Thank you for this tutorial! I've made an adult hat and added the ribbed effect (front post, back post) from your ponytail holder video. It looks fantastic! I also started with a chain 5, slip stitch to make a ring then chain three. It worked perfect.
Thank you so much you've made the directions so clear. I've always had a challenge with increasing; until now. Your explanation was great. Thank you I liked the way you demonstrated your work. Your crochet is beautiful. I will make and adult size. I will look for future projects by you also. Again thank you and be blessed.
This video was so easy to follow! Thanks so much for your time. I'm learning to crochet just from watching UA-cam videos. Thanks for pointing out that the little section right before you close your round is not stitch. I've made that mistake plenty as well.
I have a positive tip for you, if you don’t count the chain 3 as a stitch and slip stitch into the first double crochet you will eliminate the seam and it will become more invisible! 💕🧶
I couldn't find where u tell what size hook . I crochet these hats for the children have cancer since they loose their hair. It's cold in Cincinnati Ohio and I have cancer several times myself. Thank you.. I'm Ann from Cincinnati and doing this makes me feel good or make quilts.
I crochet but had never done a hat before and I must looked at 20 videos. Not to mention that I pulled apart 7 hats in the making because the video didn't make sense then I found this one and finally my first hat is done and it fits me❤️❤️❤️. My only advice is when you get to top of each row slow down a bit it was a little had to tell where the first double crochet went. Otherwise your amazing 😉!!! Thank you
You are just so AMAZING! Thank you so much, I've been trying to knit a hat and getting rather knotted with circular needles, 4 dpn's, just two needles, this is going to be so much easier. You are so clear with your voice and the video of your hands working is excellent. Many thanks, I think now the winter's over, I will a few decent hats ready for next winter!
Now I am hooked on this one after my flower! What a night! This is awesome and I am happy to see counting! That will surely help me. I look at the circle and I just wonder at what point does it curl and not just get wider like a scarf. If you can comment on that it would be wonderful. I thought when you use back loops that makes it shape. Your opinion is appreciated. Thanks again for a wonderful night of education and enjoyment.
OMG thank you so much for this great pattern . one of the best video i have finally found where you made it so wonderful to follow. Your a great teacher . thank you again.
Thank you for the easy to follow instructions as I am a beginner. My granddaughter is asking for beanies for all her paw patrol pups so I am guessing it would be a preemie size. Any idea on hook size for no 4 weight yarn. Head circumference is 11’ approx except one is 14’. Any help is appreciated! Once again loved video!
hi, thanks. Try these two links, www.amyscrochetpatterns.com/2012/11/crochet-preemie-winnie-pooh-hat.html and on this hat go to an I or H hook, www.amyscrochetpatterns.com/2017/01/crochet-0-3-months-puff-stitch-flower.html
there isnt any decrease, its all increases. It should fit, so you could go up a size in your hook or increase another round, but I think an increase would be too much.
hello thank you for this awesome video and pattern. I am a beginner I'm have problems with he magic circle, my question is can I just do a slip know for this project for an adult hat?
yeah you could a chain 5 slip stitch to form a ring, then do a chain 3 for a dc, then rest of the dc in the ring for round 1 instead of a magic circle.
Hi - fab tutorial - don’t know if I’m just having a stupid moment - but can’t seem to identify the link which tells you the hook size etc for the various size hats! Could you point me on the right direction please? Many thanks xx
I've not been able to find an answer to this question. I want to order 'travel crochet hooks" but their hook is like a Bates brand. I have only used Boye hooks. If I begin with the Boye and switch to the Bates while traveling, will there be a difference in the finished stitch?
here is my pattern for mittens, www.amyscrochetpatterns.com/2014/12/crochet-toddler-mittens.html and scarf patterns, www.amyscrochetpatterns.com/p/scarves.html
I'm using softee chunky size 6 yarn with a 6mm hook for a 6-12 month baby and it seems too big everytime I make it. Idk if it's just me. Would I use the same pattern for a chunkier yarn or does the pattern change??
Are you only doing so many increased rounds for the j hook? You could try a hook size down or try the small hook size with increased rounds described in the original pattern.
+Fernande McGuire 1st ear flap, you can slip stitch onto the side of the hat with your yellow yarn, begin the dc stitches, (like to have the seam in the back of the hat, so I do the ear flap on the side of the hat)2nd flap, fold hat in half and sl st in dc directly across from the last dc from the other ear flap. Follow directions below for both ear flaps. Row 1. ch 2, dc in the next 11 dc stitches, turn. -11 sts Row 2. ch 2, dc2tog. dc in the next 6 stitches. dc2tog. dc in the last st. turn. -9 Row 3. ch 2, dc2tog, dc in the next 4 stitches. dc2tog. dc in the last st., turn. -7 Row 4. ch 2, dc2tog, dc in the next 2 stitches. dc2tog. dc in the last st. turn. -5 Row 5. ch 2, dc2tog twice, dc in last st. cut yarn and pull through -3
Hello crochet jewel I need to make a beanie for a toddler but I don't know how long to make it without a measuring tape is there a way to know with rows?
do u have a list of the hook sizes for each individual hat? I used to have it and I could've swore I got it from your video but I can't seem to find it anywhere since I misplaced mine.
I keep following a link to see what hook you use for Specific hook? Corresponding size? I do not see such a link. Only a link that keeps bringing me to this video. Can you please help. Thanks.
i love your video tutorials. can you name all the sizes of hooks to use for the different size hats please. J hook for the adult. what are the hook sizes for the rest of them. i also want to say how much i miss your bootie video that you use to have on youtube. i love that pattern and would love to see it back soon with part 2 and 3 if its possible. or a written pattern i can print. that's the best bootie pattern ever.

