    One time there was a leaf in my brother's air cleaner and the guy told him he needed a new one because of it! Haha What's the craziest upsell you guys have encountered at the dealership or one of those quick oil change kind of places? Comment below and let everyone know!

      I went in for a simple oil change and it turned into a $900 suspension repair. I was dumb and 17 years old ...but even then I didn't fall for it. He said "bro, we have to talk!" Then sat me down and showed me a bunch of stuff he wrote down, then said ...so what kind of payment? I said I'll come back....

      That's insane! Often what they point out is worth knowing but from my experience is not nearly as immediate of a concern as they seem to want you to think.

      Took my car in for a new EGR valve and the shop claimed I also needed new brake pads, rotors, spark plugs, rear calipers, and air filters (engine and cabin) too. They were trying to charge $1100+. Luckily my stepdad does my brakes for me and I know how to change the spark plugs and figured I could change the filters too. I say lucky because they lied- my filter looked even cleaner than the one in this video and there was absolutely nothing wrong with the rotors/calipers

      My brother quit his job over his boss trying to get him to sell new tires to an old couple that didn’t need new tires. His boss told him old people get scared easy, and he should tell them it’s dangerous to keep driving on their current tires.

      They normally are depending on the car. Some are super easy and you can buy the filters around $10.00 normally for a lot of cars

    Cool. I"ve been changing mine every 30k (service manual), but gonna start doing it every 20k as I've been getting a rough idle. 2006 Toyota Matrix AWD with 170k (5k OCI w/ full synthetic 5w30). Also, it can help to change filter on a warm engine as it make the hoses a bit more pliable

    Threw a K&N drop in filter in my 2010 Camry LE 2.5L i4. Been in there for the last prob 150k car has 200k now. I generally clean it once a year. It prob can use a cleaning every 6 months. But so far the car seems fine. I usually vacuum the air box along with cleaning the MAF sensor.

STUPIDLY I THOUGHT IT WAS DIRTY FUEL INJECTORS AND ADDED CLEANER BUT NO CHANGE. THEN I THOUGHT OF WHAT YOU JUST SHOWED "TODAY" AND ALTHOUGH IT WASN'T THAT BAD BUT NEVER BEEN TOUCHED IN AT LEAST 3 YEARS, I CLEANED IT. NOW IT RUNS SO WELL BUT SHOULD I BUY A NEW ONE (JUST AS MY CABIN FILTER WAS TOTALLY BLOCKED AS WELL. SHOULD I BUY BOTH?? THANKS HEAVEN FOR UA-cam AND GUYS LIKE YOU!!

    Had mine for 32000 miles 5 years thinking about replacing it. Took it to jiffy lube and they said it is still ok for 6 months 4 months ago. It is time but mine is not super dirty yet. I drive in Chicago Urban area without too much dust next to a Lake which I am sure helps. Replace them 2 years and 3 years before smaller engines with higher flows I am sure.

    so i recently learned on all my older trucks carb/EFI the crankcase ventilation tube that goes into your air intake will draw oil if your filter gets too dirty
    so if you are having an oil consumption problem and its not leaking cheack your air filter because you are likely sucking it up from your Cc/V tube

  • @tundras4ever552

    I’m at 19.5k miles and it looks pretty much brand new as far as color. Slight dirt between pleats but nothing crazy dealer said I could probably do another 10k before I need replacing it. Mind you I drive all highway. Heat also affects the paper pleats so always replace it after 2 years regardless of looks. I wouldn’t go past 30k miles on one. Too cheap of a part to simply not replace

    • @HSZGarage
      @HSZGarage  2 роки тому

      I agree. Most take no time at all and they are only a few bucks to give that engine nice breathing room. I probably should change mine come to think of it. It’s still really clean but it’s been a bit.
