Totally agree, when I take a bad loss my trades will usually suffer for a day or two. Can’t tell you how many times I’ve chased a midday spike because of FOMO and gotten burned.
Like Tim S always says it's a marathon. So many variables. I'm self employed and afternoon is my times, I usually stop after the first hour, (Calif.) finding momentum the first hour and half is more like scalping for me. Its easy to find the big pre -market gainers but it seems like the tickers tend to get over extended and I miss that open move to watch the price action and then it pulls back. I need to study more on the tickers that have a good close. I tend to have a slight better result currently on NASDAQ type swing trades. Still trying to find my way.
I heard that midday was when most traders go to lunch. I will be looking for these 2 o'clock spikes and most importantly when there is a dip at the 8-9:45 open when it will come in with volume in the afternoon. I'm still learning.
Thanks Tim! Really trying to get disciplined with staying away from midday trading. Like you and Dux say, the winning % of a stock's performance is drastically reduced around that time of the day [so why bother trading low odds if high odds is what leads to consistent profits?].
I can't tell you how many times I was up $1k or more by 1030am and then gave it all back in the chop. And then been frustrated and wound up red on the day trying to get it back. It's very easy to get addicted to being in live trading when in reality most of my time should be on research and much less time in an active trade.
Good Morning Bud ! i totally concur with you ... I would earn a bunch of money in the morning and give it all back and even loose in the choppy waters between 12:00 & 2:00 ... Friday was a good example , made $23,000.00 on the breakout of Luminar Technology..Got out @ approximately 11:30 & reentered the position Short after its high ... Made another $7000.00 till i got squeezed out @ about 2:30 as volume increased ..But i firmly believe you can over trade & i have found generally it’s between those hours of 11:30 to 2:00 ...Id like to also tell you i have learned a enormous amount of valuable info from you ..I appreciate it all & watch everything you put out gaining more of a edge on every watched session ...My name is Skipper & again appreciate your mentor ship ... I’m a certified Arborist ..Ive owned my business for 45 years & also buy top of the line tools & equipment ... The right tool for the right job.. this brings me to the question of getting the right scanners & gapers ... I’m currently under Charles Schwab but am going to Stocks to Trade ...I’m somewhat uniformed on what would be a good main frame computer to buy as i’m trading on just a Ipad & Iphone ... I need Lightspeed , real time prices & accurate action ..Any input that might help me ???
Mid day kills me, I have to watch videos or I get caught up boredom trading and giving money away. Thanks boss for explaining what I already know but have trouble applying. Still working on my trading discipline
Im new so take this with a grain of salt but I notice some stocks fly upwards and downwards all day long, and then some have only one to three moves throughout the day. If you pick the right kind of stock, mid day seems feasible, but man are those ones nerve racking to play. they may carry a higher risk than is worth it.
Thanks Tim good video and so true! I've been chopped up mid day so many times. Since I have the time to be at the screens all day I thought I had to be making trades because I saw some "gurus" doing it and I just ended up losing. The stats don't lie! These so called gurus are trading for other people's entertainment and who knows how large their accounts are. I find if I give myself a written plan for the day of things to do during lull time I avoid the mid day chop. It's only when I'm "bored with nothing to do" I lose. There IS ALWAYS something else to do like you said. We don't get paid to hit buttons and make trades, we get paid to take advantage of good opportunities. Make a plan for the day of things to do during lull time and the results will show themselves. I use Andy Frisellas "power list" strategy.
Thanks for sharing i am a new at day trader and man up to get me feet wet and looking forward to trying your strategies out this next week coming up thanks for sharing
Literally everything you talked about here on NOT to do I did Friday with RYCEY. I’m still up on it. but that 11-2 window you talked about was exactly when I played the “coulda, woulda, shoulda” game. I bailed out of my plan and then hated myself because if I had stuck to it I woulda made about $1500 on the day instead of $200. Still a win so I’m trying to stay positive about it. Thank you for the video, I’m going to watch a few more videos and probably look into paying for your service.
Man that was exactly me with tsla last Friday even to the point of making 1.5k if I stayed in, but unlike you I sold at a loss, I was down 700 at one point then took a 500 loss
Hi Tim, how do you know when its worth holding a stock into after hours for that spike as I've noticed it a bit lately but I always exit my position before 4pm
Spikes towards the close, breaks intraday highs or past highs, high ass volume, and recent news or some legit news in that day. Those are good indicators to keep in mind when it’s going into the close. There’s risk involved every time you decide to swing trade, but your odds are better when you have multiple indicators like the ones I mentioned which can influence whether or not the stock opens sexy the next morning

I think this why I get stressed out. I'll Focus 9.45 to 11 am and 2 to 3 pm (cst). Thx @tbohen
Dude! That totally explains a lot. [This past 2 weeks] I've been totally finding the winners but getting in and out at all the wrong times.
I heard that midday was when most traders go to lunch. I will be looking for these 2 o'clock spikes and most importantly when there is a dip at the 8-9:45 open when it will come in with volume in the afternoon. I'm still learning.
Thx Tim … newbie but learning a lot from you..
Study haaard!
I totally agree. Good plan
Got caught in a bad couple of fake outs mid-day, learned my lesson. Loved the Video lesson!!
Thanks Tim! Really trying to get disciplined with staying away from midday trading. Like you and Dux say, the winning % of a stock's performance is drastically reduced around that time of the day [so why bother trading low odds if high odds is what leads to consistent profits?].
Great educational video. I usually buy in around a 11. Is when price drops. Depending on percentage
I noticed this too. For me I like pre market 4am-5am and 6:30-8:00am (pst) and call it a day after that.
Thanks Tim for that great and vital information. You’re awesome as always!
Thanks. Good videos.
Thanks for watching!

Exactly what happened to me, that's why I had to look this up...I was like why tsla stop rallying, then realized it was lunch time lol
@@rubberbandman3rd yeah it can be rough!
Great information ,Tim. I’m glad you shared this vital knowledge with us. You’re such an awesome and dedicated mentor.
Awesome advice Tim. Wish I would’ve done this the last week, would have not given my profits back if I would have just stopped trading at 11am 🙄
Ive experienced the same ... Don’t over trade .. take your green , get out , compose & watch afternoon set ups or don’t ...Stay green
I hate midday trading 95% of the time. The setup has to be good. Lesson learned a millions times
best of luck to those who put in the work!
Loveeee this one!!! Thanks Tim
Trying to gain confidence day trading and this video helped.
🙌🙌
Thank you Tim!!!
