I lived in a town called Seabrook which was about 25 minutes from Dusty hills House in San Leon. Anyway me and a dude were in our work truck and we stopped at a store. We saw a nice Mercedes pull up and out comes Dusty Hill and he's pumping his gas. We pulled up at the back of his car and asked was he Dusty and he said ya. After about 15 seconds he asked so what are you guys up to and that conversation lasted like 10 minutes. We took off he went into the store. About 5 minutes later he zoomed passed us and honked his horn and waved. The dude was so down to earth that the conversation we had seemed like I'd known him for yrs. I mean he was just cool and nice and don't have to talk for 10 minutes. God bless you Dusty for being a special human

I just went and seen them last night in Harrigton Delaware, a bucket list checked off. I wished Hill was still there, but I was very impressed with Elwood, though he seemed a little scared at first, last night he and Gibbons were just like Hill and Gibbons were, and his playing is extremely good. ZZ Top are Americana to my opinion. Every song they play makes me think of Texas blues, because to me thats what they are, and every song I hear brings back a big part of life I have lived, freinds I knew, some past on, and a whole mess of good memories before aches and pains, grey hair, pot bellies, and when I used potions of my past. They were there in my good and bad times, being a hero and a villain, they helped me grow up, and Ill always be forever thankful for them......

First saw Dusty at The Cellar in Ft Worth with his brother Rocky. Just the 2 of them. No band. Rocky on guitar & Dusty on bass. Playing, singing, & telling jokes. I was with "The Other Group". Me, Frank Beard, James Adams, Jerry & David Pool. Still in high school. Frank quit our band to join "The Cellar Dwellers". That was where he got to know the Hill brothers. Later joined them in "The American Blues". They travelled back & forth between the 2 Cellar clubs in Ft. Worth & Houston. Where they met Billy Gibbons and the rest is history.

My personal first introduction and Biggest! influence to blues/rock, listening to their first 3 albums on my older brothers 8-tracks, in the early 70's at around 11 years old, and being awestruck / captivated and gobsmacked - overwhelmed with wonder; Also my first concert at the Met Center for the Amazing World Wide TX Tour in 1976. I saw ZZ Top earlier this year and the whole band is amazing, Elwood is great but the most amazing is Frank Beard, that is guy is 70 years old and did not slow down, he played the whole one and half hours.

ZZ TOPS best, unknown, blues song:
ROUGH BOY. Saw them on first tour for their first album. Got three encores. We wanted MORE! A bass player myself. Started in the late sixties. Still thumpin'.

I saw them in them Dec. 1, 1972 at Winterland Ballroom in San Francisco. Back in that day there were three bands in a concert. ZZ Top was the opening band with Wild Turkey and Ten Tears After. ZZ Top was unknown at that time out here on the west coast.
