That bass player is Ronnie Lane who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1977. He died in 1997 at aged 51. For his work in both Small Faces and Faces, Lane was inducted posthumously into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2012.
Love this, but it's making me feel, well, old.......... as I saw these guys perform in 1969 or 70. Thanks for your reaction Shawn.....and I hope your crew of 18k followers will look forward to many more reactions.
You see a very young Ronnie Wood on lead guitar. He would later join Mick and The Boys (The Rolling Stones) as their lead guitarist next to Keth Richards. So many of these guys played in multiple Bands in the "Classic Rock" era.
Rod Stewart, Ron Wood joined Small Faces after Steve Marriott left to join Humble Pie. They came from the Jeff Beck Band. They changed the name to Faces and when Rod Stewart became a superstar they went by Rod Stewart and Faces. Rod would go onto a solo career and Ron Wood would leave to join the Rolling Stones after Mick Taylor left. Kenny Jones the drummer would join The Who after the death of Keith Moon. They have two great songs that I've always enjoyed alot: Ooh La La and Around the Plynth(a tribute to Rod and Ronnie's days with the Jeff Beck Band). A great album to find is Snakes and Ladders: the Best of Faces and A Nod is as Good as a Wink....to a Blind Horse.
A Nod's as Good as a Wink...To a Blind Horse is the first album (on vinyl) I bought with my own money. I still have it and still love it all these years later. All killa no filla. They are seriously good.
One of their most fun songs, with very comical lyrics. Probably couldn't get away with it today, sadly, but in the early '70's casual sex, drinking, and drugs were widely accepted (and really a lot of fun!!). The name of this album was A Nod Is As Good As a Wink to a Blind Horse. Those were the days!
Did you catch of glimpse of Ronnie Wood?? He played with Rod Stewart and Faces before joining the Rolling Stones. Rod Stewart was my teenage crush...I'm so freakin old🤣🤣
I saw Rod and Faces on their farewell tour, March 1975 I think it was, Seattle, UW's Hec Ed basketball pavilion. One of the best concerts I've ever seen. Rod, in particular, was at the top of his game.
The Small Faces (1865-69) , then Faces, (1969-'75+ reunions) and Rod Stewart himself (recording, singing since 1961) Both the Small F' and Faces were inducted to the Rock Hall in 2012.
You're one of the best music reactors, with good musical taste and common sense and familiarity with common knowledge, and a sweet and pleasant personality. Do you know how rare on UA-cam it is for anyone to have all those good qualities? I hope you keep reacting. It may be because I'm selfish buti I still hope you do because you really are one of the best. Much love. ❤
Great tune! Sorry to see you go, if that's what you choose. I know it's a lot of work for little or no reward at this point. Good luck with whatever you may pursue!!
This is one of the great live performances of the 70s. Watch Rod almost knock Ronnie Lane out with the mike stand right around the 1:00 mark. Rock and roll.
This is on my short list of greatest power rock tunes, right next to "Won't Get Fooled Again," "Revolution," "Dream On," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Promises In the Dark" and "Born to Run."
This song is over 50 years old. It came out when I was ...in 5th grade. 50 years old from then, would have to be like ...wow, 1920? They hardly recorded then. But apart from sing-a-longs as a child, I know nothing at all from that era. But, of, course this was recorded in pretty high fidelity. Which is great.
The Faces were one of the genuinely great rock bands of all time. They were NEVER a backing band. There was The Small Faces, then Steve Marriott left, then Rod Stewart and Ronnie Wood joined, and then they dropped the 'small' and simply became The Faces.
Hey Shawn, You seem to get some good information on songs that other reactionists aren't listening to. There's an album by Rod Stewart titled "Night on the Town", With some top rockers. that are, uh...kind of direct, male songs if you will. Like this song was. Definitely more for male taste. 1."The Balltrap" 2. "Big Bayou" 3. "The Wild Side of Life" The album cover is a Renoir copy, except Rod's face is in there. Total rockers. Here's a sample lyric from The Ball Trap... I'd rather see dead with a rope around your neck,r see a paralyzed in both Of your thighs, come back, baby. Let's get naked tonight. That's just for starters. It's been was since I heard them, That's where I'm headed right now. Love you channel man!
Faces started out as a band in their own right after Steve Marriot left and Ronnie Wood and Rod Stewart joined. But Rod had his own parallel solo career. Eventually Rod's solo career outgrew Faces and it appeared that they were his backing band, which I believe was one of the reasons for the eventual break up of the group. I think Rod and Faces were kind of proto punk rockers, well before punk rock arrived in 1976 (in the UK that is).I was 13 or 14 when they came out and was mad for them for a while, until Rod went down a slightly showbizzy road after he met Britt Ekland.
The last verse on the studio version is different and contains one of the best chat up lines ever 🤣: "So, in the mornin', please don't say you love me 'Cause you know I'll only kick you out the door Yeah, I'll pay your cab fare home You can even use my best cologne Just don't be here in the mornin' when I wake up"
Aw too bad you didn't do the original studio version. KILLER KILLER version and my all time favorite song. This one is..... he changed the arrangement, tempo, and some lyrics and is just ok
Please don’t stop doing reaction videos. (even one per day would be OK)
Even a couple a week… it would be so nice to keep on experiencing your sheer love of these older songs!

