I moved up to Alaska about a year ago. One night I was driving up north, with this song playing. Suddenly I saw the Northern Lights bright as hell.. I stopped the car, turned up the radio all the way, turned off the lights and layed on the hood of my car.. The feeling that gave me, the way this song enhanced that moment was something I have never felt before. It was like I was in a different world... It truly was amazing.

Aloe Blacc does. Anthony Hamilton does. Krizz Kaliko does. The song Human by Rittz is a great goose bumps song. Can't list 'em all, but there are other artists out there with similar abilities. You just have to look for 'em.
This song was way ahead of its time. The video was way ahead of its time. This version of The Weeknd will most likely never return. But I’m glad I got to experience every bit of this era to the fullest extent. In a way it’s bitter sweet. xo
As much as I love Trilogy, I don't think he should ever go back to his Trilogy mindset in reality. He was really fucked up when he made these tracks, and I would never wish someone to go back to a darker part in their lives to make 'better sounding music'.
I HAVE IN THE PAST AS WELL, WHEN THE TRILOGY ALBUM CAME OUT YRS AGO I WAS SO SAD, & DEPRESSED BUT HIS MUSIC HELPED ME SO MUCH, HE'LL NEVER UNDERSTAND THE PAIN HE GOT ME THRU😔
When i went through a dark time i listened to it, then i just didnt listen to it for about a year. Today someone reminded me of the song, and i ealised i wasted my energy and tears for a douchbag
This song could make even a grown man cry. Especially with the visuals. The man in the beginning of the video is King Selassie, who ran Ethiopa until a military coup killed him and his cabinet, proceeding to instill Marxism in his absence during that period in Ethiopia (True Story). According to pics around the 1:40 mark, it seems in this story that Abel is related to King Selassie, who was a great man wronged by the people he trusted. If we assume Selassie is Abel's father in the video, than Abel and his father's coffin then get abducted by a ruler (Queen) in space (assuming it is due to his bloodline). The woman he is with (his wife), cheats on him, as shown by (presumably) some council member (Military coup reference). But this time, Abel exacts revenge when he slays (has sex with) the women (slaves) with his bodyguards (friends) to get back at the Queen (now wife). She than gets envious and angry despite her own cheating. She than splits the world in two (ending their relationship), and out of spite sends 2 other women (friends) to do more damage (Second attempt at a coup). The two women arrive and take out his bodyguards before they suck the heart from Abel so they can deliver it back to the Queen so that she can destroy it. It's at this point we see that Abel's heart is too pure, just like his father King Selassie (who was a man of peace). Abel succeeded where his father had been wronged (by avoiding the coup that ruined everything). That is why he turns into his father at the end, because not only did Abel persevere, but he also did so in the name of King Selassie as well. In both scenarios, Abel and his father (in the story) end up standing over the people who wronged them; as they were both unbreakable and unshaken. Good people always get the last laugh, though it may be hard.
Beautiful. I just went through a tough break up and this shot honestly just reminded me not to let my heart turn cold just because a person broke. Hold onto the good within you
I wish if there were private concerts just for the fans who truly appreciate his old music where he sings for us all the sad/dark songs and we all just sit quietly listening to the most beautiful voice we've ever heard. Here's a wish list: The knowing The party & after the party The birds 2 The zone High for this Professional Coming down Echoes of silence Rolling Stone Wicked games Gone in vein Same old song Birthday suit (i dnt think he would) Valerie Nomads The list goes on but these r my TOP TOP TOP TOP favorites now before u attack me 1- English is not my first language 2- I didn't mention new or old fans I meant all the fans WHO APPRECIATE the old songs of his. I have 2 friends who just started listening to him this year and the deeper they dig into old songs the more the fall in love. Add your favs
Same Old Song, In Vein (Even Tho He Was Just Featured On That), Valerie, Rolling Stone, (Another Feature) But Remember You, Crew Love, Dirty Diana Cover, Echoes Of Silence, Next & So Much More... I Listen To All Types Of Music & It's Weird Cuz Since I'm Black & Hood Everyone Thinks I Only Listen To Rap 😂💯
This comment is true and I wish that would happen but there still was a okay fan base for people who truly want to go to concerts for the music not to be there because you barley know Abel's music but I like this idea :)
I remember years ago when I first heard this song I was actually asleep and i left my phone on with music playing but woke up too this and I felt like I was in a dream I can’t explain it or what I’m trying to say but this by far is the most beautiful heartbreaking song I have ever heard. Not to mention the video is just genius this man had to feel true pain to make this. Here it is 2020 and I’m still here. I love to just put my headphones on and just get lost in this song.
@@ccgeibs4786 не согласна. Каждый период его творчества разный, интересный, глубокий - идеальный потому что прожит искренне! Главное, что Эйбел не изменяет себе. И это есть во всех его песнях.
@@ccgeibs4786 Trilogy is a compilation of the first 3 mixtapes, (9 songs each; House of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence) remastered into a 3-disk set. They took samples and different things out of tge original music. You need to listen to each of the original mixtapes and hear the depth that was taken out. Those are "original" Weeknd.
This song hits me deeper than anything else , takes me back to 2011 , if only I knew how drastically different my life would be now , back then,I’d cherish every second .
As an Ethiopian am so proud of this man Able Tesfaye he has a talent that’s so unique and not many people posses. His mindset to make great music is something truly rare in this day and age. 🖤🇪🇹🖤
