This is a perfect example of what we talked about during our Fiberchat: that you don’t need to buy new yarn for every project, a lot of your patterns encourage people to use the leftover yarn. Can’t wait to start my sweater
Thank you Stephen....luv, luv your enthusiasm and confidence when choosing colour (which I totally lack, the confidence part) Can't wait to see the little sweetie sweater
Stephen , I love watching your podcasts. You’re so funny and real, also energetic. I love your marler sweater, it’s beautiful! Thank you for making it available for us.
I love this year's MKAL!! Thank you so much for the video tutorials!! I would be lost without them. No we couldn't hate you if you mess up. I don't have a favorite part of twists and turns as I'm still knitting clue one. Thank you for everything!😊
Ooooh aaaaahhhhh! 😍 Love the design. I have a yarn addiction and love projects that really focus on the yarn. I’m sure Stitch is super excited about getting one as well
Love this! This may be my first adventure to knit a sweater and it may be the one for the yarn I purchased with no idea what I was going to use it for. Stitch is adorable.
You’ve made my knitting pattern dream come true. Have 2 bags full of fingerling yarn, but not any pattern for top down sweater for that weight. (No good at math and conversions) Many Thanks!
Shout out to Karida!!! Shout out to Baltimore!!!! Stephen speaks to my heart… I’m knitting the slipstravaganza with yarn from my stash and before I finished bought 10 skeins of West Wool Bicycle. It’s just fun to have great colors to work with even if it means we have “more than we need”… it keeps things creative to have a nice color pallet that you love. 💕
I love the sweater, especially the not toned-down version! I think it would also be a great option for visitors to Stephen & Penelope to avoid 'keuzestress' (the stress of choosing). I was in the shop last week and there were so many beautiful yarns it was really hard to know what to choose. For this sweater you could choose various different colours and yarns! As I'm currently knitting my first sweater, the beautiful yarns are something I'll aspire to until I've proven I can knit a sweater that fits!
Its beautiful.. and it also feels surreal seeing you in the sweater because in South Korea it was 30 degrees celcius today or 86F. I gotta push aside the almost done winter WIPs and get started on tank tops and camisoles lol
I absolutely love your sweater! I've been knitting a big throw, and boy, do I have a lot of leftovers. These might be the basis for my very next sweater. Love all your colors, your enthusiasm, and your adorable dog Stitch! Hope to make it back to Amsterdam some day and visit your yarn store and go crazy buying more yarn. :-)
Hi Stephen. Greetings from Victoria, Australia. I love your patterns and yarns. I’ve tried to find the Garter Marla Sweater pattern on your website but unfortunately haven’t been able to find it 😩 can you please assist. Also do you ship yarns to Australia. All the best and again just love your designs kind regards, Dimitra
Just to clarify, before purchase if you could, it’s knitted with x2 fingering weight at a time, which is equivalent to 8ply/DK? Coz where I come from, 8ply/DK is mostly what one has as a stash… your “fingering” weight is our 4ply, usually cotton blend.. but I have a massive stash of 8ply/DK to use up… Can this be used instead of doubling up fingering/4ply? TIA 💙🌈🐻
I have a big ball of short odds and ends, all knotted together. I made a rug out of one such ball and left all the yarn ends just hanging out. I wonder if such a ball of yarn would make a good sweater? Or would the yarn ends look too weird and hairy?
Go girl! It will be crazy colorfull Sweater! Kinitting should be fun and this pattern it's great opportunity to go crazy and have some rainbow creativity release.
Awesome. Thanks, this is perfect. I’ve been looking for the perfect sweater fast easy sweater to knit and a way to use up stash. Still going to do the YAL but like having a sweater on the go too.

Looks like it could easily be converted to stockinette. 😉
Now if it could be v-neck. 😁
Neighborhood Fibre Co has a new preorder for our new Supreme Court Justice. A gorgeous deep blue and black. Make sure to check that one out!

Apologies just found it!! Woohoo

That’s correct. You could use one strand of dk for this sweater too.
How do you calculate yarn left for sleeves and make them both match with the body? tnx!!!
You can weigh colors for the sleeves and divide them in half and put them in 2 piles so you have matching sleeve colors

Yes! I would try it!
