TV resolution, well it's not the TV resolution, this was recorded on VHS and then was digitised on a antique capture card (WinTV or ATI Wonder) in 1999, the digitised recording is over-exposed and very compressed for the limits at that time. 2020 update:sorry if I was being elitist in this comment, I was a 15 y/o having a nerd phase **sigh** fuck my brains....

This really should've been titled "The mystery of the grape lady", and made it clear from the start that we don't have an answer at the moment. It's ok to present all the known facts without a definitive conclusion.

Nobody has made contact with the woman herself or knows what she's doing these days. Normally in these videos he uncovers a bunch of information about the subject's life since their fame, and what they think about it.

If you've ever fallen flat on your stomach and had the wind knocked out of you, you know there's ladies pain. It's actually quite terrifying cuz if you fall hard enough, you might even think you're not going to be able to get air in your lungs ever again and you're going to die. It's happened to me three times in my life twice as a kid in once as an adult, and every single time I thought I was going to die cuz it took so long for me to be able to get air in my lungs again. As a matter of fact twice I blacked out because I couldn't breathe. It's hard to even describe the pain to someone who hasn't been through it.

The Winnebago Man was a dude who got heated during outtakes for a minivan commercial. The outtakes were really funny and eventually went viral (back in the days of sharing VHS tapes). The popularity of the clips drove the man in the commercial to detach himself from most of society and then during a documentary about him they managed to track him down living out in a wood cabin.

Had they been on the ground level, she likely may have slipped and fallen, but not by the additional several feet which I suspect is the reason for her having broken her ribs and possibly other bones. I almost feel like she should have contacted "1800-Law-yers" as I do not understand the necessity of her being on this elevated platform with not railing to keep a slipping person within it if they fell. Perhaps I am overthinking this, but it seems like this occupation of stomping on grapes is likely to be a slippery occupation. Add to that the elevation, and it is almost a recipe for a "newbie" of stomping grapes to slip and fall and hurt themselves. Either way I hope that she has made a full recovery! Just seam's kind of creepy and almost like it was a possible setup. Speculation. Peace

There are a few minor mistakes in this video, for instance the term "meme" has been around since it was coined by Richard Dawkins in 1976 and meant exactly what it means today, that is something that goes culturally viral.
HOWEVER!!! The biggest mistake was by omission, in that there was no explanation for the low quality of the grape lady video itself. I realise it's hard for people of the age of the presenter of this video to accept this but both the quality of both the transmission AND the recording thereof, of video was of a MUCH greater quality than we see here. The reason for the low video quality is the ONLY mystery here.

"Didn't have any impact on her ability to get television jobs." Really? You do realize that in 1998, Atlanta was the #7 television market in the country and that Albany, New York was #60? Her career went into absolute free fall... no pun intended and she went from news to weather in a 50-plus market drop just to stay on air. To call the event an absolute turning point in her career trajectory is no overstatement. She still made a living, yes.

What EVERYONE who hasn't experienced having a severe blow to your mid trunk of your body (either front OR back) does NOT KNOW is this: the blow has rendered the diaphragm into useless spasms. Thus new air can NOT come in, it can only go OUT. I was kicked in the center of my stomach, on center just below my ribcage by an adult horse with both hind legs. It launched me 5-6 feet. I had never experienced this intensity of "wind knocked out of you" before. If I made ANY attempt to speak, aka let some air out, the air would FORCEFULLY leave my body but I could NOT breath IN. It was TERRIFYING the moment I realized that. SO I made those wailing sounds only a few times because I wanted to keep all available oxygen IN my lungs so I didn't try to talk after 2-3x- just got the short LOUD bursts of the FORCEFUL air rushing from me-making a sound I'd never made before. I had gone to nursing school. I knew that if or when people pass out from this, their diaphragm will then relax and the autonomic nervous system will begin your breathing again. I lay on the ground getting weaker and weaker. I was in 3-5 inch deep mud in outdoor paddock. My friend was afraid. I knew it would be okay soon, even if I passed out.I was relaxed but could not breath in. We locked eyes, I smiled gently so he could know that I knew it was all going to be okay. But he could see I couldn't tell him. I came SO close to passing out, got very weak. Shut my eyes, let my body go limp... But by doing so-getting so relaxed, all at once, I felt the tension give and I could breath. It took about 4 minutes time. Surely I hurt pretty good. But my pulse was good, strong, steady and I was not dizzy, not getting my vision "fogging" or darkening..either which could be a signs of blood pressure lowering...which could mean internal bleeding. I couldn't walk well on my own from my kick pain. My daughter washed off the buckets of mud from me. I had a wicked bruise that grew for 3 weeks before it started to dissipate. But all else was okay per scan at medical facility. The point of this is THIS WOMAN IS NOT CRYING OUT IN PAIN. SHE is having air FORCED out of her throat OVER her VOCAL CHORDS and it therefore sounds like a YELL/CRY or wailing. It is none of those things. She managed to say "I can't breath" maybe with the last bit of breath she could spare. I wasn't willing to let go of my oxygen to say that much since I couldn't breath in. Most people pass out from that bad of a hit to the diaphragm. The fantastic news is, your body WILL breath as soon as you pass out. So relax if you can. Keep people calm. If you were hit so hard that an organ could have been torn, bruised, or internal bleeding could be going on.. get ambulance NOW..if you're in the boonies, get airlifted.
OPTIONAL STORY+EMERGENCY MEDICAL INFO: I knew a teenager who ran his motorcycle into the back of a semi-truck at a stop light. His body slammed into the rear wall of the stopped truck. He got up, put his bike upright and caught his breath. The driver had immediately ran back to check on him/situation and called the police. The teen said he was lucky, nothing's broken, and no bad pain anywhere and smiled at the man. Trucker said "You may feel okay now son. But you're probably going to feel that tomorrow! They'll check you to be sure." Then the teen passed out, and then, he died. He had injured his spleen and bled to death internally. Once he hit that truck, he only had about 2-4 minutes. ALWAYS CALL 911 WHEN PEOPLE GET INTENSE BLOWS TO THEIR BODY THAT KNOCKS THE WIND OUT OF THEM, or just an intense blow from a punch stronger than the part that was hit, a falling tree branch, a horse kick, or a blow to the chest and then they pass out (that can be heart stopping- because the heart ALSO spasms, making it essentially useless like the diaphragm. THAT person needs CPR!-ALWAYS check VITALS before starting CPR. Call 911 and have another person check for medical ID band and back of license for medical info) ALWAYS CALL WHEN ANYONE LOSES CONSCIOUSNESS-EVEN if only for 8 seconds. They could have a bleeding artery in their brain or??) You NEVER KNOW what's going on inside! Lastly, keep in mind the "tenderness/fragility" of the human that was hurt. A toddler is mush. It can't take a punch that knocks out air without certainty that nothing tore inside. An older person is more brittle. They bruise VERY easily-which means their arteries are easily damaged. If a punch land on the abdomen a fit boxer who has solid abs and in great fighting condition, then much less unlikely he injured any internal organ. BUT a FALL from a blow and hitting the head...THAT's another added concern.

Actually, UA-cam launched on February 14, 2005, not 2004. Although the infamous Super Bowl 38 Halftime Show with Justin Timberlake and Janet Jackson on February 8, 2004, had the clip from the performance is what inspired the creation of the website.
