Till to Day the Cleanest Rig I've ever seen
I can’t explain how satisfying this was to watch lol
Thanks Anthony! There'll be an update video very soon!
So sick. Can’t believe I just watched this whole thing
Thanks for 18min of your time 😋
@@LarsGoldbachDP yeah man! The Komodo is hardly usable out of the box. I'm super impressed by this rig and will likely be ordering many of these parts soon
What an original rig. I could watch this for hours.
thanks mate!!!
I’m mainly impressed that you got what looks to be GoPro footage to look so damn good! Also clean build man.
hahahahaha! thanks man!
I second this! Looked in the description to see what it was filmed on haha
Cleanest Komodo build on UA-cam! Totally jealous!
thanks Nathaniel!!! I appreciate that :)
Legos! Solid big gimbal setup!
Danke Lars. So muss ein setup Video aussehen.
Gleich mal ne Stunde am Ladetag gespart.
Danke für die Blumen :)
my favorite DP PERIOD...so detailed and meticulous sure would like to learn from him. Rig is just spectacular ..... coolest one i've seen
Nice setup! I've bought one myself and I'd like to build a similar setup. Could you link each part and the amount of them? I've googled most of the parts but the cable bit made me unsure..
That's a MONSTER setup!!!! 👍💪💪💯
Danke Brudi!
Thanks for choosing Vaxis!
thank you :)
Best camera rig porn i've ever watched. This cage is unique.
Thanks Spenser! I appreciate that way more than you might expect!!! :)
That was really nice,
Amazing Rig. I have a question about the Tilta Power Plate on the back of the Camera. Is it safe to power all other accessories from the same plate while using to power the Camera? I heard that Red does not recommend this. please can you help? Thank you
thanks mate.
I dont have any issues so far. The plate passes through unregulated power from the vmount. I just use one Dtap, all the other connectors are lemos.
My knowledge in terms of electricity is quite limited haha
@@LarsGoldbachDP Thank you. Really great video you made. I love it. still looking for a solution about D-tap. cable. I am also very limited about electricity. Are Lemons are safer than D-Tap?
Tilta power plate is not RED-Approved, any issues that occur stemming from the plate will void your Komodo warranty, most other plates in the market are approved. Powering accessories using D-tap is also not recommended for most accessories (Especially your mon) as there is a chance you burn your SDI, unless you have a surge protector or similar between this connection.
what is the battery brand?
Bebob
@@LarsGoldbachDP V150MICRO?
Awesome 😎 wish to own all these things one day too
Great setup I've never seen before!
thanks so much mate!!!!
Need an updated video.
its all finished since March but the Voice Over haha
@@LarsGoldbachDP let’s go then 😂
Such a great video! Very clean setup for Komodo! Thanks a lot! I'm just very curious about the mouting accessary you use for vaxis storm 1000s. That carbon fiber piece does not come with the storm 1000s orighinal box, right? Where did you get it?
Thanks Thomas!
The carbon plate is manufactured by Ignite Digi Australia.
An updated version of the build will come as a follow up video later this month, with more information, better explanations etc.
Very nice setup man, it is so small, but versatile. I was wondering why you have connected the SDI cable without having powered everything on, to obtain a closed circuit and not frying your SDI port? Maybe I missed that part out.
Thanks!
Didn't have any type of issue yet with that route tbh. I assume also through using the Lemo splitters, but I can be wrong.
I you have any doubt with your setup stay safe and stick to the correct procedure I would say :)
A fantastic build! Thank you so much for sharing this video!
You plug your SDI in before batteries? or was this just for demonstration? great video!
just for demonstration :)
@@LarsGoldbachDP thanks for the clarification. Do you still love the ignite digi stuff?
Awesome build! 👌🏽
Besides that I love the copper(?) ashtray 🔥
It's painted haha.
Thanks :)
Nice job Sir Lars! Very tidy indeed. Question tho, why didn't you go with AB Gold Mount for the battery plate? Is it cause V-mount is more readily available?
