    This is my closest remake of the sounds that I heard during an unusually intense episode of sleep paralysis. Obviously I couldn't get it precise, but I tried my best. This particular episode consisted of some strange buzzing and tingling at first which was the scary part, and then suddenly feeling like I was shooting upwards at high speed and then spinning around in a tornado with my arms spread out like wings. During the last part I felt like I was being launched in random directions and having things whiz by at bullet speed and then slowly regaining the sensation of laying back in bed. (Sort of enjoyed the whole thing even though some parts were scary.)
    Sound sources include my voice, rustling blankets and other objects used for movement and wind parts, iPhone signal amplified via contact microphones, and various sounds that were generated from scratch using synths and white noise.
    For those who are unfamiliar with this phenomenon of sleep paralysis, this is a description. During the stage of REM sleep (REM short for rapid eye movement), where dreams are most common, most of the body becomes paralyzed, except for respiratory functions. This paralysis is a natural protection mechanism to prevent you from acting out things that are happening in your dreams. This is referred to as REM atonia. Usually REM atonia will only happen after the mind has become fully unconscious, and shut off seconds before waking back up. In some less common cases, this protection mechanism can get off sync, and that is when it is referred to as sleep paralysis. A person can wake from a dream for example, and discover that they cannot move or speak. At this point the person is in a half-awake half-dream state and can start experiencing convincing hallucinations that are visual, auditory, and tactile. These can range from the falling/flying sensation, seeing figures walking around, tingles or vibrations, hearing loud buzzes, static, or other strange sounds, and in some cases, having an out-of-body experience and having lucid dreams.

      Yes I feel the vibration too. It’s when I can’t move I start feeling it in my stomach and then I feeling it moving up and down throughout my body. Then all the weird scary shit happens, like someone coming in my room and leaning over me breathing. I’ve even had times where someone would come in my room and lay on top of me, like right on my body right on my chest. I can feel there whole body on top of me and I can’t do anything or move so it’s really fucking scary.

    This is what I heard, although it was a much deeper rich sound. It’s like I heard these waves and felt them too. They came from outside my bedroom up the stairs and it washed over my body. I then realised I was in paralysis, but I knew what it was. I managed to wriggle out of it. Was an epic eerie powerful moment.

      Not even hear or feel them, I could literally see them in front of my closed eyes. I was literally moving on a huge amplitude and every smoothest attempt of move caused the aplitude got terribly shattered and buzzing sound immediatelly started to be more high pitched, much louder, and this all forced me to stay calm as possible

    I get buzzing too but that is the primary sound and it doesn't change much except in volume, intensity and slightly in pitch. It gets worse towards the end the more I struggle and am unable to break free and feel most terrified.
    It is super scary for me because I can't breathe and feels like I am being crushed by an invisible power or weight or that I am glued to the bed or being sucked into it somehow and can't resist the force. It is worse when I am on my back.

    • @slinger047
      @slinger047  6 років тому +3

      Anthony Astronomer I've found that relaxing and trying not to struggle while it's happening can lessen the unpleasant effects. Also even just the act of thinking can sometimes have an influence so try to imagine something pleasant if you get stuck in one of those scary episodes. It probably sounds easier said than done but with practice these techniques will become more natural and the scare will decrease.

    • @anthonyastronomer7829
      @anthonyastronomer7829 6 років тому +2

      It is easier said than done. When it happens to me I feel like I have a split second to try and wake up before it grabs a hold of me completely. It is like I'm being sucked into some eternal void, I can't move and am crushed and while I hear the buzzing I feel electricity flowing through my body. I can't call for help or even breathe. I'm so terrified and feel like I am actually experiencing my body dying and if I don't somehow wake myself up in time I will die. The stakes feel too high to risk it, and anyway, the evil and dread and panic and helplessness is so intense that I don't even have time to think rationally about trying different tactics like "giving in."

    Jesus this gave me intense flashbacks. Sleep paralysis when you’re a child is one of the scariest things you can experience. I never saw shadow men as a kid, but I saw things that horrified me without me even knowing why, like 2D balloons on the wall flowing in an infinite unending loop pattern, occasionally flashing lights of different colors, with horrible noises raising and lowering in pitch randomly, and feelings like somebody was electrocuting me in the chest and grabbing at the most sensitive areas causing intense and painful vibrations. It made me feel physically sick, like I’ve been poisoned. It made me feel like I was shot and was experiencing unending death, but there was nothing I could do to stop it except hope and pray that it ended shortly. It legitimately traumatizes you.

