- Ever wonder where the Shift Lock is in your car? Most times it's right by the shifter. Toyota decided to make it look sleek. Here is where it's located and how to access it on a 2007 to 2011 Toyota Camry.

This is really useful, especially for my family (who never used a Camry of this model) and me (who actually has a 2011 as a first car and learning). It’s nice to expand on the knowledge of your car, and thanks to Google for bringing me here when my battery died lol
Your welcome.
Thanks for the tip! I had been wondering about that hole for years.
No problem.
Wow!! It works like magic. I was stuck and got my car fixed with no issues
Great to hear!
Thanks this video saved me a lot of money
You are Welcome
Saved me! Thank you!
Glad it helped!
Thank you saved my day!
No problem.
Sweet works
Thanks 👍
Thanks! You saved me!
Glad I could help!
Thanks, gear refused to shift from park because I was on a slope and released the manual brake before shifting the gear. A quick Google brought me here.
Okay, good.
Jack and I had to use that on Old Clanky to get it to move after we ripped all the stuff out of it. That had a similar panel. Didn't matter if that little panel broke, but it came out after 18 years no problem.
I remember the old Hondas you used to put your ignition key in there, nowadays we can't have that anymore.
Yes, my Honda had the key hole.
Life saver
👍
The save my life thank you so much
You're welcome.
@@xjoe81x where can I buy that lil plastic abs thing
@@anthonygallardo84 Good question, maybe EBay.
I have the same exact car, and I’m curious if you know how to remove the wood trim. I’m looking to replace it with a glossy black or even paint over the existing trim with black, but not sure how to remove it.
Unfortunately off the top of my head no, sorry. But if I had too remove it I would seach UA-cam, you never know if someone already made a video on it. If not slow and steady in a warm environment because plastic doesn't like the cold and you will break something.
Hi, I followed yur steps but how to I get it working again , my gear is always on N even if I try moving it like it doesn’t change
Usually when it happens to begin with there is or was a problem. The shift override helps the owner move it to a more common place like neutral, so it can be towed or looked at. You are experiencing more problems down the line than, time for a mechanic.
So I just took my camry out for a spin since I haven't driven my car for a long time. I put it in reverse and it wouldn't move. This is the second time this happened. The first time after switching the gears a little back and forth it worked. The second time I tried just barely pressing kn the gas pedal. There was a bang. It didn't seem to have damaged it or anything. I tried to see if my gears locked up like that again for 10 minutes straight and it was working fine. Do you think this is a problem? I'm not very knowledgeable on cars.
Yes it's a problem.
@@xjoe81x any idea as to what it could be?
Once it's on neutral and I move the car how do I put it back on Park?
With your foot on the brake just put it into Park.
@xjoe81x thank you!
If this happened, should I replace the stick only or I have to replace the transmission?
Depends on the problem.
@@xjoe81x my transmission moves fluently betweenP and R only.
Thanks in advance.
@@mohammedrazooqi9643 If it doesn't go into drive it's a transmission problem most likely.
If the shift stuck like this does that mean the transmission is broken? Or it is just the stick?
I don't know, it could be other factors.
@@xjoe81x thank you very much
The should have made it easier to remove the cover.
Of course.
