the Tekken 5 intro? 😏
Great video! Thank you!

Great video
Amazing idea for a video. keep up the good work. I'm subbing.
Sick stuff. You should show the moves you mention tho

You should do Jin Kazama Pro tekken series
We used to joke Tekken 3 Hei had the cops called on him, He was more of a boss than ogre back then.
Can you do Kazuya or Jin please?? :D
Damn this video is awesome
R.I.P. Old Man
Whoa didn’t know this excited isn’t at subscribed

So TTT2 was part canon and part non canon?
Who would you put above heihachi tier wise in tekken 5 DR outside of DJ?
also wtf does attack priority mean? ive only heard that used in dragon ball fighters
How good was Heihachi actually?
Maybe Lee next ???

Oh wow really? It's difficult because I still want to do both on the same channel. What were people saying in your Discord?
