Kobe Bryant‘s Finals performance in 2002 needs to get more props. He had incredible shooting percentages with over .500 three point Fgs. Especially game 3 was crucial with 36 points and shooting 14-23. Not only the numbers but also his art of scoring made him special!
Bean Bryant ! My generation’s MJ!
He was a good Robin to Shaq . Shaq was complete unplayable in 2002. 36 12 and 4 in the finals on 60 shooting . Kobe's style is more entertaining to watch but barely anyone talking about how Shaq dominated.
@@ajajala5081 You have to take into account, that Kobe was being guarded by Jason Kidd, whereas Shaq was being defended by Todd MacCulloch who only played for about 4 years.
Still don‘t get me wrong tho, Shaq was for sure the most dominant center during that time and is at least one of the best centers of all time.
Kobe & Shaq was a deadly combination for the opponents.
I have to admit I don‘t like the Batman & Robin comparison for Kobe & Shaq. It‘s rather that Kobe is like Batman to me & Shaq like Superman
@@inexpugnabilis bruh please. Shaq was the man and kobe was the side chick during that time. Sure kobe became a top 10 player but during that time shaq was the man by far
Kobe shot 40% in the finals 4 times. Awful lucky he had Shaq and played weak finals comp
My goodness 4:15 the amount of contact that was allowed! A basketball players' DREAM compared to what we see today. I know that was extremely satisfying for Kobe when he was able to muscle through all of that and still get that clutch bucket 💪
If there's no foul, then he travelled. Changed his pivot twice. Just saying. But since he got fouled but he made the shot, ball don't lie. play on
You changed the NBA forever
Love u Kobe
not as impactful as jordan though
@@voankhang2745 steph* changed how its played
@@voankhang2745 all Jordan did was score & dunk
@@ccece6938 nah they literally changed the rules because of Jordan. They didn’t do shit for steph, all he does is shoot more threes than anyone else
@@SoggySlopster oh they sure did. like how u cant sag off somebody? u have to commit the double which leads to easy passes? that was back in the 90s lmao. braindead rule. but sure he's the goat and he impacted the game more than steph

The NBA on NBC aesthetics is everything
I know right!
I think the NBA was better when it was on NBC. They presented the game a lot better than the current broadcasters.
@@TDH24Live That depends ABC has Mike “Bang” Breen, and Reggie Miller.

@@Weeby_historian such ignorance....probably was just a baby during this time so I doubt you know
Lmfao shaq was the main guy. Stop overhyping kobe. He was a sidekick and a headache for the lakers.
@@LPjunemarkthis is a brain dead stupid thing to say 😂
This is what I miss with the game today. You don't get a lot of contact anymore. Just how Kobe had to wrestle his way to get that shot to go up 104-100
He only forced that up because he believed he got the foul though
I look up to you as the standard of excellence, thank you Kobe Bryant
maybe not as a helicopter pilot hehe
@@lebronjamesharden3958 kobe wasn't the pilot...grow up buddy. If you are going to make a joke on someone who has passed atleast make it funny or atleast make sense
Greatest laker of all time in my book.
Still remember watching this, live. Great memories. I loved watching these Lakers.
what incredible shots by kobe at 0:55 & 3:48. rest in peace legend we love and miss you
This is one of the MAJOR differences in todays players compared to Kobe: look at the play at 4:18. In a Finals game situation, most players here would try to flop and draw the foul from the refs, just look at Tatum and how many times he did it in these last Finals. Kobe is going to stick through the double team, stay focused, and trust in his abilities to get a good shot off. And BOOM he does. Players like Tatum, or Booker, who get compared to Kobe are NOT built like this. Too much acting and flopping nowadays, thats why they losers.
Thats a travel btw
@@finnkealy3918 Maybe, I considered the same thing here too, but truth is with the amount of contact he got from the defenders, I think you can get away with lifting your pivot a little bit. Also, in full game time speed, the refs would've never noticed it either, because of this same reason. So nah. It was a good no-call.

