I would say the bug is 73 or later judging by the half moon vents and the elephant foot rear lights.
As stated, the rear window size changed multiple times, the largest being 72 onwards IIRC.
You can check by measuring the height (later windows are about 1 inch taller).
That rusty hole is an ominous sign as it's caused by the "foam of death", so I would cut the whole window area out first to evaluate the inside.
One option is to transplant the whole window section including the lower vents as one piece.

There you go CT. Gettin’ er done. I panicked when I saw the description. I thought you were buying another project. I couldn’t wait to see the comments section but you proved them wrong. It was a level headed move although not sure if that year will fit your bug if not I guess you got another car you can add to the collection. You should make an episode where you go over all the cars you have collected since you bought Rusty and tell us the plans for each one. Like an inventory roll call😂

CT, I was going through all my vw parts that I still have left in the barn and I have stacks of glass. I believe I have side windows and the little A windows and stuff. I even have an air conditioner for a bug that I was going to mount into a Karmann Ghia that I restored. My ex girlfriend totaled it though.. If there is a way we can stay in touch we can figure out what you need. I have not done anything with my 914 yet. It is on my dad's trailer and he really wants his trailer back. I still want to restore it but I have a few projects in the queue already.I am starting to build a manual ,filling machine to fit the space I have left in the barn tomorrow and then convert it to cnc. Le the know ho9w we can get in touch and I can hook you up with the glass you need at least. I am coming back down to Florida soon to live so maybe we could figure out something. Either way I have a lot of parts you will need I believe. I have not gone through it all yet. I had an entire barn full of parts but my dad scrapped them about 15 years ago. I could cry now. I'll talk to you soon.

Looks like those corners are slightly different but I think you can make it work. just put the rubber on the glass and fit them once you spot weld them maybe take the window and put it in the newer body and check the corners before you remove them to make sure it will work. The top edge just rrim it back a little then weld in a small piece of flat metal. it will work will be hard to grind in the corner but you can do it.

Just saying and I know you have enough on you plate right now, but that would look good being towed home on the back dragon with you logo on the door. I meant in a fun way. Hello mate. It's so great to see you cracking on with the '65. I'm sure you know by now this bug is a '73 or thereabouts. As such it has a bigger back window than your '65, and you might find it won't fit, in the same way that the one from Mike Fn didn't.
Also, I just fitted discs to the front of my '62, so I know that they add around an inch to each side of the track. To avoid the front wheels sticking out an inch at each side I had to get a 2 inch narrowed front beam. I used the kit from CB Performance but I'm pretty sure they all make the wheels stick out to some degree. You've worked so hard on the stock brakes and beam, I'd be tempted to stay stock, if it were me. Can you really bare to take off that beam you worked so hard on, and not even use it?
Whatever you do - Good luck man, keep at it. We're getting there!

  • @chrisjelonek1324

Like mentioned by others this is a '73 + bug and the rear window is different. I did however see only one 60's bug at the car grave yard which may have worked. It was the one without the rear air vent BTW. Keep up the good work though. Love your determination and persistence.

@CT Unfortunately yes as a whole replacement cut. However you may be able to do small cut patch peices from it but that's not really what you need. a whole replacement is what you are chasing.
Over here in South America they do brand new replacement oval and Split window cuts from 1mm cold rolled steel. Could be an option if nothing else pops up as replacement. Not sure how to attach photos as I would like to show you what I mean.

In that trunk there’s a couple of nice things like alternator stand, intake manifold, valve covers etc. Those parts you were asking about are bumper brackets.
