great job!!!!amazing work!!! I work at Best Buy in Smart Home and I have to be super knowledgeable about the products or the customers will eat me alive! now I feel confident about talking to them about this camera!!!!
I was glad to hear you mention that the spotlight could not be mounted on a ceiling. I have an electrical plug in on a soffit on the front of my house that I wanted this for. You told me it would NOT work there. Thanks for info!
I was going to purchase one of these, but was informed by Ring support that to cut off the wired plug to hard wire it would invalidate the warranty, but a hard wired version called Ring Spotlight Cam Mount 8SH5P7 will be launched in the US soon and UK later.
Yes, they are releasing the mount option soon. One thing that you need to consider though is that the mounting option for this camera is only on a vertical wall. You will not be able to mount it in a ceiling, soffit or anywhere horizontal. I have to asked Ring about this because I was interested on the mount option too...Now, the Ring spotlight cam battery and I think the floodlight cam can be installed on a ceiling.
I just received and setup my Spotlight Cam ( the new Spotlight Cam Mount) It is exactly as you describe for this wired version, except that it has base plates to mount and WIRE directly on to (into) a power receptacle. I currently have it wired to an extension cord ( wired with wire nuts not wires stuck in plug ) placed in a window facing outside, and as soon as the temperature gets out of the single digits I will install it on my front porch.
Jeff Rubic - cool..hey can you check if you can install it on a ceiling or horizontal surface...I know the battery powered spotlight can do that but not the wired..
Yes according to the manual. You get 3 mounting plates. In combination with the plates, the camera can rotate on its post, and the post can be put into the base plates at different angles. Once the camera post is inserted into the base plate, it is secured from the back so this adjustment MUST be done prior to wiring, NOTE: this is a hard wired light and no matter where you mount it there will have to be a electrical receptacle with 120V power available. Just checked night vision, YUCK. Will have to put your Fiber Optic Hack into play before I install permanently.
P. S. In looking at the manual, It considers horizontal as a Ceiling. If you were thinking Horizontal as a "table top" , I do not believe that you could get the cam into a position as a level "parallel" view. With the ceiling, camera would aim down, so a table top would aim UP !!
Horizontal like a ceiling/soffit install..I remember I contacted sales about this when they started preselling them if I can install it in a ceiling and they said that the mount is not designed to allow the camera to angle far enough to properly view everything when mounted in a ceiling/soffit. So I don't know if they redesigned it or what.
I sent mine back to the store and got an Arlo, but I probably should have gotten two Arlo cameras and kept a wired Ring spotlight or floodlight. Ring has a better browser and phone app interface, its own audio notifications, better mounts even for the battery version, less expensive cloud service after the trial, and a camera replacement system at no extra cost.
Yes...Ring (wired) versions are better in motion detection than the Arlo or Arlo Pro.. I always feel that the Arlo is way overpriced for what it is...Ring has a light and a siren in the camera...not in the base station (Arlo)
Wish Ring.com would have designed the camera to be mounted from the ceiling. I wanted to purchase this one to replace a Haikvision surveillance camera, but now I see I cannot. Thanks for your informative video.
LOL... Actually I purchased the Orbit Bhyve which I'll be installing and reviewing soon..I didn't choose the Rachio because you can only change the settings on the app and not on the unit itself.
This might work betterThan the Blink for me. It would be great to have two way audio and the siren. Might could have a little fun with an intruder with that!!
LifeHackster I will be watching for it. I'm not ready to install yet so hopefully it will get on market before I do. Glad to follow you to learn all this stuff!!
jpark40 yt - You are welcome. The spotlight LED is more on the whiter range as compared to the floodlight...and the website states 900 lumens output...It is not as bright as the floodlight...

Hey! Thanks for such a great video! I preordered the solar spotlight after watching this. I do have a question for you... can you set the camera so that the light will NOT turn on? Thanks!
