the experts were in on the joke. they weren't given the questions ahead of time, but rather told this was a comedy program and they should seriously answer philomena's questions. they were instructed to answer as if they were talking to a child. this has only gotten more popular with them. experts now vie to be interviewed!

I don't know how they do it now, though. Most people probably know who she is.

The interviews were all pretty lengthy, an hour or more with each expert. Obviously the writers cherry picked the best bits. You can find the interview here on youtube. It was really interesting. One of the writers is actually diane morgan's partner in real life.

@@9Kualalumpur Got this from watching an interview with the writers of the series. Like I said, the experts didn't know the questions beforehand but they did know it was for a comedy program. The interviews were all pretty lengthy, an hour or more with each expert. Obviously the writers cherry picked the best bits. You can find the interview here on youtube. It was really interesting. One of the writers is actually diane morgan's partner in real life.
