    I just ordered these because I think they’re great but the one downside I see to these is how it mounts to the actual cab instead of being bolted straight to the truck frame , I wish they were built like rock sliders on 4 x 4 vehicles, which mount directly to the frame, making them much more sturdy if you hit anything it will not bend the cab if you run over anything. That’s why I will be making/welding on my own mounting brackets straight off the frame. I realize this is probably overkill for the average person but for me it’s a must for when I go 4wheeling/ hunting etc.

      I have to say I was a little excited about seeing a 2022 on the dealership’s lot. There was not one truck available with in two hundred miles. So of coarse I jumped on it. I expected it would have the same options like my last truck. WRONG!! However, we love our truck. Less options less things to worry about. We got what we needed a dependable tow vehicle. Plus we did not have spend $70,000 for special options. I felt bad for Rhonda not having a lumbar support that was the only thing I wish I caught. We luckily found a good alternative.
      The running boards: I have to admit I looked at tons of running boards. These looked the best!! Rhonda had the last decision. I wanted some other ones and Rhonda said no way!! Then I saw them on another truck and they looked horrible. So I feel for the money I have the best looking ones on the market. Thanks Jim. If you need anything let us know! Stan and Rhonda

    We ordered our 21 F350 Lariat, which is level 3 in Ford’s lineup (King Ranch & Platinum over, XLT & XL under). Both front seats electric w/lumbar, heat/cool, rear heated. Judy’s short ltoo, so adjustable pedals help her ( memory drivers seat & ext mirrors keep me from being squished upon entry). Heated steering wheel/rain sensing wipers were $165 option. Block heater on 7.3 gas, hard tonneau, bed sprayed, camper prep, skid plates, 4x, all LED yadda yadda, &63k. Running boards are Luverne 7" Grip Step Wheel To Wheel Running Boards $670. Also ordered the Ultimate trailer pkg which incl rear camera & real TPMS for trailer, integrated w/OEM display & warning system. I left the optional off road tires on, have triple peak Wilderness to install when these wear out. This is my last truck so ordered what I wanted, used Costco auto buy program. Bottom line, IMO at our age no matter what truck, it’s super important to be happy with what you buy! Thanks for a great discussion. My wife is "vertically challenged" and running boards are a must. Even so, she still needs a step stool to get up onto the running boards because of arthritic knees and hip. A collapsible folding step stool fits the bill perfectly. I am looking for a way to attach a strap to raise and lower it easily for her. Once collapsed, it slides right under the seat out of the way.
    Now, I am looking for a booster pad for her non-powered seat so she can get a better view over the dashboard. Any suggestions?

    • @OverTheHillAdventures
      @OverTheHillAdventures  2 роки тому

      Hi Robert, I (Rhonda) think we own that exact collapsible folding step stool. I use it in the kitchen of our travel trailer to get into the top shelves. I get the "vertically challenged" concern for sure. Sounds like you have resolved the issue for your wife being able to get in and out of the truck between the running boards and the step stool. We recall you have the same 2022 truck as we do. How are you enjoying it otherwise? As far as the booster pad for the NON-powered seat there appears to be many options on Amazon, but we can send you a link to check out a few. We are Amazon Affiliates so if you use our link and then purchase ANY items, we may earn a small commission from Amazon directly and you have to do nothing extra. Stan's mom was a very tiny woman and I can remember her using these to see better over the dash. I may be considering one as well especially for the truck. Let us know what you end up doing and how it works out for your wife. Blessings to you both! Rhonda and Stan

      @@OverTheHillAdventures - We don't have the EXACT same truck as yours (yours is a Z-71 and white; ours is not a Z-71 and is Silver Ice Metallic), otherwise, they are pretty much the same truck. So far, so good with it. It is slowly breaking in and is now averaging 17 - 18 mpg mixed driving in hills. You can always tell when it goes into a regen cycle: the mileage gets lousy for about 20 minutes then comes back up again. I've used the winter cover a couple of times during really cold weather (below 30°F) and it helps the truck warm up more quickly.
      Thanks for the Amazon link. I will check it out today. She needs about a two-inch boost to compensate. Besides the height of the seat, a hard seat bothers her after an hour or so (arthritic hip + sciatica), which is why we got cloth as opposed to leather seats this time. Her tush still bothers her but not as badly. A cushioned booster will help her a lot.
      Keep us posted on how it tows your trailer. We are preparing for a trip to the Michigan UP in August then a visit to my brother's place on the homeward leg. Exactly!!! I 100% agree. My last truck was an LT and had all the options except for the leather seats. We did not want leather. I was waiting for someone to comment about it. Absolutely ridiculous the LT comes with work truck lights. That was one of the things I missed when I bought the truck. I would of still bought the truck. The new LT truck doesn’t come with the Auto AWD option just 4H and 4L. It makes no sense!! Would I spend another 10 grand for LED lights to step up to the LTZ absolutely not!! Shayne thank you for this great comment. It was not petty at all. I can look at the silver lining and say less options less problems to worry about it. That’s why I made this video I think Chevrolet has given the consumer the short end of the stick and it needs to be noted. Very disappointed in Chevrolet!! Tinted the side windows (A Must for Reno/Carson Area in summer). Going to have the bed sprayed ($495) and the big $ will bee the camper shell due to the price of fiberglass/MFR etc. So far, love the Duramax and Allison. I love my 2020 6.6L gas LT Z71 as well. As you found out, there are many “packages” that bundle any number of options together. It is too bad that they don’t have electric seating for passenger, but there are many auto specialty businesses that could make that happen. I love my AutoTrac option and heated steering wheel and seats (use it in gravel roads and all through winter here in Alberta). I could go on, now experiencing ~17 mpg Hwy unloaded (includes ~250 lbs. gear inside my truck and in my GM in-the-box Side Storage Boxes that come as a pair - you should check those out, very convenient leaving me 4ft. I actually installed aftermarket amber Fog Lights from Diode Dynamics. During install, accessing that 3rd bolt of the housing, one literally has to remove parts all the way and including the front bumper (a 2-4 hr. job), depending how good one is with that DIY stuff. towing over your weight limit of your truck. God forbid anything were to happen, but if you got in an accident and they find out you were towing over weight you could be liable.