Because I just own vmounts. Weirdly the gold mount also mounts "wrong" in that case vertically. 🤷🏼♂️
love your setup. would you mind let me know the model of monitor you are getting? thanks
SmallHD Cine 7 :)
Excellent setup brother thanks for sharing!
Thanks mate!! I appreciate 🙏🏼
Very clean setup! May I ask what indicates that the battery is almost empty on the voltage indicator? Does it drop to a certain level? Thx!
I'd suggest you dont go past 12.1V, then you're safe
very nicely done! do you know how much this setup is in total (with all new parts) probably 20k?
Is the nob on the tophandle for an easyrig? Nice Vid 🙌
Yes! It's their QR-System. Thanks mate!
What are the costs in total? Looks very expensive
~18k
Sehr geiles Setup und gut erklärt warum und wie du was machst ;)
danke Nicolai :)
Do you have to follow the sdi procedures when in this configuration? Or won’t damage the sdi since the accessories are on the same single battery ? Thx
Hi Luca, I follow it most of the time
Thanks for this!!
How's the IR pollution? Do you need a hot mirror ND filter?
I'm receiving my Komodo next week :)
In general I'm using NISI IR ND filters.
I tried to source it but I'm not too sure yet: I think there's a build in OLPF.
@@LarsGoldbachDP Ok cool. I couldn't find anywhere to confirm the built in OLPF. I have really good Nisi Tiffen and Schneider cine filters, but it would be nice if I didn't need to use my hot mirror all the time. THANKS!!
@@LarsGoldbachDP Tim Daust confirms in this video that the Komodo has an OLPF:

@@pckmusic good to know :) thanks!
I think the Cine 7 is heavier than the 702 though?
I want one of these so bad
Great video. Looking to get the vaxis storm 1000s for our gemini as well. You mention wanting to switch to a 12g variant because this will fry your sdi output? Can you elaborate on that?
Hey Chiel! I've put the offical RED support topic in the description. Have a look :)
@@LarsGoldbachDP Ty mate, overlooked that!
這是我看過最整齊最舒服的Komodo
監看怎麼不使用BM5 III WR,它可以無線控制Komodo
thanks so much!!! I deeply appreciate that compliment :) sorry took me a while to recognize I can just copy and translate the message :D
I don't use the BM5 because setting up the camera with the internal screen is fine. I own the Cine7, so I could buy the license but I actually have no need for it :)
Great build can you link all accessories by brand/name
Hi Lars! Great build I was just wondering what are the advantages of using the power breakouts instead of the battery adapter ports for this specific build? Looks like you could have powered everything directly from the four ports on the Tilta adapter even when sacrificing one D-Tap port in order to get the voltage meter reading and use your clever "hot swap" idea. It'd be great to know for my upcoming build! Thanks a great job!
Hey Michi, it's mostly for streamlining (I wouldn't like to have 4 cables running down the entire length of the camera and sometimes it can be possible to get rid of the vmount plate for size reasons) and (almost) exclusively using 2pin Lemo for accessories.
Other than that the plate offers 4 outputs as you mentioned but in some instances I have the need to power more than 4 devices.
@@LarsGoldbachDP Thanks for the reply! This is definitely the slickest and well thought through build I've seen so far!
where can i get this kind of 18-35mm lens? This Setup is amazing!
it's made by Sigma.
it's just the cine zoom version of the photo lens 18-35mm/f1.8
@@LarsGoldbachDP Thank you. :)
Cooles video 👍🏻 wie genau ist der ablauf beim anschliessen von sdi (small hd usw) . Hab mir auch ne komodo bestellt und hab jetzt schon schiss das die kamera kaputt geht 😂
Danke! Der Link dazu ist in der Beschreibung.
Schönes Setup!
Danke Dennis!!!
Thumbnail fetzt :) 🎥🔧👌🏻
Beste Bild!!! ❤️
Hey dude thanks for showing us your epic build, I was wondering what brand of cables you would recommend for the 12G SDIs and others needed and what lengths you mostly went for, as an alternative #safeway to build, I haven't yet got my Komodo, But I thought I my swell do it right first round haha. Thank you!