I've come to realize that people who are immature don't like and/or can't connect to this very talented man's songs. I applaud those of you who are mature and can relate to this amazing artist. Best artist of the modern day. Go Abel.
i don't think so, i could never think of myself as 'mature' because then i would get ideas about feeling old or boring. i listen to this when i want to connect with music on a deep personal level, or to relax, i listen to other types of music for different vibes, i don't think being mature or immature has much to do with it at all really, its merely an appreciation of a chosen artist that brought people here. shake away your judgements and become at peace with yourself instead of judging others
Once you hear the 'Trilogy', you can never go back... 'Beauty Behind the Madness' is the surface depth of Abel's abilities. And I thought 'Beauty Behind the Madness' was a good album. His older works make that stark in comparison.
+Varton Sarkissian I really, REALLY don't like BBTM because to me it sounds like he's trying to be something he's not. Like he sounds really fake for most of the tracks for me. Of course, Often, The Hills, and Can't Feel My Face are all quite good but they don't mean as much to me like almost every song from Trilogy and Kiss Land does. But I understand why other people like it. I just don't like to hear The Weeknd making happy-ish music. Fuck that he needs to constantly be depressed!
Idk, I like the transition from depressed to somewhat happy. Plus, I'm a huge Prince fan, so I'm down to hear him use those pop and rock inspirations. I will say this though, BBTM didn't really have a cohesive style or theme. Either way, I thought it popped. To each their own I guess
in my opinion...and this is coming from a person who has been listening to the Weeknd for a while...(since 2011) I believe that bbtm reflected the very best of Abel's abilities. He was coming out of his shell. I believe it told just as much of a story as trilogy and kiss land had. I don't think it is a "sell out album" (best way I can explain) , but just another part of him that he expressed through it Not even so much a different part. Everyone and every artist has layers. His vocals still were gold and his beats magic and it still was his sound.
I think that the weeknd is a fucking genius. he made this video. he formed these lyrics. In the hope that we will discuss it's meaning. he didn't want it to be blatant. he didn't want it to be simple. because that's not what life is. life is not simple. Life is not always obvious. With people taking that into consideration. I hope that the music industry changes. I hope it moves in the direction of people trying to think about what they're listening too. Music can make people smarter. Think faster, act quicker, feel euphoria, overcome adversity. But with the current mainstream music. it only degrades woman, makes people unintelligent and think less. Props to the weeknd. you've got my ear.
Been listening to The Weekend since 2011. I miss when he was not mainstream. Me and my ex loved his underground stuff. He was unknown he was our secret, the tunes meant so much no one would know what we listened to. In the car cruising at night looking at the stars with the weekend playing we used to say he is so underrated. We were and are still the early number fans.
Bro you can easily recognize him with this video, I didn’t know what he looked like when I first heard earned it in the radio, that was the first track I heard from him, I’m jealous for the people who know him since the noise Ep
Joseph Sir no one knew him since The Noise EP and people who say that are lying, The Noise was leaked after HOB dropped by salty producers lol. HOB tracks were the first appearance of him online
I'm hopelessly in love with this era of The weeknd's music. It brings back so many memories. An echo of another place, another time. I wish I could go back.
The Weeknd is a great artist who happens to be habesha (Ethiopian) just like me. And I think it's wonderful that he remembers where he is from and that he is demolishing all these stereotypes about not only Ethiopians, but Africans in general. He's also doing something that no one has seen before and that's what makes him so great. Keep on doing what you're doing man.
Hits even deeper when you realize they are using the betrayal in the song as metaphor for Emperor Selassie being betrayed and killed by his own people during the communist revolution.
I know what you did I know So I'ma let you taste her I ain't washing my sins I ain't washing my sins Now we're lying about the nights Hiding it all behind the smiles Take a look at what you did You probably thought that you'd break my heart You probably thought that you'd make me cry But baby it's okay I swear it's okay 'Cause I know everything I know everything I know everything I know everything Now these tops don't twist like they did before Tried to keep you out And you are done But baby it don't hurt Oh, like you thought it would The more of you the merrier Now we're lying about the nights Hiding it all behind the smiles Take a look at what you did, hey You probably thought that you'd break my heart You probably thought that you'd make me cry Baby it's okay It's okay I know everything I know everything I know everything I know everything Because no one can fucking post this
See for the last 7 years I’ve always thought he said “These tongues don’t twist like they did before, It’s hard to keep me up, And you are dry” Im still gonna sing it that way 😂
Arise Barbie Now these tongues don't twist like they did before It's hard to keep me up And you are dry But baby it don't hurt Oh, like you thought it would The more of you the merrier, oh, oh, oh, ooh These are the lyrics, from genius, lol so you were right! Lol he got me thinking I was singing them wrong as well
This is art, it¨s the perfect definition of what i call it, and no one it¨s going to change my mind, the cinematography, of this is just, beauty... i will miss her...
