Anyone who says Neil Peart is not the greatest rock drum of all time is well wrong
News just in: Man listens to music, says it's pretty cool
news just in: a bored youtube user writes nonchalant comment, feels alive for a while
@@gc8972b news Just in: what he say is still relevant
@@Marifet124, not really, musican's/ artist get influenced from array of styles, this is part of a segment and Geddy really liked TOOL, which is similar to his style. Geddy is going to probably respect certain types of music over another, don't see him getting into Taylor Swift...
In defense of how mundane this video might be, I'm sure all the members of Tool would be incredibly honored to have Geddy Lee say their music is awesome.
Oh yeah, I'm not knocking Geddy here, I just wish this video had a bit more substance to it. Would have been more interesting to hear some more in-depth impressions rather than what we got, which is literally Geddy listening to about 10 seconds of Schism and saying "Yeah, that's pretty good".
0:41 POINT THE FINGER
LOL
Perfect Timing
Nice catch
*Keanu Reeves*: Whoa
Lol
Omg
"Geddy Lee Reacts" is the reaction channel that UA-cam REALLY needs...
Can you imagine the possibilities?! I’d love to see him do videos on the various prog-metal bands that have been popping up in the last 10 years or so. Bands like Periphery, TesseracT, Contortionist, Skyharbor, Time the Valuator, and many others!
@@pyrorock8143 Geddy Lee reacting to Animals as Leaders would be gold.
Ari August Segebarth-Bjerga Dude, fuck yes!
Geddy Lee Reacts to.......
Meshuggah!
YES!!!
This is like when your grandpa reviews your dad’s work
Oh no.... I'm not ready to do an "I'm old" comment..! .... slipping.......
Hey! The guys in Tool are my age!
Oh...
I'm upset at how true this is lol
How about big brother..
Geddy's only like 8yrs older than the eldest Tool member!
lol
Damn, imagine Geddy Lee calling your music his jam
It means you've made it as a musician haha
This is like when God reacts to his angels.
"I don't remember who it is but I've heard it before" lol
Haha get a grip bro
Ducking beautiful ❤
Tool and Rush have a lot in common, more than most people probably realize
@@JB-lp9xr Debatable, but you make a good point...As a musician since Rush's first album, and a prog/fusion/classical/music FREAK every band is unique. There are limits to all instruments and human capability. When you push those things to the edge you get Rush, Tool, Yes, Genesis, Crimso, Sabbath, on and on...But not ONE of those bands sounds ANYTHING like the other ... The members of Rush were influenced by far more musicians than Zeppelin...
I'm pretty sure it was Yes and King Crimson before Rush but anyways...if we have to get into it there was always somebody messing with some odd time signatures or strange chord progressions.
Rush is just the most popular example. Doesn't mean they did it first. Hats off to them though, amazing band. R.I.P Neil Peart
@@JDubzDrumz Ah, my bad. That makes sense
They should. Danny Carey and Neil Peart drummed together with Stewart Copeland
They don't know the pieces fit and they don't know that if you choose to not to decide you have still made a choice
Listening to band that your band directly influenced.....and liking it. Priceless.
Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. I think most great musicians would be flattered to hear bands that were inspired by them.
"Comeas you Are" Nirvana "Eighties" Killimg Joke
this dude has a good taste of music. i believe someday he'll become a great musician.
@breme yea man considering their age they must go. . .oh no nvm abort, it's getting dark pretty quickly sorry.
Yeah you may be right about that. I guess we’ll just have to wait and see
My fave part is when he hears it's Tool and remembers how good they are. "Oh, well, there you go." Awesome stuff. Geddy Lee always did know good music.
Exactly. When you're that age and also as experienced and embedded in the world of music as he is, I'm sure it's easy to get a little lost and keep up with all the music out there being played by everyone. But he definitely seems familiar with their skill and their reputation.
"You just have to give me an odd time signature and I'm all in" is my new life motto
"This is one I want to turn up." Geddy speaks for us all.
geddy lee is such a wholesome guy.
* listens to lateralus *
"Hey is that test for echo?"
Lol. Exactly the first thing I thought of!
I thought I was the only one
YYZ 🤔
I had a friend in college whom I showed test for echo to and she showed me lateralus after.
Excuse me, what? How are those in any way similar?
rush and tool are my favourite bands so my life is complete now
My favorite bass player from my favorite band. Rush!!!!!
This is the full circle ⭕️ thing that couldn’t have happened without UA-cam.
I'm sure Geddy could and would love to play this bass riff, it's right up his alley (style).
Finding this video in my recommendations made my whole week.
Cheers!
Geddy please jam with Danny and make a album thanks
Yes! I'd rather have that
Screw the new Tool album, this is what we really need.
@Omniscient Biscuit with copeland and he's not even on drums.
All I need to hear is a bass jam between geddy and justin
@Omniscient Biscuit Now that Neil has retired, Danny would be an ideal replacement, if Lee & Lifeson were to continue on without Peart. Although, Tool could be releasing an album any year now, it's only been 13 years since their last album.
Top compliment of ALL TIME. Holy cow.
The Man Himself! True musical genius!
Strange.. to be so big and famous , imo is one of the best , and to be so gentle and simple. i love this man
Ged and Alex need to do a collab with the guys from Tool.
Yes. They do.
Geddy, Alex and Danny Carey would be mind-blowing
Kinda surprised he didn't know who it was.
No kidding eh?
You gotta think how much music this guy actually listens too
Enough to know who Tool are?
pretty sure Peart and Carey knew each other...
Geddy doesn't strike me as a metal fan
Or Geddy Lee and Brann Dailor jamming together. I want to see Brann Dailor cover Tool songs. Danny Carey and Brann Dailor are badass drummers!
My two favorite artists crammed into one very short awrsome video about music discovery and appreciation .... Rush, Tool ..... please do the world a favor, and make an album together!!! make this planet alittle bit more bearable to live In, not that what I am asking will ever in all eternity ever happen, but just know that for alot of us out there we need both of you to know that. Keep on inspiring people the way you both do!
Jeremiah Robinson You do realize that you are asking Tool to make an album? You do realize that MJK would have laughed his ass if he saw that comment and hit you with that "doubt" meme?
geddy has said he and alex will continue to make music. so you never know who they'll team up with on drums or anything else.
Nah, I'd rather see April wine collaborate with Helix
@@wolfsilver6304 oh yeah huh? I forgot this is tool we're discussing lmao good point man

