  • Hi and welcome back to my kitchen. So a trend which is really popular at the moment, especially on wedding cakes is making part or all of your cake look like its made from marble.
    So for this weeks video tutorial I am going to do more of a cake decorating techniques tutorial, where I show you how I make my fondant / icing / sugarpaste look like marble. I then finish off the cake with some edible gold leaf detail. I really hope you like how it looks and you enjoy the video!

    That looks so so pretty and awesome! I literally am at war with fondant icing so I’ve given up and ice all my cakes with buttercream or a chocolate ganache but that looks so good I really want to try it for my mum in law’s birthday cake at the end of the month! I just find that I either end up with a gooey mess or it just cracks and sticks to my rolling pin when I use fondant icing?!

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Edith, Yes of course, if you don't have gold leaf you could mix some gold edible lutre dust with some rejuvenator spirit to create a gold paint. You can then apply it with a paint brush and it would give a very similar effect. I hope this helps x

      @CakesbyLynz  5 років тому

      Thank you I am so glad you like it. With gumpaste decorations in order to dry them out you just need to leave them at room temperature. If you put them in the fridge they can go really sticky.

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  4 роки тому +1

      Hi Zoe, You can definitely make this without the white. Just add in your black and mix it through, stopping before its fully combined. I only used it to lighten the black slightly, but if you add a little less black it will have the same effect as you mix it.

    Should I have to wait for the gnash to dry before applying the fondant??

    • @CakesbyLynz
      @CakesbyLynz  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Hermela, Yes you want to wait until the ganache has firmed up. I always pop the cake in the fridge after the ganache to let it set. You can then apply the fondant over the top and it is nice and firm underneath allowing you to get smooth sides and work on getting a sharp edge around the top.