+Samantha Marie why are you like that? He said his favorite, not the best of all time. And I completely agree with Slump Man. The Trilogy is constantly battling 808s and Heartbreak for my favorite album.
He is royalty my friend. Just gotta follow the rabbit hole. They migrated from Ethiopia soon after the dethroning of the emperor. Strange as it seems, he told us himself at the beginning of the track. "bring me the dead emperor" and he pops by the cross ,next to the arc of the covenant,(which i believe is a sort of tomb or chamber) up as if he is either a descendant or a reincarnation. Ethiopians are the real hebrew peoples. Not these melaninless phonies we call isrealites now a days.
This is the most meaningful song he's made in my opinion. I lived every syllable, word, and verse of this song. She lied. So I lied. She cheated. So I cheated. She thought I didn't know, but when daily routines and behaviors change, that's the tell-tale sign. She had his child. That brought tears to my eyes. So yeah, I hurt, even though I put up the semblance of joy and happiness. Best song on this album, out of the entire trilogy for me.
I knew there were others who thought the same. The Knowing will forever be my favorite track by him. The fact that he made an entire music video for it means a lot ! XO
The first time I heard this song my heart dropped, and I fell in love with it. Its a story of a young man whose heart was broken, and was hidden from him until it came to light. The video alone is so captivating. And to top it all off, Abel reminds me so much of my oldest son, they could be brothers...So yes, everytime I hear this song, my mind body and soul goes to the thought of my son...Love this to death, as be my son...😢💔❤
This video and song together speaks volumes to the times we're in when it comes to relationships and how we are Gods and Goddesses trying to protect our own planets(hearts)...this is as real as it gets and The Weeknd didn't direct the video but it defines the lyrics of the song to the tee. Respect to a living legend.
Yo The Weeknd is the shit...you can tell he's been through some real shit and I think we all appreciate the way he expresses it...we who can relate just zone out to his music...can't explain it...
for all the people who are saying how this is a song about break up and cheating you're totally wrong. In the first of the video you can listen there is Amharic(the common language spoken in Ethopia) And the past president haile selassie being arrested and the the heart being throwed to the lions. I think this video is one of the most beautiful thing i ever seen and its way far for us to understand it. the weeknd is one of the kind singer and he is so underrated cause most of the people can't understand how deep this guy is.
Conor Rick Is he relating heartbreak felt from a woman to the heartbreak of a nation when Halie Selassie was overthrown by members of his council who were corrupted by western imperialist? I don't think i know much about Ethiopian history but i do know around this time that many other African nations were under European control in the form of colonization. I was hoping you could tell me more?
Conor Rick There is a great deal of occult symbolism in the video. I'm surprised no mention of the horned being in there who is Moloch, also symbolized by the owl you see showing up everywhere like the dollar bill, Will I Am videos, etc etc lol.. you see he's blinded or veiled as that symbolism is replete elsewhere, visits with 'aliens,' who should not be differentiated from Moloch or the other angels/angels - this brings up the image of Moloch shooting beams into the the divine femine (do not mistake the woman in the video for a human woman, we're talking about archetypal energies, and obviously female pertains to all animals/plants/etc), creating a certain geometry I can't recall the name of, but right angles of course. The inception of female menstruation, an act of her anger towards the divine masculine in retaliation for what he'd done when the world shifted from Lemuria (female ruled society) to Atlantis (male ruled society: obviously we are still in the age of Atlantis and America is the new Atlantis). Before then humans were androgynous and male/female were not separate, but now we get the vesica, separation, also synonymous with the reptilian Icke is talking about. Hardly about a break up lol although the metaphor obviously works on a more superficial level. You see the male/fire energy burning out, his obelisk/phallus/kundalini broken (inception of god - ask Muslims, they know their god is a fire god.. even tho christians worship the the same, they are mostly ignorant to this), then you see the water-baring females turning cold & icy, barren womb, brithing weak children (isis/$). Frustration, bottling, stagnation of emotions that are psychic blockages and an inversion/darkening of our life force in the faces of these people. The bovids shooting off into space lol(?) not sure on why they're taking off, possibly referring to mother government/mother church cutting humans from the original mother=Earth.. seems that imagery is supported by the very next image of beings landing looking like some occult types in the portrait. I can guarantee he did not orchestrate the symbolic storyline for this video on his own and that there was oversight by his handlers. He 'knows everything,' (at least he thinks it must be everything, cuz it's obviously more than most have any idea about) and he's not about to spell it out for anyone who isn't already in the know like myself who can watch subliminal programming like this and decode. 'The Weeknd,' is not an admirable character, he is weakened and will infect his listeners with his ailment no doubt.. nice voice and I do injoy his fondness for spacey/heavily reverbed beats and vocals, but what a waste.