Nice pattern definitely needs to make it
I got the number right but I wasn’t sure if I liked the hat or maybe the wool wasn’t think enough but I unravel my hat thank you for replying back
In australia our general yarn is 8 ply. So would it be beatter if i use 2 strings of yarn together hun
I usually use 4 ply sp it depends how thick you want your hat
I usually use 4 ply so it depends how thick you want your hat
Great help. I am going to try.
Nicely explained for a beginner!👌
Very nice and clear pattern
thanks!
thank you for the pattern, I used the h hook, but the hat looks like it would fit a young child. should I cut out the last decrease?
there isnt any decrease, its all increases. It should fit, so you could go up a size in your hook or increase another round, but I think an increase would be too much.
Try not to crochet too tight. I do that alot sometimes so I just go up a hook size.
Thank you so much for the information. Have a wonderful hooking day.
Thank you
Thank you so much for the lovely hat pattern. I cannot seem to find the link for the different size hooks to use. Would you please guide me there. 😊😎

I think it’s the same , I think the difference is the way the hook grabs the yarn but the size is the same
What size hook ? Are u using I just made from a diff pattern and it was an 6mm but she used 5ply I'm only using 4ply yarn found it thank u
I use different hook for each size

So for every size hat I am to go down a letter hook? H hook is for adult hat. I haven’t seen any info on this looking thru your details.
Pattern is in the description and h isn’t for an adult
Hi when you use a different size hook, does the holes in the bonnet go larger, or do you have to use a thicker wool.
No medium is ok and pull the hole to make it close
I'm having trouble getting a newborn hat the right size. It's very wide looking like a sun hat. I used an H hook. Will using a smaller hook fix this?
H hook will make it too big, try this pattern ua-cam.com/video/1vEf_4QOgF0/v-deo.html
You could try a hook size down or try the small hook size with increased rounds described in the original pattern.
yes i am. okay ill try that thank you so much!
great video. ty
Thank you for a great tutorial. Would it be hard to put earflaps on these hats? If so what would you suggest? Again thank you

I have a size 6, Bernat chunky yarn, can the pattern be used/ do adjustments need to be made for this? I want to make an adult hat.
Im not sure, but that may work or go up a hook size
hello I have a question
can this pattern be used with bulky or chunky yarns? like the 5,6,7 etc yarn weight
+yes but may make it bit bigger so u could go down a hook size and see crissie watkins
Thank you
Thank you so do I do 11 chains including the ch3