LifeHackster Thanks for getting back to me. I actually called Ring and the tech rep said that my idea of modifying the wired can to mimic the battery operated one is awesome and that he doesn’t see why ring can not do this. 🤞🏼
They should have...they can make another mount...BTW, the Spotlight Cam wired and mount version are basically the same camera... I showed that on the video that I just uploaded...Ring can actually sell the camera body themselves and let the customer choose which mounting options they want...
I'd like one of these for my backyard as well, but there are times I'd like to enjoy the area at night without the light coming on. I assume that you can turn the light setting off, correct?
Hi. I understand that you can turn the light Off manually. I have a different question. Can you set it up to never turn On the light automatically when motion is detected? I want the camera to record without the person to know that he triggered the motion and is recording; so I want no auto On of the lights. Is it possible?
Great video...just one question. I live in Canada and I'm wondering how this will stand up in the cold weather. Any Canucks out there with this security cam? Thanks
I really didn't check on it ( void warranty?) ...but the base has screws that you might be able to open it up and remove the cable. No instructions are included on how to install the cable to go through a wall.
it appears that the video recording did not begin until 20 or 30 seconds after motion was detected based on the bad guy moving along the side of the house and then the recorded video begins with the bad guy at the door having walked about 20 feet along the side of the house Through the Motions zone, but not recorded. Again I question this lag in video startup of the recording occurring sometime after motion was detected at night vision. Can you provide a demonstration of the video startup lag after motion is detected in the night vision mode and make your comments on this performance issue?
The footage on this video has been edited for time so that is probably why you think there is a delay in recording. All Ring "wired or plugged in" cameras like this one on the video, starts recording 3 seconds before the motion is detected.
Hi LifeHackster ! Is there a DYO possibility to change a defective LED Strip on this camera ? I made some searches but haven't found good information and part needed for doing that. I've bought one in 2nd hand and this was sold with a defective strip (i already have strong floodlights near the camera) but i am hoping to repair that...will I succeed ?
The camera part of the light is the same between the 2. So, the light is the only main difference. Also, both of them are designed to be installed in a wall or in a vertical surface. I know the spotlight cam cannot be installed in a ceiling. The floodlight camera can with some adjustments.
Thanks for the answer. I saw the spec on the ring website, flood light has 270 degree view and spot light 140 degree view. Can you tell you see the difference ? Also flood light has objection detection and facial detection but spotlight doesn't seem it has it on the spec sheet. Thanks again !
Paul - the 270 degree is for the light motion sensor and not the field of view. Both cameras have 140 degree FOV. I don't know about object and facial detection...but I think it is the slider in the motion settings where you can set if you want people only or all motion (including objects like cars) will be detected. I might need to test it out...I just put mine in the middle setting.
I wonder if I can wire the light on the camera into pre-existing flood lights? So for instance if the camera detects motion and the light comes on, it would also fire all my other flood lights. Thoughts?
The Spotlight "mount" version should have this option originally but Ring hasn't followed through with it..check out my videos - ua-cam.com/video/9ZKZ8hURMRE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/LRZQBb2SLUg/v-deo.html
It only records to the cloud..Ring charges $3.00/month or $30 yearly for cloud storage...if you have more than 2 Ring cameras, it is worth it to get the $10/month or $100/yearly plan that included unlimited cameras, discounts on future purchases and also with the Ring alarm...the monitoring fee is already included for that price.
Is it possible to add a Ring Spotlight Cam Mount to my previously installed LED floodlight? In other words, the Ring Spotlight Cam would be replacing the motion detector portion of my already installed LED floodlight only. Thanks for the info.
I haven't tried the Arlo products yet. When I was checking Amazon, seems like they have some issues with their motion detection lag time...I might check them out in the future...
Yeah I've had issues with the Arlo motion detection. Thinking of switching to the Ring Spotlight, thanks again for shooting this video! It was very helpful!
Ring doesn't mention if there is a limit so I'm assuming you can use the "share" function on the app to as many people as you want...notifications will not be an issue but whenever everybody checks "live view" at the same time will slow down or kick out some users..
