Dear Taro, Iave gained so much benefit from your videos I signed up for your webinar and unfortunately there are no times available for a strategy meeting, what do you recommend
I try quite a lot with different exercises to teach my shoulder blades to move. I know that it’s not only difficult for me to bring them together, but I even just feel them badly, I’m poorly aware of them. After the exercise, I was surprised to note that the back in the thoracic region became more even and a different awareness during breathing, while inhaling, the shoulder blades themselves began to fall down, and they themselves moved in relaxation, without effort. It's amazing, wonderful!
Wow just by noticing my breathing while following you, I feel a straighter posture, more aligned, easier breathing and happier. Will be coming back to this again and again and sharing. Taro = Hero!! 🙌
I felt a great difference not only in my body but also my mind and since the two are connected it makes a lot of sense. Thank you Taro, you prove that mindfullness really does help!
Wow right neck pain and lower back pain, been doing daily stretching to no avail. just doing one of your other videos and this one- amazing thanks my body already feels much better. Thankyou
we are culturally trained to view our body as mechanical parts that need fixing, correction from the outside as if fixing a machine, but in reality, all our body parts are connected, body and mind are connected, and they influence each other, move together, and change together. And your body parts are YOU, there's really no fixing of a part. There's only improving YOU as a whole. And, changes happen from the inside. Changes are not done to your body from the outside. That is why it's important for us to learn how to connect with our body, and learn to sense, feel our body, movement from the inside, and learn to improve how we move, use our body in daily activities so we can bring more comfort, ease, confidence into our body. This process can only be done by YOU. That is a fundamental difference between mechanical stretching and strengthening exercises and internal movement practice (where you observe your body and movement from the inside).
Thank you so much for this, Taro. I was feeling very anxious and your video popped up. I followed your instructions and when done, I was calm, centered and felt like I was more upright in my body. The work you do is AMAZING!
Began your guidance in sitting position, observing myself. After exercise; Feel more sturdy and supported in lumbar spine. Breathing more completely, had actually holding breath before to a certain extent. Also automatically lowered ribs into the mat and gently drew in navel in lying position as i began your exercise, because i typically have weakness in that area and go into sway back, which is painful on my back. I would not have been comfortable lying otherwise. I noticed more of this slightly rounded position as I returned to sitting to observe and compare. Takeaway; im slightly holding my breath almost all the time-creating more tension and pulling. Point well made and I thank you.
Taro, thank you for sharing this simple exercise. It changed my posture after this short exercise of doing something that did not seem to relate to posture at all. It's truly amazing and wonderful.
you're welcome:) you may not be aware of direct connection between body and mind, but a simple movement lesson such as this can demonstrate such connection clearly:)
@@TaroIwamoto Will the exercise you introduce help me to change my posture in a permanent way? If so, do I do this exercise say twice a day for X period of time and my posture will improve in a permanent way?
Thank you very much for sharing your work. I just did this exercise and when I got to putting both hands on my body I felt a wave of relaxation right up my spine into my neck. It was wonderful.
definitely felt calmer and quieter in my body, i was sitting on the chair with the back rest all the time, so i didnt observe any significant change in my posture, but i felt lighter for sure :)
Putting my hands on my ribcage made me become aware of how much I was tensing it. No wonder I found it hard to breathe normally. Now I try to relax it when I breathe!
Yes, big difference. Before, even though I was emotionally normal my back was slightly round. After, my back is straight without effort.😮😊. Thank you Taro.
I keep practicing this session almost every day as it is in a short time making a big difference in my posture, emotional feelings and quieten my mind. Thank you so much Taro.😊
Yes, before i was tired that my back was round and i was feeling fateeg. After, my body becomes straiter and i feel lighter. I think if i spend longer time will be much beter. Thank you Taroo.❤
I was sitting. At first I was a little slouched. I got really sleepy. How interesting. When finished I was sitting straighter though it was natural not forced. Thank you Taro. Marilyn
My body felt relaxed and my mind was definitely a calmer sea, but my posture was still stiff. My shoulders were rolled forwards and my back felt stiff as well. Its a great meditation exercise and does help stress but I’m just wondering how I could go a step further and really target that region
Have you watched my previous videos yet? I shared specific movement retraining lesson. I also have many posture videos on my Posture Playlist. I highly suggest you watch my other videos on this topic:)
I am so glad that I came across your UA-cam channel. I took Feldenkrais therapy classes for my posture about 10 years ago. What a difference a few mind body changes make. Thank you 😊
I always known that I am supposed to breath from my diaphragm not chest but could never do it without concentration. During the exercise I was naturally diaphragm breathing and even now afterwards I am diaphragm breathing. I also feel more stretched out Thanks 👍😀
Nice! Breathing happens spontaneously and is influenced by many factors (movements, levels of physical activities, stress, etc), and it is regulated by the nervous system. You can regulate your nervous system, which will regulate your breathing:)
Taro thx for past video on awareness of pelvic muscles and diaphragm and breath. It helped long time PFD and gen body hypervigilance. Before belly breathing was natural after yrs of practice. Not bad or wrong. Both are still a work in progress. Edit: I was calmer and quieter after breath exercise.
My pleasure:) Letting go of expectations, beliefs, and existing knowlege is easier said than done, but connecting with self, sensing own body in the moment can bring the nervous system to a more quiet system from which learning can take place more more efficiently:)
Wow, very interesting. Surprised i was diaphragm breathing and then slowly naturally shifted to chest breathing during that part of the exercise, etc. Am sitting up straighter and very relaxed, will practice this before bedtime to see if it helps me get better sleep. Thank you Taro! Am thinking there is some similar practice that would work on the pain body?
this simple lesson can definitely down regulate sympathetic nervous system, up regulate parasympathetic nervous sytem (= calm and relaxed and grounded), and can help you sleep better at night. Body-brain-mind are all connected. Pain is a function of our body system, and there's no difference in improving posture, movement, and pain. Refining quality of movement, breathing, posture will reorganize the brain/nervous system-body all together, and this process will change behaviors of the body including pain.
Yes this movement lesson can help with that. More important thing to know is that correcting any conditions including neck hump requires one to understand their habitual movement patterns in their daily activities, lifestyle and how they are related, then one will begin to understand what it really means to correct their conditions, that is to improve their movement patterns and improve their functions.
Ifeel lighter, my shoulders less rounded and calmer. I watched this on the back of watching some POV ukraine war vids -not exactly helpful in hindsight for my nervous system XD I have also become aware that my neck is now aching from tension iv been holding last few weeks. I always breathe through my belly, i didnt notice my chest rise at all
@@djVania08 taking actions is a first step, and practicing consistently is a next step. To make that happen, make it as simple and easy as possible, so even 5 minutes practice daily in the morning and evening would be wonderful!
@@TaroIwamoto Why I ask is that I do practice yoga and some other things. I am quite disciplined but I wanna add some feldenkrais without overwhelming myself and the nervous system. That's why I ask. So the question goes more of a direction 'how to include this to other practices'
Have been experiencing severe lower back pain for 6 months and nothing is helping unfortunately, even small gentle movements of the pelvis are painful. No evidence of structural issues, no major issues apart from the back pain, quite debilitating
@@TaroIwamoto Taro the lesson was pleasant, but there doesn't seem to be anything to ease the pain when I move. Lying stationary is relatively painless but moving slightly the wrong way is excruciating.

Body and mind are certainly connected, aren't they? There's no improvements of our body alone, or mind alone. We can only improve the whole!
It's like a reset, I'm standing up straight with no effort and feeling so relaxed. This is remarkable thank you.
resetting the nervous system = resetting the body as they are connected :)
