Books Mentioned ❤️ Lore - Alexandra Bracken The Kingdom of Back - Marie Lu Of Beast And Beauty - Stacey Jay Graceling - Kristin Cashore Fire - Kristin Cashore House of Salt and Sorrows - Erin A. Craig The Star-Touched Queen - Roshani Chokshi Stardust - Neil Gaiman
This was super helpful. I just finished A Discovery of Witches Series and not ready to commit to any series at the moment. Thanks for all the suggestions!!
A standalone fantasy I really want to read is Star daughter by Shveta Thakrar (yes, it's south asian inspired!) and Cemetery Boys is a favorite of mine, you should check them out
I just read the blazewrath games recently which was a great standalone, but my favourite standalone fantasy is the house in the cerulean sea 😍😍 it's kind of light fantasy but it is still excellent
Thank you. These sound good. One of my favorites is Tailchaser's Song by Tad Williams. The cast of characters are cats. Tailchaser goes looking for his missing friend and finds himself on an adventure that leads him into cat hell and back.
Stardust is one of my absolute favorites!! I first fell in love with the movie years ago and last year I read the book. I love that they're not the exact same and the changes worked for the movie!
These all sound amazing!! I recently read The Kingdom of Back (which I had wanted to read forever bc Marie Lu is an auto buy author for me and I knew you loved it sm) and it was absolutely wonderful and enchanting in every way. 5⭐️ without a doubt and a perfect start to the reading year. I also absolutely adore The Star Touched Queen and I loved A Crown of Wishes even more❤️
That's a great list, some I've read and love, some I've now added to my TBR list. Fun fact, my son and I, unknowing to us at the time, visited the town of Wall when they were filming the movie. We knew they were filming a movie, but not which one, and years later we were watching Stardust and were like "HEY!!! That's it!"
Thank you so much for these standalone recommendations 💖 💗 😀 I feel like every fantasy book people talk about is part of a series and while they're nice, sometimes you just don't have the mental energy to slog through all of them to know what happens.
I want to get into fantasy this year so this is great! A lot of the well known fantasies are a lot of books and it’s overwhelming. So thank you for showing us stand-alone novels ! 🤍
Not being able to commit is definitely a problem for me 😂 The Kingdom of Back is on my shelves!! I definitely need to get to it Thank you for the great recommendations
SCARLETT LOST IN THE FIVE LANDS by Rajendra Sarilla is the best fantasy book i have read this year. It can be considered as a stand alone since the author has not revealed any plans of a sequel although the ending hints for a sequel.
listen. "the priory of the orange tree" by samantha shannon is the best standalone fantasy book ever written because it has everything you could possibly want out of a fantasy: a diverse and fully fleshed out world that's introduced organically, a diverse cast of well rounded and complex characters, a slow burn f/f romance between one of the POV characters and another prominent female character, a gay POV character who's in his 60s (i can count on one hand the amount of gay characters over like, 35 ive come across in fiction), matriarchal and magical warrior societies, two different flavors of talking dragons, unique magic system, political intrigue which is actually intriguing, people behaving rationally in a crisis, and no sexism or homophobia in sight. absolute perfection. the book is 800 pages which i know isnt for everyone but for ME personally if samantha shannon wrote 10 more of these id buy every single one.
Ugh, I wanna watch your videos cause I love the way to sum everything up and talk but then I don't wanna watch because I want to read every book you recommend 😂
Thanks for sharing these books. I have yet to read any of these. 😅 The Star Touched Queen intrigues me since I enjoyed Aru Shah And The End Of Time by Roshani Chokshi. I am also excited to read Aru Shah And The Song of Death. 👍📖😄
this is a great list! i've been looking for standalones 'cause i'd read a book thinking it was a standalone and then i get to the end and i'm like "oh." LOOOOL thanks!
I think they're technically both series/have companions, but I've only read the first installment: Sabriel by Garth Nix and Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden! Thoroughly enjoyed both of these on their own:) excited to add some of these recs to my tbr!!
I finished Lore but it wasn't up my expectations. I liked the beginning and end was good. I got bit bored in between. I don't know if it was because I had just finished acotar series before it or so that kindoff raised my expectations or what. But the good part was the plot keeps moving and isn't stagnant(Thank goodness)
I'm so nervous about Lore. It's on my tbr for at least a full year now, if not two. I was actually surprised when i realized that all this time I've been wanting to read it, it wasn't even out yet. And now I realized it's by the same author of The Darkest Minds which... wasn't a great book for me.
I read “Of Beast and Beauty” in late middle school but I don’t remember anything that happened, might have to reread! Oooo I want to read “The Star Touched Queen” so badly - I HAD NO CLUE IT WAS LOWKEY HADES & PERSEPHONE NOW I HAVE TO READ IT ASAP!!!
I really need to get into standalone fantasy books but my problem is I love long series, always have, I love character development and world building and all that so I love long books and series. I did read Heartless by Marissa Meyer years ago and enjoyed it at the time.
Really liked the video but my money didn't but hey we don't care hahaha. I have a question tho why do you have Gemina and Obsidio on the same shelf but Illuminea not?
Graceling is one of my favorite books of all time and I never hear anyone talk about it. I didn’t like Fire or Bitterblue as much but the new covers are beautiful.
I read a stand alone fantasy book last month by Tad Williams.. It was an intriguing story, but I will NEVER read another 700 Page book in a long time.. In fact I will NEVER READ another Tad Williams book again.. So many unnecessary chapters.😤😠😡.. It was The War Of The Flowers... I wanted to DNF it at 566, but I had to know the ending so I finished it..🙄🙄😶😶😶...
I needed this video so bad since I'm trying to get back into reading again and series are sometimes daunting. (Also is it just me or is there a flickering in the video?)
FINALLY! fantasy books that are not series of 100 books that make you spend all your money hahahahaha