In the distant future the year 16311(666) Abel (The Weeknd) (Depicted as a reincarnation, descendant or genetic recreation of Haile Selassie) is the world leader after Ethiopia became the planets super power and he was given power by aliens (Annunaki?). (Arc of the Covenant which is still rumored to nest in Ethiopia). He is betrayed by an un-loyal woman (Who sold her body and soul to the devil for wisdom and power) (Or chose to be the flesh rather than the spirit as the entity was also half man half beast) and as a painful revenge turns his body guards on her to do as they please (To her and her two clones?). The woman’s scorn divides the planet into two placing them worlds apart 233km (666). (Ancient text and theory mention things like this happening claiming the summit of Mt. Kilimanjaro was connected to another planet of sorts) Vengeful and seeking to destroy him she sends assassins to take his heart and once again remove Selassie from power. After successfully stealing his heart, the Annunaki return and revive him so that he may retrieve what is his and continue to be the king to the people that he is. Now depicted as a Christ like figure even the animals submit to him. (Selassie was said to ride a lion as a child) His heart was strong and only knew love, thus it was stronger than the woman’s scorn and hatred. After the woman’s numerous failed attempts at destroying Abel’s heart he arrives on her planet to retrieve his heart while weeping for her as Selassie is said to weep for his people. The video goes much deeper and has much more symbolism but that is it in a nut shell. Side Notes: Some symbolism that may get overlooked. •A Centaur is a symbol of the enlightened, those who are aware of the true self. (Those who know everything) •The Arc of the Covenant is a symbol of ultimate power. The one who controls it controls all. •Selassie is the embodiment of a black king, and viewed by many as a Christ •Owl’s represent wisdom (not evil) •Horns represent the devil. •666 is NOT an number of evil, rather reference to melanin (carbon) which consists of 6 protons 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. (Melanin frequently viewed as a powerful substance in metaphysical teachings) •When separated his phallus fell and her valley’s blew baron and cold •The seal over the mouth represent silence being broken, now he’s telling what he knows. “He knows everything” •A few hints at what roll Caucasians played in this story, when the seal over their mouth was broken people we murdered. •Three glowing rings on his hand represent the Holy Trinity. (Haile Selassie means “Power of the Trinity”) •More obvious are references to the lion of Juda •A brief clip of an assassins knife passing by as the temple crumbles indicates a set up of sorts This video deserves a university case study.
This was the first weeknd song I've ever heard. I cried tears. The year was 2011. Almost a decade later and I've yet to hear of an artist with this level of self expression. Maybe it's because no one can so beautifully paint pain like he can.
But how i been listening to this song since 2012 and now just discovered this bomb ass video. Istg The Weeknd speaks nothing but the truth in this video.
The video changed.... this wasn't the original video at all this is so weird. It went away for few years wasn't even on UA-cam and now it's back but they've changed it almost completely.. so strange
LaTanya Adkins this song is super depressing it's acknowledging that his lover cheated on him and instead of confronting them about it they both cheat on each other, and pretend everything is ok when really Abel is extremely hurt
this song will always hold a special place of my heart. i felt so many emotions with this song, went thru fucked up relationship problems with this song. to this day whenever i hear this song, it’s like i’m reliving everything lol. god bless abel xo
A real time capsule. When i listen to this track, it takes me back to a time i saw everything so diferrently. Grateful i could experience this when it came out.
It burdens me that people are sleeping on this video. When this video came out I knew that my favorite artist would be recognized one day. Although his new fans disregard these original pieces.
The goosebumps are just as intense today as they were nearly a decade ago, when I first heard this absolute masterpiece. Man, I can never get over this MV and the VISUALS. He’s a masterful storyteller. Love you forever Abel 🥀🖤
This is the safe place for us. All of us root fans... The ones who understand this video and all the symbology. The ones who understand how this all started. Before it became what it is right now. This is such a special place, isn’t it? Just look at this video...this is why we fell in love with Abel..
this was the first song I had heard by the Weeknd about 9 years ago. I'm so glad I found his music back then because I've seen him grow. It sounds silly but I'm so proud of him for making a living out of his natural talent and his ability to reach so many people with his music. Love you, Abel
The mother land, Africa. Only those with roots to the motherland have “The Knowing”. This melody (and many others through time) tricks you into believing you know everything. He who knew everything knew he knew nothing at all. The truth is only revealed in death. Create your reality, Love your truth. Even if in the end it’s all a lie.
I miss the times and memories associated with his older stuff. I appreciated his growth as an artist throughout the years, and have appreciated the life soundtrack. Recent heartache has brought me to relive and relove the original mixtapes. Keep the hits coming brother. Much love
This was the best spirtual knowledge anyone could share.. The meaning behind this video is so powerful.. He shared LIFE'S existence so this was over many heads... He just showed you literally the truth about how we were created in under 10 mins... He literally knows EVERYTHING!!! I cried once I fully comprehended this video..
People ignore the fact that the truth and explanation of this video is in the title itself “The Knowing”. People think the video is a mess because it’s not a cliche heartbreak video. It’s one of the most creative and deepest videos out there. Glad to see a few of us are woke
This song for sure helped me move on from a haunting heart break. The feels are good on this track my friends! This song should make a comeback well after we’re all gone. 🎈🏠🎉

