Oh yeah, WAY BETTER! lol, sorry just a bit of sarcasm. style is subjective. Neither was so memorable I will never forget having watched it. I want to see a breakdance battle to determine the real champion.
Nah. Just different style. Airforce went more traditional military drum line, Army went more contemporary. Both performed admirably. Contemporary is just more entertaining.
You should definitely check out ‘The First Medal of Honor Ever Recorded’. Really nice and beautiful video of those that sacrifice so much so that the majority can live in peace.
The performances are from the movie Drumline. Look up on UA-cam for the final scene from this movie and you will see the same music played and the one with both band is from the ending credits. The Army was playing the music of the band that the story was based on and the Air Force was playing the music of their biggest rival.
As an old Army vet, I'm ALWAYS going to side with the Army... but the Air Force is at least a child of the Army (used to be part of the Army back in the day). If you want to keep with the military theme on some of your videos, I highly suggest you check out the Air Force's 'Flash Mob' at a couple of the Air and Space Museums in (and near) Washington, D.C. Here's one from 2014: ua-cam.com/video/vniBBT7nRJg/v-deo.html Here's another from 2013: ua-cam.com/video/gIoSga7tZPg/v-deo.html Amazing performances, I wish I could have been present for them. I think you'll really enjoy these, if you get a chance to watch them.
You should do a reaction on West Point, the setting of this and where the Army drumline cadets live. It was a crucial fort during the Revolution, and has trained most of our famous military commanders. Also, as a local, I can tell you it's a seriously beautiful area of the US.
As an ARMY veteran I of course liked the Army drum line. The Air Force was a little to reserved for me, also way back when I was in high school I played that same kind of drum in the school marching band so I can appreciate all the skill and practice that both lines exhibited. Go Army...
This was the Air Force Academy cadets visiting the US Military Academy at West Point, before the football game. Since USAFA is in Colorado and West Point is in New York (thousands of miles apart), only a small part of Air Force’s drum line could be flown in, so it’s not exactly a competition, but rather just a fun talent competition.
For non-military branches and another look at American culture, almost any Big Ten college band is great. Ohio State, Penn State, Wisconsin, Michigan, Michigan State, Purdue, Illinois, and non Big Ten Notre Dame are all fun shows to watch usually for entrance to the stadium, pregame, and halftime
React to some Historically Black College marching bands. I recommend the "marching in" portion where they March In to the the stadium. Norfolk, and Southern University are my favorite.
I got excited. Thought it was gonna be the Army - Navy game 😅 every year the Army cadets from Westpoint and the midshipmen from Annapolis play head to head. It’s HUGE in football. American military has a looooong tradition of inter-branch rivalry. So the Army - Navy game is like the best representation of that. It’s almost as big as Super Bowl.
I was in marching band in high school and the drum line was always the funnest to watch. If you want to see some good stuff like this you should look up Drum Corps International. Also just found your channel last night and have been watching your videos for the past like 3 hours straight. Loving it.
Of the 4 services, Army has the best traditions. The Marines are the coolest force, but Big Army is like the old, wise man - he's been the main branch since the beginning of the country, so he has the deepest sense of tradition.
Courtney Speaking of Drum Corps, I forgot the name of competition showcasing top African American Colleges. Each college drum corps shows their best drummers. I believe that there are videos of that competition.
They’re playing each other’s drums. In unison. I always thought that epitomized the spirit of U.S. armed forces. Like Sparta. My shield protects you, yours me. Brother in combat.
I agree with your assessment Courtney. Just know that these are cadets attending service colleges to become officers and not too long out of high school.
I dont know anything about marching bands or drumlines, and I spent my time in the Army but the Army seemed to have an advantage here, looked like they had more people playing and more instruments. We are used to playing with an advantage though. Go Army.
I never would have guessed that these military videos would be so entertaining...guess I have some more UA-cam fodder to go through. If only I had the time...oh wait
It seems to me to be mostly a stylistic difference. Army was more "fun" but Air Force showed a bit more precision and technique, in my opinion. However, again I think it was mostly stylistic. I would imagine both academies would have an equal amount of talent being recruited.
Navy & Air Force have similar uniforms, but here's each uniforms by American military branches... It's going to be rather long, and I do apologise. --(US) Navy always wears white uniforms --Air Force wears that dark blue. Beyond this type of stuff, but I'm not sure what their uniforms looks like. --The US Army usually wear black & camo for ceremonial stuff. Like this. --The US Marines usually wear navy blue, and white with a bit of red with white hats, and black-bills. -- as far as the US Coast Guard, I'm not too sure. Honestly on the uniforms. I'm sure there's someone who can tell you the general colors they use for the uniforms of the US Coast Guard. -- I do know this, the USCG have white ships, with an orange & blue stripe on those ships. I love their ship livery! -- As far as the US National Guard's ceremonial uniforms, I'm not sure. Again, I'm sure that someone can say what the USNG's ceremonial uniforms are.
Both were great, but I'd have to say GO ARMY!!! I'm former Army but have a respect for all branches. Would love to see your reaction to either or both of Sidecar Motocross and Motorcycle Sidecar Racing. They aren't as huge as they use to be, but still amazing. I have a couple of links I can send if you'd like Love your reactions and your other videos as well. Keep up the great work and stay safe.
Still waiting to see you dive into Top Secret Drum Corps. They may not be military, but are well respected. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Top_Secret_Drum_Corps
The difference here isn't a matter of skill, it's a matter of style. Airforce went more traditional military drum line. No movement, almost statue like posture, and no tricks or flashy moves. The army went with a mor contemporary style. Both were extremely talented. But for pure entertainment, the Army had the edge.
Check out the Classic 2016 battle between West Point vs Navy - and observe the Army cymbalist confrontation with a Navy drummer at 7:20! ua-cam.com/video/v31w6AVVI6Y/v-deo.html