Hi Liam,
there are different brands building quality 12G cables. Just check Instagram or your local cinema suppliers. I bought custom cables in Germany and this possiblility might not apply to you whereever you live.
Ignite Digi Australia offer proper cables if you don't mind to import.
Length wise it depends on how you're building the camera. From 10cm to 1m everything could be possible.
@@LarsGoldbachDP Hi Lars, Thanks man, those cables look epic, Ill get a few lengths so Don't have to re order or be stuck, Gimble, Handheld, Im from New Zealand so shipping should be cheap as chips!!! On another note, what filters would you recommend, brand wise and type for general all-round exposure,
hey man, I was wondering how you stripped down the MBT12 since some parts are kinda glued, thank you!
Hey Nicolás, mine are bolted :) so it's been easy to strip
@@LarsGoldbachDP Yea mine too but they have some Industrial Glue on it, I will try heating It up or something, thanks mate!
great vid! curious as to what gear you used for the POV cam
Thanks man! Gopro Hero 7 with Headstrap
@@LarsGoldbachDP wow awesome color grade on it!
great great RIG!!!
thanks Patrick!
Yaaaaaa broooo
Famous visit 😍😍 thanks Peter ❤️❤️❤️
Do you know the total weight of your rig? I’m trying to decide if I can get away with the easy rig minimax for my Komodo build
bro i'd suggest the cinema 3
it's about 6,5kg/14lbs
@@LarsGoldbachDP yeah that’s pushing it for the minimax. So you have the cinema 3? I thought that one was for 22 to 30lbs
@@stevendeleonardis you can decide which springs you take before you buy
@@LarsGoldbachDP That’s dope I didn’t know that! Thanks for the tip Lars I’ll definitely go for the cinema 3 then 👍
I’ve wanted to watch something like this for so long! I’m 3 months deep into my Komodo wait!
thanks man :) I really appreciate
I get my Komodo last week... after 6 months of waiting ... Take care! ;)
Excellent A-cam rig for the Komodo! Does it tear down easily enough for gimbal or steadicam work?
Also, What is the rig you’re filming with? Is it a GoPro on some sort of helmet mount or is it the micro cinema camera from blackmagic? I’ve been looking into getting the micro camera recently.
Thanks!
Would that gimbal mate bottom plate work on the dji Rs3 pro do you know?
Hey Parker! No it just fits Movi Pro and R2. I double checked that with Ignites website rn.
@@LarsGoldbachDP thanks for the reply. That sucks. I was hoping to get the same set up as you here as it looks amazing but I’m only using the rs3 pro. Do you have any suggestions for a bottom plate?
What Matte Box are you using?
Edit: my bad, just rewatched the Mayte box part...
Cheers, awesome video
I've been looking for those see through zip lock bags, where can ik get them?
Amazon. FolderSys
I heard that there is a monitor that can control KOMODO wirelessly. It seems to be specially made for KOMODO. Does anyone know?
Its brand seems to be called PORTKEYS, and its model seems to be BM5 WR. If you have used it, please introduce it. How does it feel to use it with KOMODO?
I want to buy one and try it recently, thank you!
I know the brand but I never used their products.
SmallHD Cine7, Indie7 and Focus Pro can also control Komodo (wired)
@@LarsGoldbachDP ok, thanks
Super nice setup 🔥💪🏻 I guess its built for infinity if you tighten the screws like that 😂👀
Alles handfest
Gut investierte 18 Minuten! Könnte auch ein ignite digi pitch sein 😅✌🏻
🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@LarsGoldbachDP Update, habe nun auch bei Ignite Digi die Großbestellung aufgegeben, du influencer 😅
Would you nicely ask your friend if he could provide the 3D printer file for the 15mm rod clamps ? :)
it's not mine, I bought the stuff off of a friend.
Lens?
The lens you see is a Sigma 18-35mm
Tried watching it but made me feel super sick
sorry bro, so dont watch "Hardcore Henry" :D
How to turn a 2 pound gimbal camera into a frankencamera. Why?
I can see almost everything yet I cannot see anything
