I turned my Redcat Racing Short Course Truck into a crawler and a couple of years ago? I used the transmission out of a cordless drill to get the gear reduction. Having four-wheel independent suspension definitely helped for some types of terrain that looked really neat for the articulation. It seemed to have better grip over some obstacles because all four wheels were on the ground most of the time, even if they were on uneven surfaces. The real downside is I had to make my own custom body because of a small wheel base at Redcat Racing uses. I also locked the front and rear differentials.
I did a slash 4x4 crawler once upon a time and it was pretty fun. 3s brushed and it still could drive 30kph which is eno7gh for minor hooligan action. The high cg chassis helps. Great work dudes really digging these vids
I considered doing this with a old Revo. Once I got it and noticed the hubs were huge I scrapped the ideal. Still think it would be cool though. Tires make a huge difference
solid rear axle are desert racers sct has independent from what ive seen and read lol its nice looking but im not a fan of the rear live axles rigs like the udr and baha ray
Why don't you think to make it working like a proper Trophy Truck at 1/3 the cost of UDR? I purchased ours at about 240€ RTR and only made a membrane in rear shocks. We use them only 2S and a comparison with the BR2 would be interesting.
Hear me out, cheap waterproof brushless system, some decent tires on beadlocks, lock the diffs, good oil filled shocks, cut up some beer cans and make panels for the cage and have a bad ass rock racers trail truck.
Definately not a Short Cours, as they do not run spare wheels or lights so you are right it is not a Short Course, there has been so many influencers who get this wrong along with the manufacturers yes SOOO many get it wrong here goes :- Shortcourse trucks no lights or a spare wheel or two, where as Trophy Trucks Have both along with a CoDog/"navigator" no passenger unless running to Ultra4 rules with a buggy type body panels no truck body.
Drill the center holes in the new wheels. Then fit. THE POINT IS, don't buy some cheap crap trying to make it do what it isn't designed for. Fix that thing, rock bouncer.
Ok not picking on you guys but. Please please please watch some real racing! This is a trophy truck not a short course truck , the udr and Baja Rey are also trophy trucks. Not crawlers they made for fast runs across the desert, sometime over 150 mph! That is way this truck sucks for crawling. This is a problem I find with a lot of r/c guys they love the toys but no idea about the real thing it’s modeled after. Your on UA-cam just type trophy truck and you will see what I’m talking about. It’s like people getting mad at a f1 car not driving like a indycar… they look alike must be the same . Beside this I love you guys keep up the good vids . But take it from a race fan and a 40 year r/c racer and fan do the research .

Im so glad you guys did this I was toying with the idea of turning an FTX Zorro into a crawler because it has the trailing arms on the back 😂🎉
Valiant effort boys
Great video you guys are hilarious 🤘✌️
When it got stuck on the rock I lost it! 9:23 😂😂😂😂
You gotta lock it, put some scale stuff on it, make a trail truck with it!
Live this kind of mad science.
I just noticed the Kramer Painting.. OMG that is cool .
Kramer is a racist.
Omg you guys are FUNNY> the smoke killed.
Lol for my first Crawler I converted an hpi wheels king and it actually worked pretty good

Oh, absolutely. we put rally tires on a 10th scale touring car chassis and took it offroad, and i couldnt believe how well it performed.
The u-d-durrrrr 😂😂😂
"And tires that are harder than Battle Toads on the NES" lolololol
“Harder than battle toads on the nes” 😭
How about a speed run/road basher combo?
solid rear axle are desert racers sct has independent from what ive seen and read lol its nice looking but im not a fan of the rear live axles rigs like the udr and baha ray
You bought the siplified version. The green one has all the whistles
Next time son👍🏾👊🏾✌🏾
dude, put big 2.2 wide offset wheels that clear the hubs on it since your not using a body, ive done that and it works
Can you fit 12mm hex on the wheels
What about Axial Yeti or Yeti Score. Maybe you guys are too young to know about those lol

it died ... now as far as the cage i think id be possible to slap wraith skid /links /axles. may take a lil dermal detail work. but just an idea.

Hmmwv have 4 wheel independent suspension and portals with a low center of gravity. I want a rc like that.
that would be sick.
Yeah lets see if its stable on road and make a rocket street basher.

So you buy the basespec thinking it's the top spec without reading the listing and then blame the car? Lol, ok.
Then blame the car for their shody wiring
👍
Drag truck!
Make it brushless n lock the rear maybe idk and make it be a hill climber/racer wahtnot thingy
It comes with locked rear
Better trail truck I'm thinking

Just came here to say
U-D-aren't
... I'll see myself out
The foggy camera lens is messing with me…
Tool
Why have you fitted a esc when it already has it on the back with fans pml don't ever listen to these fools how to fix anything they don't have a clue
No ESC. Just an empty case.
Dudes…. Love watching your videos but damn WTF are you doing? Trying to make a generic ass SCT into a crawler….. 🤔
Well said