Just bought one and installed today, it’s not dark and I keep getting motion detections from little bugs flying around, I tried to put the sensor as low as it could go and it still gets activated . Any recommendations is this common problem it’s a refurbished model thanks!
Do your light settings for motion work properly? For example, if you set the light to turn on for 1 minute after motion is detected, does it stay on for 1 minute? I've been going back and forth with Ring on this issue. Thanks.
Nice review, i got one question, because i can't find answer anywhere, is it able to trigger siren automatically, at the same time when is detect motion and turn lights off? Or it is only possible to turn it on by phone?
LifeHackster thats kinda sucks ;/ do You know any indoor camera with siren? Lights would be nice too, but i really need siren triggered automatically. This camera Was almost ideal :/
I can tell you that the Arlo Pro 2 has a pretty loud siren in its base station and also it is not a short siren...minimum setting when the camera motion detection is triggered is 1 minute. This might work for you. The Reolink Argus and the Yi outdoor camera has an alarm also but just quick siren like 3 seconds long.
My HOA has a problem with lights on a house. Can you use this camera without the lights being activated? Can you turn it off and leave it off even when it detects motion at night?
Yes you can. The light motion settings is independent with the camera motion settings and you can totally turn off the motion settings of the light. All I can say is "wow" to your HOA if they also control how you light up your house. I thought our HOA is ridiculous enough to mandate that we need at least a dozen shrubs in the front yard.
@@LifeHackster well i shouldn't say they have a problem with it but they require you to put in a application in for it, Where it will be installed, what is it with a description since it has a light. Pain in the butt because they could decline it
Ring says, light output is 900 lumens. It is an LED strip light (4 each side) on the edge of the body of the camera. I don't know why they called it a spotlight because it disperses the light and not focused..and definitely not as bright as the floodlight...
LifeHackster thanks! I already have their doorbell pro and floodlight, was really excited for this product but I don't think it will light up enough for the front yard on top of the garage. I've been waiting for a review before buying and luckily you made one, it helped me make my decision easier. I'm just going to have to get an electrician to install a new box to install the ring floodlight on top of my garage.
julius andrei foronda - Yes the floodlight will give you more light and is a better option in the front yard or garage...the spotlight has just barely enough light for my patio...
That night video quality looks pretty poor. are there any focus settings or other adjustments you can make to fix it? I do not think you could identify an intruder with that quality.
No focus settings or anything..yes the black and white mode of the camera sucks...I did a test and a video about it if you haven't seen it yet. Ring is working on an update. ua-cam.com/video/jfu3snsgC-c/v-deo.html
LifeHackster I have a question. When you download the Ring App can you download and use it on multiple devices for a sinle Spotlight setup(ex. android, ipad's) or does it have to be commited to just one device for monotoring.
Hey, do you know if the cable can be detached to pass it through a whole on the wall and attach it back? Asking because the cable looks like already attached and somehow doesn't look to be able to detach it other than cut or open mount area and try to do it that way. And you cannot pass the plug, as per will be an extreme big whole on the wall. Please, let me know anything you know about that. Thank you for your videos.
You are not able to detach the cable and it is connected to the mount which is pretty big also... you can cut it and reconnect but you will lose the warranty.
Yes. It connects to your WiFi. It is not completely wireless because you need to plug it in. I also reviewed their battery powered one which is completely wireless - ua-cam.com/video/LDHs6PfzA90/v-deo.html
I said pretty much weather proof because I don’t know yet if it is really weatherproof. It looks weather proof... but after owning it for a while like the floodlight cam... I can tell you it is weather proof...
Have you tried the motion detect feature at night? It won’t record anything. Motion light works great but not the recording part. I’ve already emailed Ring about this. Please share some info if it works fine for your Ring Spotlight cam wired version. Thanks!
LifeHackster , my WiFi signal is good. I installed it very close to my router. The motion feature works great in daytime but not in nighttime. Can you show me a video of your nighttime motion video? Not the nighttime live view video. Thanks!
I’m assuming you don’t have this camera because Ring made the plug flushed and flat so it is in a 90 degree angle and you will need that big of a hole if you want it to go through a wall.
