Something I love about drum line that I haven't seen you catch a good vantage point of, but you can still notice if you're looking for it. and everyone who's done ANY drum line will remember how much it's HAMMERED into you... stick height. it's one of things that's so fundamental to a good drum line that it often gets over looked, but it's amazing to watch a shot down the line of a standing line. Love hearing the perspective of a set drummer on marching drums.
Being an Army soldier, I hate to admit it, but the stick work by the Navy in their last bit just took them OTT. In addition to being a soldier, I was also in the Marching Band and occasionally assisted on the drumline. The Army was good, yes, but in the end, I must yield to the Navy Midshipmen. However, the best part of all of it was the collab at the end.
I played quints in marching band back in the day and it was a blast. I remember spending all my free time practicing with them made such a noticeable difference in my chops.
Blue Devils, vanguard, so many to choose from. Navy was good. But I think they had alot of timing issues. Army had a funky cadence. But not quite as flashy as Navy. Good performances none the less. Go USA
You must have been listening to a different video than the one we were watching navy was struggling to keep time the whole video especially the quads, they need some metronomes.
the navy could definitely use better drums. ive seen them. they do have tiny basses 18-24" and theyre in awful shape. my guess, the drums are maybe 18 years old
For the Army/ Navy game the past few years West Point’s (Army’s) band has had a more comfortable and combat focused (ie. The boots and pants) uniform for this day. Navy has stayed with their formal uniforms for the band. However I’d encourage you to watch a video about West Point or even just watch the parade of cadets. Keep in mind these are college kids on their way into the military.
In case you haven't noticed, it's still a uniform appearance. The sharp look of the Navy has it's place, but the look of the Army, other than the style of their tops, is more akin to what would appear on the battlefield.

Other than the Armies 2nd turn which had that nice rhythm, the Navy overall was better

I think they lose just on dress alone, compared to the UK services. Way to casual. Doesn’t encourage discipline.