I did not know he died so young. Thanks for the info, most sincerely
Ronnie Wood was in the band
I thought I recognized him!!!
Love this, but it's making me feel, well, old.......... as I saw these guys perform in 1969 or 70.

This was fabulous takes me back thanks for this reaction ❤ x
The original lineup of the Faces was amazing! Of course, Rod can turn anything into gold!
Absolutely love this band and this performance ❤😊.
Every Picture Tells a Story, Don't It?

...and don't forget Ronnie Laine...a rock and roll god in his own right.
@@timothyburns815 yes I did leave out Ronnie Lane. He was a great one. Thank you for the rememberance. May he and Ian MacLagan rest in peace.
A Nod's as Good as a Wink...To a Blind Horse is the first album (on vinyl) I bought with my own money. I still have it and still love it all these years later. All killa no filla. They are seriously good.
Great song and a Great Reaction as always!💜
That is, of course, Ronnie Wood later of the Stones, on guitar. They were a really great rock band.
They do an incredible live version of Maybe I’m Amazed.

LMBO. Too funny,👍
Rod Stewart is a living legend in my opinion with a very distinct voice. Great song from an awesome talent.
Sure hope you keep growing on your magical musical journey…. Being a boomer I can tell you you’ve barely just begun ❤
Nicky Hopkins on keys, what a great band. Gasoline Alley is one of my favorites.
It's Ian mcclagan on keys, not nicky...Ian was an original small faces/ faces musician
The Small Faces (1865-69) , then Faces, (1969-'75+ reunions) and Rod Stewart himself (recording, singing since 1961) Both the Small F' and Faces were inducted to the Rock Hall in 2012.
Rod Stewart and Faces were huge and had a ton of airplay.
Check out their cover of Paul McCartney's "Maybe I'm Amazed." It's great!
I have always just loved this man !!!

Agreed, this was a jam man, flawless w/ Rod on vocals...fantastic.
This was 1972 and I was a sophomore in high school! Just getting into pop music.
The tempo changing in this song gets me every time. Love it! Rod’s early stuff was fire! I had 45s. The First Cut is the Deepest my favorite.
love the faces just awesome! dang i am old!
Great song! So happy you reacted to this one, i5s been ages since I heard it!
Ooh LaLa is another great track from Faces ❤ (1973)
Such a poignant song, with Ron Wood on vocals no less.
Great tune! Sorry to see you go, if that's what you choose. I know it's a lot of work for little or no reward at this point. Good luck with whatever you may pursue!!

They really embodied everything good about rock ‘n roll in it’s heyday, legends.
One of my favourite songs ever!
Really, basically the best bar band of all time.
I love this. The lady trying to dance is hilarious
You know Rod Stewart performed at the largest ever rock concert? The Copacabana in Brazil est. 3.5 to 4.2 million people.
This is on my short list of greatest power rock tunes, right next to "Won't Get Fooled Again," "Revolution," "Dream On," "Sympathy for the Devil," "Promises In the Dark" and "Born to Run."

Saw them in 1972 in Philly. 1st tour with new bassist.
Considered by many to be the finest rock band in the World for an all too short time before Rod Stewart gave up real music!😎
It should be just "Faces". There are clips of Faces with Keith Richards jamming with them.
I enjoy your reactions.
♥♥♥
Kenny Jones on the Drums.
Rod Stewart was such a Rock star in his early days, with Jeff beck group as well, sadly he went kinda of sappy pop and disco a few years later
Great old rock 😊

Ron Wood. Ronny Laine. Classic.
The 1970s were a golden cornucopia of musical goodness
Ronnie Wood is the Swiss Army Knife of Guitarists.
That made him perfect for the Stones.
❤❤❤
Hey "Smiley Dude"!!!!😊❤
Shawn, good reaction.Suggest: ...."Thunder and lightning" by Chi Coltrane....."99 Red Balloons" "Rette Mich" "Lechtrum" by Nena
It's just The Faces. Simple as that. The Faces and The Small Faces were two separate, and very different bands.

Have to love Ronnie Wood on guitar. Rod Stewart was devastated when he left the Faces to replace Mick Taylor in The Rolling Stones.
😊😊😊😊
The last verse on the studio version is different and contains one of the best chat up lines ever 🤣:
"So, in the mornin', please don't say you love me
'Cause you know I'll only kick you out the door

The only version I ever heard til today😮
Aw too bad you didn't do the original studio version. KILLER KILLER version and my all time favorite song. This one is..... he changed the arrangement, tempo, and some lyrics and is just ok
A great version of I Know I'm Losing You from this same show
DOWNTOWN TRAIN is another one by Rod Stewart
That’s Ronnie Wood on guitar
If a Martian asked me to play a rock and roll song, I think I'd play this.
I liked Rod Stewart more in his earlier years when he sang Wake Up Maggie! “ this is ok, but It’s a little boring. LoL! 💛💛
Never a backing band... Rod was one of their singers. Sacreligious to say that.
Hmm never heard this version
Not bad at all
