Hi I'm John, and I've been passionate about #history since I could remember. I majored in history and historical reseach and triained for a year under an actual historian. Ultimately I am a a History Buff like many of us. Let's #react and discuss things we know and so much we don't know about history!
In 2001 I was honored to be the recipient of the Jack H. Longaker History Prize. This is an award for a senior year student that shows a great passion for history.
How is this channel different from other history channels? It is simple, I have learned and worked along side many historians verifying and discovering sourcess that add more context to a person, an area or topic. This does not make meautomatically knowledgable in history, this helps me understand how we come to conclusions on history. However, enjoying learning about history we all like makes us History Buffs!
"I love Abba." 😂
I actually dig it too 😁, good music is good music!
Cunk is brilliant.
She is hilarious, yet provocative.
The guy she's discussing Andromeda with, is Professor Brian Cox. Ex-member of the band D-ream, before he got into Astro-physics. He quite often appears on comedy panel shows like "Would I Lie to You" or "QI". He was definitely having a hard time keeping a straight face here.
I had no idea! Thanks for that!
Back when he was a musician the biggest hit of the band he was in was "Things Can Only Get Better". Now he spends his time talking about the inevitable heat-death of the universe. Come on Brian, make your mind up.
She said "how many THREE..."
Where did they get a football in no man’s land? 😂😂😂
Philomena said that if she deemed that a clip of her just walking from one place to another was boring she just tripped to make it more amusing. She also decided to roll down a sand dune but she was rolling for quite some distance and was upset that nobody went to help her 😂 she’ll do anything for comedic effect! ❤
Living to 90 is often not a blessing, but a very painful curse!! enjoy your youth!!!
“Youth is wasted on the young.” - George Bernard Shaw
@@HumorAndHistoryI never understood this when my parents used to say it to me. Now, at 49, I totally get it. 😢
"A gang called the Suffra-Jets" - genius!
Well done! There's indeed no Richard the 5th.
Eric, you have no idea how much I turmoil I went through doubting the response. The longer the video went on, the more I thought "The comment section will murder me if there was one!".
Your point about the little touches of using her phone, stumbling etc. are pretty common to other work by Charlie Brooker, who famously signs off his shows with something along the lines of "show's over. go away!" instead of a more traditional outro because he leans heavily into the traditional british self deprecation. James May has a similar approach of leaving in the occasional error & bits where things go wrong just because they're funnier & more authentic that way, eg. in Man Lab & Toy Stories.
Those "little touches" are perfect! Not too many, just perfect and placed well.
I enjoyed this one made me laugh thanks for sharing have an awesome day
The first circumnavigation of the globe was accomplished by the Spanish vessel Vittoria, The ship sailed from Spain in 1519 by Ferdinand Magellan and returned in 1522, after crossing the Atlantic, Pacific, and Indian oceans. Of the 260 original crewmen, only 18 survived the perilous three-year journey. Magellan is often credited as the first person to circumnavigate the globe, but he personally failed to complete the circuit.
Sir Francis Drake (c. 1540 - 28 January 1596) was an English explorer and privateer best known for his circumnavigation of the world in a single expedition between 1577 and 1580.
The curse of oak island would disagree?
At around 5:44 Nuclear weapons lecture begins. At 07:22 Nuclear weapons lecture ends. You're welcome.
14:40 , did you just get whooshed?
That and he keeps pausing while she's mid sentence so by the time he hits play he doesn't get the first part of what she said. A lot of reactors do this and it drives me insane.
Magellan was the first to "circunsize" the globe.
Why are you explaining everything, it is obvious to us all what she means. You are spoiling it!!
How many *3* wise men were there?
14:19 :D
You know about king Richard the IV? Please do elaborate ;-)
nope 😂
Hey man i like your video... but just lil bit of nitpick recommendation...maybe for this kind of video like compilation instead of just press play, maybe you can playback like 1-5 second? So we can know some of the detail that maybe we skip because off the jump cut? But anyway great video and keep the good job mate 😁
Thanks for the comment! I am keeping a log of feedback. The goal is to find that happy spot for us all 👍
Check your DMs very important information is waiting for you. Henry the V'th is waiting for you LOL
Im just impressed with all yhe experts who were able to stay in character and not just crack up laughing.
Yeah, yhe bible diesnt specify the exact number of wise men.
English monarchs - (There have been 3)
Richard I of England or Richard the Lionheart (1157-1199)
Richard II of England (1367-1400)
Richard III of England (1452-1485)
Great list here! I likely Added Richard Cromwell. Nice job!
Silent Night by Stanley Weintraub. An excellent book on the Christmas ceasefire in 1914.
I love that topic. When I first started out we tried a video on it. Amazing and uplifting story in an otherwise dark chapter.
Britain definately has nuclear weapons. Our submarines are among the best. New ones being built.
List I found of Countries that have Nuclear weapons -
1. Russia - 6,257 (1,458 active, 3039 available, 1,760 retired)
2. United States - 5,550 (1,389 active, 2,361 available, 1,800 retired)
3. China - 350 available (actively expanding nuclear arsenal)
4. France - 290 available
5. United Kingdom - 225 available
6. Pakistan - 165 available
7. India - 156 available
8. Israel - 90 available
9. North Korea - 40-50 available (estimated)
There it is, I think I forgot North Korea. Thanks for adding this!
That’s just the ones we know of.
I think the healthcare problem is not the fact it’s obviously better than 100s of years ago in-fact it’s amazing compared to then but there’s the problem it’s available but not to everyone, especially in America where it costs $400 for an inhaler which probably costs a few $s to make. We are lucky in the UK because everyone rich or poor can access healthcare and a months prescription will cost you £9.40. So yes healthcare now is amazing but what use is amazing healthcare if you can’t afford it.
Inhalers cost something like a dollar to make, since generic versions only cost about $3 back when they still existed. In Switzerland, where I live, they cost $9 full price, and the copay is just 10%, so I pay 90¢ out of pocket.
Morgan is very droll.
Yes they do break.
She said yeah tney break, pain in the arse, we have to shoot it again.

Suffragettes began peaceful protest in 1903, but due to lack of reaction became more... "convincing"