The best approach it seems would be to cut the 3 prong plug off, drill a 1/2" hole in the wall and run the wire through the hole and add a replacement 3 prong plug on the other end that can be plugged in. A much sleeker and easier way to keep the opening to a minimum and plug into a receptacle inside.
I WASTED 3 hrs with wasted $$ to mount and install this camera with power to find out the camera's LIVE VIEW is garbage... It will show the room fine but when someone walks thru the room, they are never shown on the screen, but their voice works just fine, i can speak to them and they can hear me and we can converse back and forth but i can't see them at all.. !!! I have swapped this unit out 3 times already and all of them don't work when it comes to LIVE VIEW...
Yes i have the battery one... What i have noticed is that when it records motion it plays back just fine, i can see myself walking around perfectly, no lag at all... When i play back the "recorded" live streams, it also plays back just fine, i can see myself in real time... BUT... LIVE STREAM itself will not show my physical body at all... and when it does show my body, its 30 seconds delayed and its digitized... Everything in the background is PERFECT but the person walking around cannot be seen and if they are seen, its digitized and delayed...
I heard a lot of problems with the Spotlight cam battery right now.. www.reddit.com/r/ringdoorbell/comments/7lozx6/ring_just_is_not_reliable_its_not_your_wireless/ Here is a sample footage of mine - ring.com/share/6503213560032225760
LifeHackster: Thats exactly what mine does... I can see everything outside... the cars, driveway, other houses, tree's, sidewalk....everything is there... But for some reason LIVE VIEW ONLY its not see'ing anyone or anything walking across the camera's view... so when a car passes thru.. it wont see it, if i walk across the yard, its not showing me there... But i can walk across the camera's path and talk away and i can hear myself talk and i can do the 2-way audio and it works flawless but i cannot see myself physically there... 30 seconds later i see myself come into view but its digitized and only refreshes every 30 seconds... the next 30 seconds it shows me 5 feet over but frozen... Im like.. WTF... this is garbage.. !! But... when it plays back live view "recordings" or motion "recordings" it see's me just fine and i can see cars driving by perfectly.. So the camera is recording movement but the LIVE VIEW option is not showing movement of any kind which is kinda the point of having LIVE VIEW...
You can lock that box all you want to prevent someone from unplugging the power cord but did you not think all they have to do it CUT the power cord...???
You Tube let them cut the power cord...and see who will get a shock...trust me they will be seen first before they cut it...anyways, Ring has a warranty to replace it for free if hat happens..
Just wanted to let you know that they CAN cut the power cord to disable the camera.. IF they are wearing heavy duty insulated gloves, all they will see is a flash and they will not be hurt... Trust me, my cousin is an electrician and has cut extension cords flowing 15 amps of current and he cut that cord with his gloves and all we saw was a huge flash and some sparks but nothing happened to him at all.. !!!
Ryan Jewell - I know...It can only be mounted in a vertical surface like a wall...but I bet they will be making a mount for a ceiling mount in the near future...Their corded cameras ( like the floodlight) seems are more reliable especially in motion detection as compared to their battery powered cams...it records even before the motion is sensed...and I think it is because it is always on...so we will see if their battery powered spotlight will be the same....
It is not going to be a small hole though. The hole needs to be big enough to fit plug in if you don't want to cut wires or open up the mount to remove the wires (void warranty).
Somebody just also made a comment about cutting the cord an hour ago...so, I'll just copy my response.. "Yes, you can but hopefully the camera got a footage of you and has uploaded it to the cloud. Also, cutting the cord will cause a short which will give the "cutter" a jolt or a scare of his life... ;)"
At the steep price you should be able to hardwire install like a permanent fixtures, sorry I like Ring but I will be buying the Blink XT. If I buy this garbage I just know some fool will try a make a point and pull the silly wall wire.
They do make one...the mount version...silly wire but they will be on camera...if it does happen and they destroy or steal your camera..file a police report then Ring will replace it for free...