Kobe went off this Nba finals
Can anyone show me the part where Shaq carries Kobe in this video I’m trying to see something 😭😭🤷🏾♂️‼️
He wasn’t a superstar on their first championship. I be livid he shot around 16 ppg
Kobe hit a shot then missed a BRICK.. then they came back down gave shaq a touch FINALLY and he converted then on the other end got a block .. bra yall need to stop sucking Kobe lord
Shaq avg 38points and 15 rebounds this series.
@@jamrr719 bra people just be stuck in their ways to much fandom
@@pereztomer3Kobe averaged 28 PPG in that whole playoff run , and he was hurt in the finals missing half a game and a full game. Also was an all star that year and made 1st team all defense and 1st all nba. You sound like a hater 😂
What a game we miss u kobe 💓
Always shocked in how vividly I remember these classic games. Kobe even had the Mamba Scowl then. 😄
We miss the iconic NBA on NBC..
The days where players just chew gum. No mouthpiece or any dental equipments. 😂
That is a crime against humanity that Kobe didn’t get a foul call on that floater play. Amazing how he didn’t give up a steal there.
Jason Kidd was niceeee
Honestly, before that corner three and assist to Van Horn, those were two pretty bad possessions by Kidd. Kobe redeemed himself after those missed free throws. Superstar-driven league.
those jerseys were everything
Nets had a squad.
"But Shaq got double/tripled team the whole series 🤓"

Times Kobe got the ball with a help defender - 3
The last NBA on NBC game. Missing bill waltons voice here. And oh, I hope that the first game that nbc covers will be a lakers-nets matchup too.
Best duo ever
Nope that’s Lebron and Kryie came back from 3-1 finals
@@eruptrl8893 they only won 1 championship tho. But tbf lakers got the easy way out as the nba's golden franchise. 2002 kings get robbed from officiating in game 6, 2001 i think the lakers would win the chip, but nba rigged it for the 76ers against the bucks which were the easier opponent for the lakers