Geddy Lee: living legend!
I remember watching an interview with Scorpions who were on tour in the early 2000's and they had been listening to the then brand new Lateralus and they were digging it, they all talked about how they passed the album to one another and all enjoyed it. I love it when other artists appreciate each other like that.
Dave Mustaine from Megadeth is also quite fond of Tool
Watcing Geddy jam to other music is wholesome af
love it ! I always say the same thing..."give me an odd time signature and I'm all in"
Geddy is the man!
Geddys bass playing is Legendary 🔥
I wish this was two hours long. I was enjoying it
Would like to see Geddy's bass cover to Jambi....
@@BittersweetDuality Yes The Pot please!!
The bass lines in The Pot are the jammiest of jams
I like The Pot, but Jambi is better
Ultimate jam. Of course it is. Geddy knows he loves it.
RIP Neil.
I love everything about this.
and that's why I love you Geddy. I'm the girl in the front row at Bayfest, Sarnia, Ontario, screaming get it Geddy! and you looked at me a million times like, will you please quit yelling that out! Best musical experience in my entire life. RUSH is a gift.

Geddy the best talent and humble man
You sir, are a legend.
Yup. A great musician will recognize a great musician. That's just a nature of it.
This is my Jam!!🤟😁🤟
I’m getting goosebumps just listening to it muffled on Geddy’s headphones.
👍 Geddy approves of Tools “Schism.”
Greatness meets greatness
Tool used to play the intro to "Passage to Bangkok" before their song "Cold & Ugly" live
The way he sits straight up as he first gets into the groove, he's like: This deserves respect and attention. Ultimate jam? This jam!
Geddy Lee approving Tool is time stand still.
The master listening to the masters. That's some shit. Love this.
i love his reactions when she says its tool. no surprise at all.
Alex has said in the past he listens to tool so im sure geddy has heard a bunch of them.
"Just gotta give me an odd time signature and I'm all in"
I have been waiting for him to say that 😄
Wow this is so awesome I must immediately take off my headphones after intro. Love it.
Good to see you Geddy! You inspired me to play the Bass. Stay safe.😀
more of this please
Amazing!
Didn’t see him jamming, saw him wear headphones tho
We don't all "jam" the same way...
Pete Oliva some of “us” don’t jam at all
2112358...
By chance is this a Fibonacci number? As in reference to both Tool's Lateralus and Rush's 2112?