Yes, you can but hopefully the camera got a footage of you and has uploaded it to the cloud. Also, cutting the cord will cause a short which give the "cutter" a jolt or a scare of his life... ;)
Contact Ring...it might be an issue with the camera or WiFi issues...Ring has crappy WiFi antenna and it needs a strong signal WiFi for it to function without issues.
Yes, they can but the motion detection will at least start the recording and get them on the camera...I just then need to file a police report...send it to Ring and they will replace it for free...they have a lifetime warranty on theft and when your camera is vandalized.
I love your honest review. It thorough, and answered most of my questions before I would asked

Is there an option to completely shut off the camera, for example when you're dining out on your back patio? Great review BTW!
The way to this is to go to motion settings -> motion zones -> uncheck the active zone(s) and save. This will not record any motion.
Can you record how bright it is and how much light coverage it gives from an "on the ground view" please?

Hello great video and very informative can you tell me are the bulbs easy to replace ?
The lights are LEDs and are not replaceable. Ring states that the lights will outlast the camera unit itself.
I got the spotlight cam battery that suppose to motion out 30 feet but it's more like 15 feet
Hii hey if the light turns on does it mean it's recording or can you have a light motion with our recording?
How bright is the digital light ? Lets say compared to a 60 or 100 watt light bulb in an outside light fixture .
Ring states that its output is 700 lumens which is a tad lower than a 60 watt bulb which is 800 lumens.
Thanks for the video! What is the color temperature of the Spotlight? Same 3000K as the Floodlight?
jpark40 yt - You are welcome.

Thanks!
Steven Monahan - Yes you can. Turn it off on the toggle switch and also deactivate the zones on the motion settings.
Best video thus far, covered all points. Can this wired version be mounted under a eve?
Nope. That is the limitation of the wired version. It can only be installed on a vertical surface like a wall...

it appears that the video recording did not begin until 20 or 30 seconds after motion was detected based on the bad guy moving along the side of the house and then the recorded video begins with the bad guy at the door having walked about 20 feet along the side of the house Through the Motions zone, but not recorded.
Does the motion sensor work if placed indoors behind a window instead of outdoor?
sherikream - Ring uses PIR motion sensors and it doesn't work if it behind a glass window.
does it have to be plugged in all the time for it to work??
Yes, it needs to be plugged in..they have a battery version of the spotlight cam.
It definitely needs 5ghz connection to help with that lag delay
Hi. What would you say the different between floodlight VS spotlight is? Besides the light intensity ?
I might need to test it out...I just put mine in the middle setting.
does the light turn on in the day once it detects motion or only activate during night?
I wonder if I can wire the light on the camera into pre-existing flood lights? So for instance if the camera detects motion and the light comes on, it would also fire all my other flood lights. Thoughts?
The Spotlight "mount" version should have this option originally but Ring hasn't followed through with it..check out my videos - ua-cam.com/video/9ZKZ8hURMRE/v-deo.html ua-cam.com/video/LRZQBb2SLUg/v-deo.html
Hi will this camera work at body height a bit like the doorbell or does it have to be around 3 m high
Ring recommends it to be installed at 7 to 9 feet high.
for recording events, does it record direct on a memory card or to cloud, and how much does the cloud storage cost?
thanks you for sharing
It only records to the cloud..Ring charges $3.00/month or $30 yearly for cloud storage...if you have more than 2 Ring cameras, it is worth it to get the $10/month or $100/yearly plan that included unlimited cameras, discounts on future purchases and also with the Ring alarm...the monitoring fee is already included for that price.
Is it possible to add a Ring Spotlight Cam Mount to my previously installed LED floodlight? In other words, the Ring Spotlight Cam would be replacing the motion detector portion of my already installed LED floodlight only. Thanks for the info.
It was at first but it seems like Ring dismissed this feature because they haven't fix it as far as I know -> ua-cam.com/video/LRZQBb2SLUg/v-deo.html
what if you unplug it , is there any battery at all? or just dead. tyvm !