Jeremiah 23. It’s the answer for all of us. The battle is already won, we’re just watching them fail and lose and fall. It’s more painful for us to watch cause we already won, praise God.
this gives me chills every time I hear it. I can't believe its only at five million views compared to his more popular songs. This deserves so much more attention. Abel truly shows his genius with this beautiful abstract portrayal.
people like spoon fed music, this song is pure art, brings joy hope, and sadness. especially when someone betrayed you, whether if they cheated or backstabbing etc
Back in high school one summer night my cousin and I took lsd together and I remember vividly how amazing this song/video was. I was already a hard core fan but after that trip it just made me appreciate his music n music in general
He is a good example of people thinking he was a nobody and the universe turning him into a somebody. It’s not a common path. But I feel it through his music.
It's wild to see the decline. In the western world designer items are status symbols. To a certain group, luckily we've met them work with them in the diaspora, physical activity all sorts are reserved for the wealthy. I wouldn't smile too much when you meet these people, you might lose alot of weight because eating is a symbol of wealth not just specialty foods or healthy. I like the concept because I'd send the worse among this. If your there for tourism and things don't work out, I'm not calling the U.N. You algorithms there through natural means. 😊 If not somebody knew waaaayyyyyy too much! 😊
I love when he give out I KNOW EVERYTHING towards the end it’s sounds so cinematic and feels he’s going to release a dark energy blast. P.S this is my favorite Weeknd song
I remember seeing him at the house of blues in Houston back in 2012. Small crowd , about 500 people. Lit up a joint while this song came on I knew he was gonna blow up anytime soon so I enjoyed that feeling of him doing that personal performance