Geddy gets it.
*ultimate jam*
*Best jam*
I'd farking die if Geddy Lee or any member of Rush dug a jam of mine.
Oh no. He's adorable

Tee shirt, flannel and denim...
the "Wainfleet Look"...
Feeder Road ...

I love Getty, he's such a Tool.
Nice enthusiasm, geddy
Holy $#!+ I thought I was gonna see Geddy play Schism!

*It’s good but I don’t know who it is*
Geddy Lee Calmly Ponders Tool's "Schism".
Dude is an icon.
Got a total proggasm watching this
What a champ , I'd love to see him cover it though!

Okay, this is epic
Geddy Approves
'Give me an odd time signature and im all in'
hmm, maybe this guy should check out some Rush, I think he would like them.
I don't know why this is in my recs but I don't regret watching
The first time I ever heard this tune, my mind conjured an image of a late 70's Geddy playing that bass part with the Rickenbacker double neck bass. Tool are awesome, but Rush were the KINGS.
Local Man listens to Tool, likes Tool. Clearly this young up and comer will have a great future int he music industry
Peace
Well yea of course geddy digs tool, one of the best front men and bassist ever,I'm going to miss rush so much with the passing if Neil, but they will live in forever in the anailys of time
One Canadian band reacts to another Canadian band really cool
Badass musicians always talk over jams and never finish listening....
Gotta think, musicians hear music day in day out. Day after day, hour after hour, you get good at and used to telling what is good just in a few seconds.
It's a shit song. Cant blame him
@@johnvincent1823 that "shit song" has one of the most recognizable, influential basslines in music history... keep on stuffing your fat face with fritos and french dressing at home while the talented ones judge the music.
@@stoneshitcrayz4867 All their songs sound the same and are stolen from king crimson's larks tongues in aspic pt 2
John vincent Well, Geddy loved it. He called the song an “ultimate jam” and requested it be turned up.
It's official, Geddy Lee, the greatest Bassist of all time, loves Tool!
Rush and Tool collaboration 2020 confirmed let’s fucking gooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
How could he not instantly recognize Maynard's voice?
Geddy Lee
Is alright wit me.
Love Geddy. Anyone else shocked he didn't recognize Tool? They've been around almost 30 years... he never heard that song before? They don't have radio in Canada? Ha.
He said he did recognize the song, but couldn't remember who it is.
Geddy could play schism drum/guitar/bass parts at the same time. And also sing.
What...?
@@ADT2695 Sorry for my English.
Geddy could play drum/guitar/bass parts of Schism. And sing at the same time.
Well, after that, I’ve learned it had nothing to do with your semantics and grasp on the English, seeing as there were no corrections made. I knew that, initially - it was your romanticization of Geddy Lee. That was what I was implying.
He likes it so much, he can't listen to the whole thing.
That would be most of the general public.
He likes it but he prefer dookie from GreenDay
He was reacting to other songs, this was only a clip to a full video.
@@grungyasscinema His comment was in reference to Geddy taking off his head set before the song was even over,
Dan Maler it’s possible that they just let it play for us and it actually cut off for him. There’s no reason for them to sync the audio we hear and the audio Geddy hears. Which I hope is the case because that seemed un characteristically rude for Geddy
Lerxst is a bit of a tool fan. I remember reading an interview where he mentions a time taking E with his wife and listening to Tool.
Alex Lifeson once said that he and his wife took ecstasy and drank orange juice with vodka (or was it mimosas?) and listened to Tool really loudly.
So he's clearly a fan.
At least I think he said it was Tool lol.
I think all of rush would love that Sony
Ged tell TOOL get that album out!! MAYBE theyll listen!!!