I miss these Laker teams so much.
Kobe totally got fouled on that shot to put LA up 4. The Mamba!!
Random af but NBC had the best looking scoreboard
That 3 pointer at 3:26 somehow only counted as 2 points
Fr wtf 😂😂
Kobe ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Rip Kobe Bryant 🕊️🙏🏽
People need to realize that although Shaq was the MVP of those 3 championship Laker teams, Kobe was the CLOSER. Go back and look at the 2000 finals. Kobe took the game over in the most important game of that series (game 4) in OT when Shaq fouled out, playing with an injured ankle. In game 6 he hit the dagger shot and free throws to put LA ahead for good. In the historic 2001 playoff run, he closed out Sacramento in games 3 and 4 on the road. Closed out the Spurs in SA in games 1 and 2. Closed out NJ here and hit the biggest shots of the game in games 3 and 4. Shaq was the man, Ill give you that, but when the Lakers needed a basket late in games, its Kobe they went to.
True those two bricked free throws were clutch
Stfu. Shaq was the main reason lakerd won 3 straight.
@@reubengifford3830 So your that much of petty silly hater that you choose to zero in on those 2 missed ft's and ignore every other 4th quarter basket he made including the game clincher shortly after those free throws?
Zone in crunch time of a must win finals game is crazy lol
Ez finals for The Lakers, after Beating Sacramento kings in WCF
Search up kings vs lakers 2002
They shouldn’t have beaten the Kings. Everyone who knows ball knows the Kings got screwed over by officials
THATS GAMETIME! 🔥
I was 12 years old in the 6th I witnessed the whole series
I was 2
Can’t believe this was 2 decades ago. Damn.
Crazy man.
In today's rules, Kobe would have gotten fouled 5 times in that last play.
And Luka and LeBron would be crying about the no-call for the next 48 hours.
Again this game amongst many others dispells the myth that Shaq was unplayable in the 4th quarter. Look at how clutch he was. The turnaround short jumper off the glass with one second left on the shot clock and that key block in the closing minutes.
They need to bring that finals logo back
RIP MY IDOL KOBE BEAN BRYANT
I'll never have enough Kobe and Shaq.
Somebody needs to show this on Gil’s arena show when Kenyon talking that Defense shit 😂 Kobe !!!!! As I shoot my trash in the can
4:06Shaw: they was right there (teammates were open)
Kobe: I’m not letting them take that from me, that’s GAMETIME THEY NOT TAKING THAT SHIT!! 💜💛💜💛
Horrible Time Stamp 😭
@@kyreiseward1988 😂🤦🏾♂️ oh shit my bad
Very interesting moment. The team had much respect for Shaw. He probably always reminded them of little things like that, and it probably made them all better.
Kobe being a “sidekick” hurts his legacy in the goat convo. But if you see these numbers without knowing who scored these, and knowing the slower 2000’s era.. this is an all time performance..
Shaq deserved the FMVPs but in 01 and 02 West Playoffs, Kobe averaged 32-7-6 and 27-6-4 while Shaq averaged 29-15-2 and 26-13-2. Batman and Superman dynamic, not a sidekick
Felt like Bill was hating on Kobe just a bit. RIP to both
Look who is the Batman and its SHAQ. He creates so much attention and had Horry free up made his three, Shaq being the defensive anchor and Kidd can't take an inside shot, made a clutch dagger post up, blocked Jason Kidd's layup. And that is why Shaq is the 3-time FMVP and not Kobe
Wasn’t they supposed to change that 2 to a 3 when van horn made it
Rip bill walton
This was suppose to be the same 2 franchises this year smh
Damn, Jason Kidd was good!
#MAMBA was NOT taking that L 💯💯💯😍😎
At 3:25 Brian Shaw calls the timeout, not Phil Jackson. Something small but speaks volumes to why he’s the greatest coach. To empower that players that much is special. Especially with on 30 seconds left. He really trusted Shaw.
If Van Horn doesn't step on the line on that corner three then they'd have been tied
@ 4:09 Kobe said its game time I’m not going to pass that sht 😂❤️
3:45 top 3 all time 😭
💯
Hell no
Was Van Horn's 3 not a 3?? They never changed it to 101.
Horry always clutch
@3:33 anyone know why it was kept as a 2 and not a 3?
Jason Kidd from California vs Shaq from Jersey .
Prime Bryant is unstoppable
The fix was in Van Horn hit a 3 they called it a 2 the game could've went overtime
this year was late prime shaq and early prime kobe. maybe their best as a duo
Can't get over the idea the script helped get the Lakers to the finals and not the Sacramento Kings. They should have went to the finals
4:30 if that was James Harden or any player in today NBA. They would’ve looked at the ref for a foul
the thing that struck the most is that it's actually playing basketball !!! nowadays for the last 2min it's like 30min of time, pause, breaks and all that shit... I can't watch it it's just boring.
Hardwood classic finals"'🏀
Kidd shooting bricks
Man the game isnt too different. The 3 is pretty prevalent here. Alot less pnr which too me is appealing
Shaq admitted Kobe sacrificed in the NBA finals. If not he would have been the Finals MVP
This when Shaq got tight and Kobe haters said he was a jok 😂 at least we three peat tho
Kidd being afraid to shoot that wide open Jumper at 0:30 tho Jesus Christ
Even bench guards in the NBA today would have ether taken the floater or tried to dunk on whoevers under the basket 🤣

Jordan who ???
I don’t think he’s the goat, however he may be the best scorer of all time he had all the moves
@@Tojohiruma jordan had all the moves but he did it better. Kobe isn't even a top 5 player. People can't give a single reason on how kobe was better than jordan or bron. Wasn’t this the season the Kings should’ve been in the finals, not the lakers?
At 3:23 #44 hit a 3 but only 2 pts showd on the score bored that would’ve made it a tie game but you can’t 100% see that his feet is behind the line tho
