I'm not very good with subdiving myself so personally if he were tp conduct like that I would've been lost. But then again judging base on the nature of the song I can see why he conducted like that
Haha i Was exactly about to write the same, i must admit this looks more like What a conductor should do than any other conductor ive seen, but then again i have no idea or knowledge on how they should do it. He Looked really focused on specific parts of the orcestra instead just looking generally and waving hes hands at random as it looks like with other conductors
Truetly, it isn't so hard, it's just learn about flexibilty and fluency on the wrist and play the notes in tune. (sorry if my english is bad, but I speak spanish ;))
Edvard Grieg wrote 'In The Hall of the Mountain King' as a satire of terrible music and said he could barely stand to hear it. It is now one of his most played and best remembered pieces. (Info from QI)
It would be so badboy to conduct an orchestra for this piece of music. I'd probably pull my shirt over my head and knee slide across the stage once it finished

I heard a lot of versions of this classical piece, and finally the conductor seems to understand how important it is to start out at a slow tempo, not just soft in volume, to create the necessary anticipation. Well done sir, I applaud you!
I developed my love for classical music as a kid, by watching old "Bugs Bunny/Road Runner" cartoons on Saturday mornings. This song was played in one of those cartoons. Someone was chasing Bugs Bunny and this song was played during the chase.

This was amazing. Seeing the people’s reactions is so good. Especially the kids, cause you can tell it’s their first time hearing it 😂 I’m into hardcore hardstyle music and this seems to be the classical equivalent
I envy you guys! You are so privileged to be able to listen to such a fabulous orchestra, gorgeously conducted by a real Maestro, Igor Manasherov. Not to mention the genius of Grieg composition.
The clips from this concert are amazing. Pity the camera didn't show us the rest of the orchestra, but I wish I attended this concert. Bravo to Manasherov!
It is a great piece of music that I love to listen to. If I had to choose a favourite classical piece, it would have to be this. It settles me and it has a good vibe to it
My favorite part about this song: it always sounds like there’s a choir somewhere in the end singing, but there’s not, I’m not sure if that’s the violins or some other instrument but it amazes me
It does sound like there are high-pitched little wails or screams when the full orchestra comes in. It's some combination of the winds, the flutes and piccolo or something. But, yeah, it absolutely sounds like eerie, wordless voices. By the way, have you heard the choral version of this piece? Essa peça de Grieg assemelha-se bastante ao crescente Bolero de Ravel. Começa silencioso, vai envolvendo outros instrumentos e termina num surto de notas discordantes e chamativas! Muito interessante!

First time I've ever seen a conductor that I actually got what he was doing. I freely admit to being a layman. This is one of my favorites
I am a student of orchestra conducting and he does things totally against what I've been trained to do. Yet it works and looks very entertaining! :)
I play, and honestly the way he’s conducting looks difficult to understand and would probably mess me up