Super Louie bittersweet is spot on. it hurts but in a good way
That knew SnowChild vid be giving me stills of those vibes
As much as I love Trilogy, I don't think he should ever go back to his Trilogy mindset in reality. He was really fucked up when he made these tracks, and I would never wish someone to go back to a darker part in their lives to make 'better sounding music'.
Well said. I agree
I love Weekend, so I agree mostly except the video part. Check out Tool, all there videos are like this😏
I cry so much every time I hear this. I can't understand how Abel created something so beautiful. I’m blessed.

Why the fuck you crying. It's just his visualisation of book of enoch pt.1 and some of part 2. That didn't make sense to cry lol.
This feeling is smthng different omfg
2020 and this song still hits me and transmits me so much. Simply a masterpiece.

Unpopular opinion, but I truly think this is one of The Weeknd’s best songs

Agree !
That's not an unpopular opinion at all haha. In fact, I think this is his best song yet.

Love this

The fact that this has only 7.6 million views amazes me. Such a beautiful song and the deeper meaning behind this music video is insane.
Right though, I feel this song may not be for everyone

Longer music videos are always the ones with less views, it seems, and it’s quite sad, really.

I swear if Abel wasn’t shy then and had the budget, he would’ve made this an actual short movie.
It already IS an actual short movie, the animation is beautiful!

I've come to realize that people who are immature don't like and/or can't connect to this very talented man's songs. I applaud those of you who are mature and can relate to this amazing artist. Best artist of the modern day. Go Abel.
You do know you're coming off as pretentiously immature, right?
I'm immature and I love this song. Did I break the matrix?
i don't think so, i could never think of myself as 'mature' because then i would get ideas about feeling old or boring. i listen to this when i want to connect with music on a deep personal level, or to relax, i listen to other types of music for different vibes, i don't think being mature or immature has much to do with it at all really, its merely an appreciation of a chosen artist that brought people here. shake away your judgements and become at peace with yourself instead of judging others
this song sucks ass juice from a dead Dingo
DevilsBathtub only you would know what that taste like.
Once you hear the 'Trilogy', you can never go back... 'Beauty Behind the Madness' is the surface depth of Abel's abilities. And I thought 'Beauty Behind the Madness' was a good album. His older works make that stark in comparison.
Completely agree. I feel like Trilogy and Kiss Land are the only albums I can listen to anymore, anything else just feels..wrong
Really? I felt like BBTM was on par with his other works. The only exception would maybe be House of Balloons. Idk, maybe I'm crazy.

We were and are still the early number fans.
this song has a meaning i could never explain and it’s such a painful one, yet i will always have a bond with it.