    Had sleep paralysis this morning. Pretty funny to think about...
    I heard windy/wave sounds while hearing seagull-like noises just like 2:43. It was accompanied by growling sounds, which got louder as I felt a presence looming over behind my right shoulder.
    My eyes were open, body paralyzed, but was facing a wall fortunately so I did not see any evil figures. I woke up shortly after.
    For me, sleep paralysis is extremely rare, but since it has happened a few times. I found out that attempting to sleep two hours after already having a full night's rest induces sleep paralysis.
    I recall giggling noises like that of children, sounds of distant "explosions," wall-knocking noises, and electronic wave noises just like 1:27
    Hope you enjoyed reading my recollections.
    Happy paralyzing!

      I've somewhat frequently had sleep paralysis and lucid dreaming as well as sleeping with my eyes open for decades. Apparitions of all kinds. Dream loops of doing routine conscious things like making breakfast, going to the bathroom, taking a shower, etc. When the lights dont turn on as a lucid dream test I panic and the loop continues until I share my body awake. Slurring speech. Etc. It amazes me how my mind can memorize every single house home or place I have lived in or visited in great detail.
      Just came here tonight after you tubing for auditory halucinstions for sleep paralysis. (I've researched it many times for years.) So here was my experience tonight about ten minutes ago. I fell asleep watching a UA-cam video. My eyes were open but I was asleep. I could see the end of the video and the comments right in front of me in my hand with phone. But couldn't move my hands or shake myself awake. Said the Lord's prayer. I could hear children. Schoolchildren as a matter of fact in the distance. Almost like choir practice. I'm actually on my porch smoking my ciggy now. But after the lord's prayer while during paralysis I heard a few songs which I wouldn't typically think of. Still dreaming, went out on the porch with my phone, had a smoke, called my gf and babbled and slurred incoherent stuff to her. Told her I didn't know WTF I was saying because I really sleeping. Lol...Finally shook my hands awake with my phone and the UA-cam video in front of me and actually woke up.

    I hear static noise and like some sort of food blender at full power. The changes in the sounds are not that sudden, they are rather smooth. I also hear only one primary sound that only changes in volume and sometimes in pitch. Towards the end it is extremely loud, almost ear bleeding, but that can't happen since it's an hallucination. Also, my first time I struggled to move and scream, but after that, when it happens, I just let it do its thing till it's finished and then everything is ok. The more you resist it the worse it gets. Just go with the flow.

Maybe it's the meds I take, I dunno. It's weird, because it's usually quiet and unemotional for me, though I must admit, I rarely experience sleep paralysis.

    2:06 I heard exactly this, got it only once when I was 8 y.o. and also sick. Now Im 37. Worst experience of my whole Life. I woke up in the early night and to my surprise, I was literally riding on a huge wave, amplitude, sinusoid, or whatever it was. I saw it all from first person 3D view, right in front of my closed eyes. I was too scared to open them, meanwhile every slightest attempt of physical move immediatelly caused terrible shattering of the "wave" and the buzzing sound got much louder, more high pitched and terribly annoying, so the wave forced me to stay calm as possible. I was too scared to open my eyes, but I dont remember the feeling of presence of any " entity". In 90s as a child, I havent chance to understand what this terrible unusual experience was, but after all those decades I still remember it very vividly. According to most common experiences, I think I had unusual different type of paralysis. As a child I was convinced that I could actually move, but it would be definitely better not trying it anymore because of "the Wave" . Even the very smooth breathing caused noising and shattering

    I've only ever had visual hallucinations in an episode once when I was a kid. The other times they've only been auditory, and mainly an evil sounding voice whispering either nonsense or really ominous things into one ear. While I don't have visual hallucinations, everything does seem darker around me and somewhat grainy, but I don't see figures to accompany the voices. The paralysis usually lasts 10 seconds or so, and even though I know that it's an episode while it's happening, I'm still usually trying to move and to scream (my husband's name usually), but my mouth won't open of course, until somehow I break through, like coming up above water, and then I'm fine. When the voice is saying really horrible stuff then usually I have to put the light on and I don't want to go back to sleep for a while. The brain is terrifying, honestly.

I used to see this demonic figure sitting on me and or lurking in the corner of my room slowly getting closer.