No battery on this version.. they do sell a battery version of the Spotlight cam - ua-cam.com/video/LDHs6PfzA90/v-deo.html
Nice vid and first
Thank You.
Great video thanks!!
Not sure if you've used Arlo or Arlo Pro, what are your thoughts about the Ring Spotlight vs Arlo products?
I haven't tried the Arlo products yet. When I was checking Amazon, seems like they have some issues with their motion detection lag time...I might check them out in the future...
Yeah I've had issues with the Arlo motion detection. Thinking of switching to the Ring Spotlight, thanks again for shooting this video! It was very helpful!
Joshua Kepley - You are welcome.
can you access the app/account on more than one device?
Yes you can.
Dear,
How many user can i share with him the live notifications i received on the same time when the camera motion deducted?
Thanks.
Yes, mine works without problems. I set it to 1 minute..
Thanks for the informative review. 1+ sub.
What is the decibel (dB) level of the siren? and light lumens?
Siren has 110 decibel alarm and the light has 700 lumens with a color temperature of 4000k.
Great! Thanks for the info :)
Hi can the spotlight for the camera be turn off totally?
Yes it can. You can turn off the light sensor too so that it will not turn on during motion.
How many A.C voltage current for this cam, wired one plz
100-240 volts
Nice review, i got one question, because i can't find answer anywhere, is it able to trigger siren automatically, at the same time when is detect motion and turn lights off? Or it is only possible to turn it on by phone?
The siren can only be triggered manually via the app... It would be pretty loud and annoying if it goes off automatically when it detects motion.
Tkanks!
Pain in the butt because they could decline it
Can you show how bright the lights are at night? Does it provide enough light to light up just the direct area or is it as bright as the floodlight?
You can download the app all across your smartphones and tablets and be able to access your cameras and also get notifications and alerts.
Can it still record an event when my WiFi goes off? (power outage )
No it will not... it only records and upload to the cloud..so if internet/wifi and electricity it out, then it will not be able to upload.
I was so mad when my live view only shows black screen
Hey, do you know if the cable can be detached to pass it through a whole on the wall and attach it back? Asking because the cable looks like already attached and somehow doesn't look to be able to detach it other than cut or open mount area and try to do it that way. And you cannot pass the plug, as per will be an extreme big whole on the wall. Please, let me know anything you know about that. Thank you for your videos.
You are not able to detach the cable and it is connected to the mount which is pretty big also... you can cut it and reconnect but you will lose the warranty.
LifeHackster Damn. That’s what I thought. Well, thank you very much.
how long is the power cord?
de ganni - The power cord is 20 feet long.
So i don't have to connect a wire to the router its complete wireless
Yes. It connects to your WiFi. It is not completely wireless because you need to plug it in. I also reviewed their battery powered one which is completely wireless - ua-cam.com/video/LDHs6PfzA90/v-deo.html
LifeHackster so it connects to wifi without wire
Yes.
Is it "pretty much weather proof" or is it weather proof???
I said pretty much weather proof because I don’t know yet if it is really weatherproof. It looks weather proof... but after owning it for a while like the floodlight cam... I can tell you it is weather proof...
Have you tried the motion detect feature at night? It won’t record anything. Motion light works great but not the recording part. I’ve already emailed Ring about this. Please share some info if it works fine for your Ring Spotlight cam wired version. Thanks!
I don't have any issues on mine. You might want to check your WiFi signal. Ring cameras need a strong WiFi to work properly.
LifeHackster , my WiFi signal is good. I installed it very close to my router. The motion feature works great in daytime but not in nighttime. Can you show me a video of your nighttime motion video? Not the nighttime live view video. Thanks!
Cute a 3" inch hole!?! The prongs only need a 1" hole
You Tube - Do you have the battery or the wired spotlight cam?. The battery one has major lag issues..that ring has to address..
I heard a lot of problems with the Spotlight cam battery right now.. www.reddit.com/r/ringdoorbell/comments/7lozx6/ring_just_is_not_reliable_its_not_your_wireless/
Here is a sample footage of mine - ring.com/share/6503213560032225760
LifeHackster:
Thats exactly what mine does...