It’s amazing 🤩
Just got that book from the library, can’t wait to read it!
I just finished reading House of Salt and Sorrows and I absolutely loved it! It was a lot spookier than expected but in a good way.
Yes definitely in a good way! Glad you enjoyed it 😊
Fantasy standalone book that blew my mind in 2020 is To Kill A Kingdom. It was so great!!
I so appreciate this video because I detest series and love a good stand alone !! Thanks for these awesome recommendations !
And my TBR grows :)
Ikr😭💔
One standalone fantasy that I absolutely love is The Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson..
My favourite

Love these recommendations. I didn’t realize the graceling books were more like companions then continues. Now I’m interested.
my TBR is completely full and i have multiple library books that are in danger of becoming over due. but i still added all of these on my library HAHA
I basically live in a constant state of overdue library books and an ever-growing TBR so I can relate😭
This was super helpful. I just finished A Discovery of Witches Series and not ready to commit to any series at the moment. Thanks for all the suggestions!!

I finished Lore 2 days ago and it instantly became one of my favorites!
I love spooky fantasy. I shall give it a go :D thank you. The star touched queen sounds fantastic as well.
Roshani Choksi also wrote Aru Shah and the end of time, its really good, its kinda a fantasy set in our world with Indian mythology!
Stardust is one of my absolute favorites!! I first fell in love with the movie years ago and last year I read the book. I love that they're not the exact same and the changes worked for the movie!
Loved Lore!! Reading Legendborn now. Enjoy watching your videos and recommendations 🙂
Definitely recommend An Unkindness of Magicians by Kat Howard. Standalone fantasy, kinda dark but it's a great world and the magic has consequences.
I love watching your recommendation videos 💖💖
I didn’t know the background of Alexandra bracken’s book, super cool!! I’ve heard it’s great
That's a great list, some I've read and love, some I've now added to my TBR list. Fun fact, my son and I, unknowing to us at the time, visited the town of Wall when they were filming the movie. Okay but I thought it was a series??? Now I have to pick it up 😍
I'm a recent subscriber and though I'm not the biggest reader yet, I still love your content. 😍 Can't wait to see more soon.
Please check out The Girl Who Drank the Moon! I think you’d adore it! 🥰
You made Lore sound like a book I want to try. 👍🏾 Plus for being a standalone.
Ugh, I wanna watch your videos cause I love the way to sum everything up and talk but then I don't wanna watch because I want to read every book you recommend 😂
Thanks for sharing these books. I have yet to read any of these. 😅
The Star Touched Queen intrigues me since I enjoyed Aru Shah And The End Of Time by Roshani Chokshi. I am also excited to read Aru Shah And The Song of Death. 👍📖😄

Ordered Lore and I’m really looking forward to it! What I really want to know is what lipstick shade are you wearing?

Omg thank you for the recs!!! Would love to read these soon!!! ❤️❤️❤️
I think they're technically both series/have companions, but I've only read the first installment: Sabriel by Garth Nix and Bear and the Nightingale by Katherine Arden! Thoroughly enjoyed both of these on their own:) excited to add some of these recs to my tbr!!
Sabriel stands alone really well. You don’t need to read the others to get a full sense of the world
I loved Stacey Jay's Princess of Thorns book! I think a fantasy standalone everyone should read is Stain by A.G. Howard!
This video is for me!!! I am a definite commitment phone of series!

I have actually been wanting to pick up a standalone fantasy!! How did you know? :o
A pretty good standalone I enjoyed is “Rook” by Sharon Cameron! It was actually the first standalone I ever read.
I recently started watching your videos✨️💕love from 🇱🇰 srilanka
I read “Of Beast and Beauty” in late middle school but I don’t remember anything that happened, might have to reread! Oooo I want to read “The Star Touched Queen” so badly - I HAD NO CLUE IT WAS LOWKEY HADES & PERSEPHONE NOW I HAVE TO READ IT ASAP!!!

I love your videos. I've added every one of these to my "Check it Out" list!
I love Elantris by Brandon Sanderson as a standalone
I needed this. Being in college I can I let commit to standalones (or duologies) and I’m not into contemporary like that
Thanks for the recommendations!!!
The shadows between us, four dead queens 🤍🤍
These all sound great. I can't wait to read Lore - thank you for your recommendations! 😁

.......Priory ?
I needed this video so bad since I'm trying to get back into reading again and series are sometimes daunting. (Also is it just me or is there a flickering in the video?)
I saw the flickering too, of the light
She does it on purpose between the books to show when she'll talk about the new book, is that what you mean?
👍💚
Yay! I’m early!
