I feel like the laughter was a result of them not knowing just how profoundly epic this movie is and was going to be. Their awkward laughter shows us that they didn't quite yet grasp the weight of what they just saw. Nowadays, laughter? No. Maybe cheers, hell, maybe even TEARS. But above all a a silent and profound admiration for just how beautiful this moment is.

Both of my parents saw it in theaters, my mother in particular used to watch this one all the time with her best friend in the 80s on VHS (they recorded it and Lucas from HBO, we actually found that tape recently), I experienced it on the official VHS when I was a kid and over the years I’ve seen this one so many times that I remember moving to the whole trilogy on the original DVDs, then the 25th Anniversary Blu-Rays my grandfather bought me when they came out, and most recently the 4K release. I know it word for word, the sequels are also great, and I’ll still be watching the trilogy till I leave this Earth! One can't help but feel the suspense when Marty notices that he's vanishing from the photo, and the creepiness gets worse when he's seeing his hand fade out, with that rapid heartbeat going on in the music score. That mutual smile he and George share together afterwards is touching. George only knows Marty as a good friend, not knowing what he's done, but Marty understands perfectly; his future family existence is secured. All in all, a beautiful scene from one of the greatest sci-fi films of the 80s.

My only minor complaint about this scene is where Marty uses what he thought might be his last breath to call for “George” to kiss his mom. It would seem more likely that if he really thought this might be it, he’d call out for “Dad” to kiss his mom. Still gives me chills nonetheless.

I was just smiling (I was so nervous!!) and she asked me again the same question and I said to her " well I'm speechless, but let's see if you understand this...(and I kissed her ...) now we are married and we have 3 beautiful kids of 16,15 and 14 years old... George grew some balls inadvertly changing his life but saving Marty's aswell while not even knowing the power of his actions! He didn't do it for any reason other than pure love and love is that one thing, that one emotion that can change anything! That wave for me is a sign of a man who is simply in love and thanking a guy who helped push him in that direction! It works on so many lvls it is insane how a story so simple can be executed in such an emotionally deep detailed thoughtful way! Bravo🧡

This version of the song is always gonna be the best because it's the first version I heard I guess and the tremendous feeling and emotion from the movie mixed made it a burnable memory in my brain of classic music

From the moment before the kiss to the wave- hits me the same way today as it did whenever I first saw this as a kid. I may have seen this movie more than any other.

Marty hitting the strings as he recuperates is one of the best transition edits in cinema history 🎸

I just love the little touches, like the way the photo lights back up, IN ORDER, to the beats of the music. FLAWLESS.

I was born in 1999, but my parents were teens during the 80s, and I've been watching this movie for my whole life. I remember watching it on tube TVs and projectors during the early 2000s. Easily one of if not my favorite movie of all time! I'm 19 now and I still love it and plan on showing it to my future children one day! I hope the next generation is being shown this film still

I was, literally, working day and night in the summer of 1985. Friend talked about seeing this movie and how great it was. By the time my situation worked out, it was too late to see on big screen. Would've loved to have seen it with crowd for scenes just like this.

A scene I still cry a bit watch. Love how they get together again. It wasn't automatic after Biff. George HAD to prove his love 2x and loved that he thanked his SON (unknown to him) for bringing them together ❤️.

Oddly enough, the composer for the Back to the Future movies, Alan Silvestri is the same man who composed the Avengers movies (except AoU)

@OOFER GANG Alan Silvestri has usually done music for movies directed by Robert Zemeckis (but Joss Whedon directed The Avengers).