I want the wireless one......
The Wireless will be available on Fall...I have one in pre-order and I will do a review when it comes out.
What do you do when power goes out hahaha
Yup.. no footage... :( You can set your router and the power going to the camera to a UPS and you should be ok.
I know they can...but they can try...if I'm around, then they will see another flash...and probably the last thing they will see...
You Tube Jesus dude STFU no security system is fool proof. They're all just deterrents.
Mario wow, look at the dirty mouth on this individual
Does this have a back up battery incase someone cuts your power cord? I think im going to wait for the solar one to be released.
Nope, it doesn't. I am going to check out the battery + solar version when it come out too...
LifeHackster i do like the concept more than the stick up cam, but wish it was more maneuverable.
Ryan Jewell - I know...It can only be mounted in a vertical surface like a wall...but I bet they will be making a mount for a ceiling mount in the near future...Their corded cameras ( like the floodlight) seems are more reliable especially in motion detection as compared to their battery powered cams...it records even before the motion is sensed...and I think it is because it is always on...so we will see if their battery powered spotlight will be the same....
just make small hole the soffit board, run cord to the nearest attic fan power-outlet or install one off the attic light supply
It is not going to be a small hole though. The hole needs to be big enough to fit plug in if you don't want to cut wires or open up the mount to remove the wires (void warranty).
Just use wyze cam it's cheaper and video crystal clear with night vision
Agree on the Wyze Cam... pretty good and cheap camera.
but they could cut the cord
Somebody just also made a comment about cutting the cord an hour ago...so, I'll just copy my response..
"Yes, you can but hopefully the camera got a footage of you and has uploaded it to the cloud. Also, cutting the cord will cause a short which will give the "cutter" a jolt or a scare of his life... ;)"
Only problem with the video and with the install is that someone even with short arms can just unplug the camera
Yup they can...it will also show on the recorded footage how short their arms are ;)
At the steep price you should be able to hardwire install like a permanent fixtures, sorry I like Ring but I will be buying the Blink XT. If I buy this garbage I just know some fool will try a make a point and pull the silly wall wire.
They do make one...the mount version...silly wire but they will be on camera...if it does happen and they destroy or steal your camera..file a police report then Ring will replace it for free...
I just purchased this. I don’t like it. I mostly want protection at night. An nothing
can't you just cut the cable?
Yes, you can but hopefully the camera got a footage of you and has uploaded it to the cloud. Also, cutting the cord will cause a short which give the "cutter" a jolt or a scare of his life... ;)
That cable is massive. Takes the camera out of the running for me. Looks like a microwave cable. Too bad.
Yes it is...it might be because it has to be outdoor rated...just like an outdoor extension cord.
None of my other outdoor camera cables are that big. They are USB cables and most camera cables for homes are Cat 5. Crazy.
this is the worse camera i ever had . you will love it for first 3 month only good luck guys
What was your experience with it...Mine is working good and the only thing I don't like is their night vision...too grainy..
So literally all they have to do is cut the wire ? 🤷🏼♂️🤔
Try it...and see...it is harder than you think.
I bought this when the setup was finished on the app all I see is black on the screen. This product is crap
Contact Ring...it might be an issue with the camera or WiFi issues...Ring has crappy WiFi antenna and it needs a strong signal WiFi for it to function without issues.
LifeHackster I set it up right in front of the wifi router it didn't work so I went back to regular Arlo and wyze cam both works fine
Super dumb that it has a power cord, should just wire up to a box like All outdoor lights do.
Ring also sell a Spotlight camera version just to be wired in a junction box like their Floodlight Cam.
LifeHackster yeah saw that after I commented. Ordered it already
Someone can just cut the wire to stop the recording...
Yes, they can but the motion detection will at least start the recording and get them on the camera...I just then need to file a police report...send it to Ring and they will replace it for free...they have a lifetime warranty on theft and when your camera is vandalized.
Did I just see 5000 emails
Bree Evian - mostly junk emails :)
