      Tom, is there anything specific you want to know about heathrow? We have something coming up so any questions let me know.
      Although there is some interesting interpretations to the ‘rules’…i can try and find a definitive answer for you.

    The 2 'Red' dots, either side of Rear 'Brake Light' fixture, ( On TX Cabs I recall ) were a Godsend. You could always tell if Cab in front was POB or not ..Why oh Why didn't they keep this feature ...... Ps, The cab on Left Lane ( N/s ) always has advantage, with regard to Picking up .. Whichever way you swing it

    Always driver in front unless its unsafe to move over. All cabbies should be singing from the same songsheet.
    A cabbie should be invited to explain to buttergirls and boys the importance of integrity on the road and how this is part of our legacy.
    It is so embarrasing when i have watched 2 cabbies arguing in front of passengers.
    Really does us no good.
    If you are let out by a cab with thier light on Always.... stop and say thank you and let them past.
    Manners manners manners help our life on the road easier.
    Rachel :)

    The pre production txe had orange lights designed to run down the side of the windows, but they were scrapped as the belief was that people would mistake them for indicators

    What about unofficial ranks like Praed Street ? some cabbies ignore you and pick up at the lights and justify it by saying you re plying for hire on an illegal rank ...Thank you Dean & Guys for the podcast

    • @WizAnn320
      @WizAnn320  Рік тому +3

      That is an interesting point. They are absolutely in their right to pick up. It is illegal if I am not mistaken for us to ply for hire whilst stationary on unofficial ranks. So this would be a little like a thief being upset that another thief stole something from them. If you work outside the system you really have no complaint. I have to be honest, I would ignore you too. If I am flagged and their is no rank, I will take it. But would have been great to raise this one maybe on the next podcast it might cause a nice argument.

      @@WizAnn320 Thanks for the reply, I find it funny your analogy of the 2 thieves, however I'd rather be the first decent thief 😀 👍, it happens as well outside theatres at bursting times, common sense should prevail here...Thanks again for this important topic 👏

    I'm sure i'll edit this comment as i've only just started, but from a customer point of view, i'm not hailing for a car on the outside lane of a 3 way street if i'm standing on the n/s pavement and to be honest i'm not even looking beyond the first lane. If i saw a cab swing across 3 lanes because he thinks he's on point i'd think he was grabbing the job off any cars on my side of the road. If the aim is to look professional in front of customers then this move would look the opposite for me anyway. Enjoyed the rest of it, the heathrow stuff seems mad and some fuzzy logic i think from some of the drivers there.

    • @WizAnn320
      @WizAnn320  Рік тому +3

      I completely agree, and from a customer perspective you are right. We didn't say this in the podcast but I think any sensible Taxi Driver would realise when the fare has gone by them. They would know that even though they haven't passed you they would look manic if they tried to get across. So even though it is their fare they would most likely drive on and leave it. If they can get across calmly and and in the general scheme of things then it would be fine. I think I would refuse to get in if the driver pulled a manic manoeuvre too.

    Hey guys, interesting listening to you, my question is regarding the feeder ranks, why are they not part of the Knowledge as its so important and therefore avoid the wrath of the various ranks mafia ?.

    • @WizAnn320
      @WizAnn320  3 місяці тому

      There are many aspects that should be part of the knowledge and aren't . There should be some general rules of etiquette taught as well

    Experienced drivers should no better and keep s clean sheet , we are not robots, an occasional mistake is sometimes made ( owe an apology ! ) !new drivers will desperate and cocky for money ! A brand new driver should perhaps be given the benefit of the doubt !

    • @WizAnn320
      @WizAnn320  Рік тому +1

      You are right Harvey, no matter how long we drive we still sometimes make mistakes. But as we gain experience we know when we should apologise. New drivers do just need to be educated and it needs more videos to emphasise this.