Best song on this album, out of the entire trilogy for me.

for all the people who are saying how this is a song about break up and cheating you're totally wrong.
Amen!!!
Conor Rick seen you again lol.
Eddy Ruiz lol where was the first time 😂😂??
Side Notes:
Some symbolism that may get overlooked.
•A Centaur is a symbol of the enlightened, those who are aware of the true self. (Those who know everything)
•The Arc of the Covenant is a symbol of ultimate power. The one who controls it controls all.
•Selassie is the embodiment of a black king, and viewed by many as a Christ
•Owl’s represent wisdom (not evil)
•Horns represent the devil.
•666 is NOT an number of evil, rather reference to melanin (carbon) which consists of 6 protons 6 neutrons and 6 electrons. (Melanin frequently viewed as a powerful substance in metaphysical teachings)
•When separated his phallus fell and her valley’s blew baron and cold
•The seal over the mouth represent silence being broken, now he’s telling what he knows. “He knows everything”
•A few hints at what roll Caucasians played in this story, when the seal over their mouth was broken people we murdered.
•Three glowing rings on his hand represent the Holy Trinity. (Haile Selassie means “Power of the Trinity”)
•More obvious are references to the lion of Juda
•A brief clip of an assassins knife passing by as the temple crumbles indicates a set up of sorts
This video deserves a university case study.

This was the first weeknd song I've ever heard. I cried tears. The year was 2011. Almost a decade later and I've yet to hear of an artist with this level of self expression. Maybe it's because no one can so beautifully paint pain like he can.

Take a look at what you did
You probably thought that you'd break my heart (oh, oh-oh-oh)
You probably thought that you'd make me cry
But baby it's okay
I swear it's okay, yeah
'Cause I know everything (everything)
Yeah
I know everything (everything), yeah yeah
I know everything (everything), yeah
I know everything (everything), yeah yeah
Now these tops don't twist like they did before
It's hard to keep me up
And you are done
But baby it don't hurt
Oh, like you thought it would
The more of you, the merrier
Now we're lying about the nights
(Ohh) Hiding it all behind the smiles
Take a look at what you did, ooh hey
You probably thought that you'd break my heart (ooh)
You probably thought that you'd make me cry (ooh)
But baby it's okay
It's okay
Ay, I know everything (everything), yeah hey
Everything, yeah
I know everything (everything), hey
I know everything (everything)
Jeremiah 23. It’s the answer for all of us. The battle is already won, we’re just watching them fail and lose and fall. It’s more painful for us to watch cause we already won, praise God.
explain more please 🙏🏿
@@ok-nx3pwgod fights our battles so we just watch the other side get beat and we can’t do nothing but watch it all go down.
this song sounds unreal when your high
this gives me chills every time I hear it.
I got to know Abel's music after Blinding Lights. Now, he's my all time favourite Artist.
I'm sad that I missed this era of The Weeknd.
same
same :/
You didn't miss it if you're listening to it! This will always be a classic
This was never popularized
Good times. Day one fan here.
The weeknd is deeply connected to his roots of the Abesha.
Lam rof bitch what
Josselyn xo it's an Ethiopian thing, you wouldn't understand.
Josselyn xo lmao youre ignorant. do you even get all the symbolism from the video?
ox Josselyn - what?
Do you mean habesha? lmao i’m ethiopian
He is a good example of people thinking he was a nobody and the universe turning him into a somebody. It’s not a common path. But I feel it through his music.
We're under siege
The creativity in this song and this insane music video is absolutely stunning. I am of Ethiopian and Eritrean descent and this video is historical
I continue to find myself back to this song. Words cant explain how great this song is.
What's your ig
I love when he give out I KNOW EVERYTHING towards the end it’s sounds so cinematic and feels he’s going to release a dark energy blast. P.S this is my favorite Weeknd song
WARNING: Don't ever listen to this while being on a break up😭
Gotta face those shadows man
To the contrary, LISTEN TO THIS ON REPEAT!
I Learn the hard way
Good thing I’m ugly
It's too late, cuz I knowwww everythingggggg she did
I remember seeing him at the house of blues in Houston back in 2012. Small crowd , about 500 people. Lit up a joint while this song came on I knew he was gonna blow up anytime soon so I enjoyed that feeling of him doing that personal performance
How lucky you're bro
It hits different when you depressed 🙏🏽
It's ok guys no fake xo fans will find us here

"Right person, wrong time, you know the deal”
I remember when this came out ... I found out my girl cheated and played this for a while before I told her... she hated this song...
It’s Just Dorian she didn't deserve you

Told her what?
