Alright, so after watching this guy and several others it has come to light. I own a Tshirt company and here is the get down. Those plastisol transfers are beneficial for people that come in and order quantity. Anything over 24 Tees and can wait about 10 days to get Tees. Walk in customers usually just want one or two custom tees. Heat Transfer is a necessary part of the business. Majority of companies use Jet Pro Soft Stretch for light fabrics. Comes out clean and holds in wash for a minimum of 10+. No cracking. You can use almost any inkjet printer with dye ink. They tell you to use pigment ink but thats hogwash. The pigment inks clog your heads of printer and cause undue damage. Dye ink has been tested to work fine. We sell over 200 shirts a day with Heat transfer technology. Works fine! I love the plastisol transfers and use them for my frequently bought items but they cost more and starting out you won't be able to afford multiple designs. Plus if you don't know Adobe Illustration or Corel Draw you are in bigger trouble because these companies charge to do your artwork. Not cheap! So learn! Other heat transfer paper is Red Grid, Transjet, Blue Grid all decent papers.

+AlphaMayhem To me the best paper is Jet Pro Soft Stretch if you need a hook up look on ebay. The others are ok. never ever use a paper from a store. they dont use commercial stuff.

I will definitly testify to the fact that plastisol screen prints are the ONLY way to go. I have been using them now for quite awhile and they hold up amazingly well. You won't be disappointed. Thumbs up brother !! great vid.

I know this is an old conversation but I agree with Maritime Tees! I have used Jet Pro for white or light colored t-shirts and it works! I have a sample print for almost 2 years on a t-shirt that I have worn once a week and it still looks great! It never hurts to do the research yourself and know which ones are best for your specific needs.

bro ok, ill phrase the question different. WHAT KIND OF PRINTER, INK AND PAPER DO I NEED TO MAKE THOSE MYSELF, I don't wanna buy a book or order prints that defeats the purpose of me doing it myself. even if it costs a couple 100's I don't mind can you give me that information? the paper type? what type of link? and what type of printer? if somebody makes those it has to be possible to make it yourself.

+MARCINTHEMC since no one gave you the 411, let me tell you about some simple, clear info to do your own PROFESSIONAL shirts, with your own printer and materials. here's what you'll need:
      1) a heat press. lots of brands out there, all varying prices. just make sure the one you buy has a continuous heat platen (the part that contains the heating element heats evenly all across) and a timer
      2) A good printer with with A- pigment inks for cotton, cotton/poly, various materials. resistant to washing and UV
B- sublimation inks that can only be used for 100% polyester shirts
*check out Epson printers, most of them come with durabrite inks that are pigments. they are expensive as cartridges, but you could buy inks and a CIS (continuous ink system) from different manufacturers. just google CIS for your printer and you should find something
      3) transfer paper - this is a huge deal. many suppliers carry JPSS (Jet Pro Soft Stretch). this paper is great for white and very light colored shirts. for dark shirts, use 3G Opaque paper.

+Drewbie UnderFire Thanks for the direct answer to this question! Any recommendation on type of printer to get? I see a lot on Amazon etc that come with a sublimation ink and pigment inks like you mention but I am not sure on the quality of the printer. I want to get something that will give a quality print and last a while but affordable. Again thank you for answering the question I came here to find!

for an all-in-one printer/ink solution, google "cobra inks". they supply Epson printers with bulk inks for cost-effective printing. they have sublimation and pigment inks.

It makes sense. I tried the EZ transfer peels from Techni print & yes the cracks & peels happen after 1 wash. I would only use it for recreational or to do a family event. I have used the plastisol it’s definitely professional. I just thought for print on demand the EZ
Peels would do the job, however I don’t want to give a customer a product that won’t last. I’m thinking maybe the cracking is cause of the laser printer ink but you mentioned it doesn’t matter which ink. So thanks for answering my question! Glad I found your video.

Hey Tshirt help desk.I thank you for your video. ..its a great help as i had already purchased paper from a general store (U.K)and assumed they were good enough quality. So will follow your advice as Inks are so very expensive. KEEP ON DOING your videos as its always good to hear other viewpoints and experiences. My only critisism is the swearing. Otherwise, WELL DONE Sir , you are RUNNING A BUSINESS and so at liberty to charge for info.

Wonderful job !!! You are absolutely correct ......I've saved so much space and money in the long run by doing this lol you know your stuff man I have inkjet printer just for samples and recreation prints etc ...the funny part is I am a silk screen printer and I love it but when I had a six head press ,dryer, flash unit, exposure camera, screen wash tube, light table, and the list go's on...You spend more time on space and supplies than you do on artwork and building relation ships with the customer ..... This is a smart was to get you going !!!! GREAT JOB KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!!

I am barely trying to get started. I’ve done some designs at home using spray paint and freezer paper. The designs look great but not so much using spray paint. I’ve also used Angelus Paint which works pretty good but it takes time and patience to fill in. My question is, as someone who is just getting starting, what kind of heat press machine do you suggest/recommend? I’v seen them from $200 to $10,000!

The other problem with store bought heat transfer papers is the background can be altered if the blank transfer paper is not cut away. Had you placed that you tube logo on the shirt using your heat press I bet you'd have gotten better adhesion to the shirt. You'll get even better results with dye sublimation. As I recall the transfer sheets simply pop loose on their own once the transfer is done. No more burnt finger tips from peeling damn hot transfer papers :)

Good Game, I tried transfers and they SUCK, they are One Day Only shirts. Thanks for the info. I'm saving $250 for a heat press.(15x15) Let us know the pricing on those prints that get mailed to you. I need to start incorporating the pricing for these also. Thanks Gary.

I've used the iron on transfers before, the paper is always so hard to get off, more often than not ruining the shirt. Is it like that when you have a heat press?
