    These guys are tech developers not car developers. The cars are just tech demonstrators. It's amazing how this guy envisions car manufacturing with available high tech.

      Listening and understanding are two different things. But yeah in this video Jay seemed a little bit off, what I hate the most is answering the same question addressing the same things over and over again, it's a waste of time and effort.

      @CorkKNIFE 6 років тому +65

      You did not listen. For example, on the carbon fiber tubing. What Jay is asking is really "Carbon fiber crash protection, really?" And the CEO points to he crumple zone down low. Jay knows that is not where you will get hit by the Ford Explorer on a broadside crash, he gave it one more shot, but the CEO didn't get it so he moved on.

      LordKellthe1st Idk I think he’s a great interviewer. Especially in this case where he probably doesn’t know what the guy is talking about. Plus jay knows when to let the guy talk and when he needs to rephrase things to keep the video interesting instead of a stream of facts. At least, that’s what I get out of it.

We cannot po poo on companies (American) that are trying to innovate. Your next telephone will be 3 D printed. So chill.

      I agree. Mr. Leno said it himself in one of his segments: "We live in an age where people like to tear things down..." Mr. Czinger is clearly a visionary with far more going on in his mind than can be easily distilled into a few minutes of conversation. He's talking about a digital revolution in automotive manufacture where algorithms play an active part in the design process. This is mind blowing stuff.

    I do have to have a laugh at some of the comments to this video complaining about door flapping or other minor things.. They only stated 239048329 times that it's a one-off design/proof of concept prototype. it's not even a prototype for production, but just a design prototype.So of course there will be issues with it as it's not a final product made for sale to consumers.

    This is a really good segment. You are right, this is the future of mass produced automobiles. They are beautiful, light, environmentally friendly, and I bet they can be easily outfitted with driverless technology which would dramatically reduce accidents and fatalities. This would be a perfect car for a daily commute. I used to commute 36 miles a day, hauling around 5,000 pounds of steel. Just a couple of things, it appears to be uncomfortable and tight, although you said you were OK, but it still looks tight. It seems to ride choppy, but that can be fixed with variable suspension tuning, and finally you forgot to ask about gas mileage. My guess is mid 20s in town and 35+ on the highway? This technology is the future, no doubt. Another excellent and informative segment, thanks Jay.

The next technological automotive leap is organic based structural design. These designs increase production efficiency while providing lighter and stronger platforms. This technology will be used from aerospace to military to consumer grade products. Michelin just produced a prototype tire that incorporates the same structural design ideas where it mimics coral.