This is West point vs Airforce academy...which are colleges focused on turning students into officers in their respected branch.
While we may hove our little competitions, WE ARE ONE NATION, ONE FORCE, ONE PEOPLE!

Dude the army way outperformed the airforce here.

Just to keep things in perspective here, look close: The Air Force line has about 15 players while the Army has around 40!
jimchape army doesn’t have that many it is just because they are closer together that makes it look like there are more
Lmao they definitely don't have 40. And if they did it would sound way worse
Doesn't matter how many members you have if you play crap music.

as a 5+ year army airborne infantry vet i am biased of course but let's be real here, Army killed it.

@@sydIRISH anything is possible at this point.

I always thought Grambling was the really good, but none of them have anything on the professional drumlines like Swiss Top Secret Drum Corps.
I concur, on the HBCU marching band - front...THE Ohio State University's marching band is good too!!
Have you never seen the OSU Buckeyes marching band? lol
Both are highly skilled. The difference is in the showmanship of the Army compared to the synchronicity of the Air Force.
I'm going for AirForce....my son is in the Airforce stationed in San Antonio, Texas🇺🇸✈✈✈
I grew up in an Air Force family in San Antonio. My father was an officer stationed at the former Kelly AFB for almost 30 years.

Phantom Regiment for me, chief.
I love the bands period. Give the Drum Corps a shot. Either full show or even Blue Devils horn line in the lot one of my Favs but love them all.
Watching the last one is like watching band kids talk at lunch
the look on ur face when the band starts to play and u realize that this is not what u thought this was... “HILARIOUS”.. haha

This is textbook DCI (Air Force) vs. Show Style (Army)
Of the 4 services, Army has the best traditions. The Marines are the coolest force, but Big Army is like the old, wise man - he's been the main branch since the beginning of the country, so he has the deepest sense of tradition.
There are 6 military services.

J. Benjamin Except for the minor detail that it actually is.
