I was scared the whole time. I recognized a lot of parts that broke on my old Passat.
I'm considering a B6 gen Audi A4. I wonder how these bits hold up? I know the ac vents and some of the center console button tend to fade. Will I start hearing rattles eventually?
@UCNXrQyxHQwv4cEgn3nKibmQ makes sense. I had a Peugeot 406 D9 (facelift).. Lovely car to own but the tropical climate and heat took its toll on some bits and trim. I'm told VAG/German cars tend to have more solid bits inside.
@@ridhwanramzi4773 yes, you will. Mine was so cracked that I had to put tiny pieces of paper arround the dash to minimize the rattles. But you will have to try it for yourself. My car vibrated a bit more than usual.

Did you see those glove box struts? Mine just drops like a sack of hammers in my allroad.

I have a 2003 Audi TT. The only things that needed replacement was a broken thermostat button (replaced), and the "ceiling fabric". The leather seats, will probably need some care later on. I already patched a hole on one; shove a piece of leather into the hole, work it to expand it, and then squirt some leather glue into the hole and work it around. After that, let it dry up for you to a week.

That might be the case but wow what a gem to find an rs6 avant with such low miles!
I had a 2005 A4 Cabrio and it was just lovely inside. Not flashy or glitzy, just elegant and well made. I miss that car.

I agree, my father drives a 2001 A8 D2 2.5TDI Quattro (the 180hp) with about 450k km on the clock and it's still pretty much like new, the only big problems are the rubbery-like parts (like the internal material of the internal door handles) that become a bit sticky, and the ceiling material that comes off, but that's a common problem with older Audi's

I work as a mechanic at a VW/Audi dealership. They're not built like tanks trust me
My mom has a 06 Audi A4. She took very good care of that car and some factory interior protection film is still left on lol. The interior quality is really nice and feels solid. I especially like the gauges on that car. I think the old A4 also rides stiffer than the newer ones (good for the driver, bad for the passenger......)

Not gonna lie, that's kinda the sweet spot era for me for car interiors. You still have manual switches and buttons for everything, I love various folding and retracting elements, and it isn't all touchscreen or built into the steering wheel. Sounds solid and I want to drive it now!
Yeah, this doesn't prove anything, like you said, it only has 20k miles. That's new car usage. I have more miles on my 2020 BMW 3 series. Ha sit inside a 2003 golf and then the latest mk8, or a 1999 Fabia vs the latest one and say that
@@Olliebobalong I did, actually. Also, if we compare the build quality, then in order to be fair, we must not compare a used, old car with hundreds of thousands of kms with a factory new car. We must look at how good the quality of the old cars was back when they were new, and back then the quality was awesome. Reliabilitywise, it is even worse. Cars with engines such as the 1.9 TDI with a rotary pump etc. were almost indestructible. Then cars like the B6 Passat came and to this day, there were always some engine problems. Awful 1.6 FSI and 2.0 FSI, EA888 (1.8 TSI [TFSI] and 2.0 TSI [TFSI]) engines were a disaster that needed expensive repairs after just 60 000 kms (they’re better nowadays, but still very complicated), EA111 TSI never ending timing chain issues, 2.0 TDI-PD is just a bummer, 2.5 TDI, 5.0 TDI and 6.0 TDI are probably even worse, 1.4 TSI Twincharger will ruin you and the risky EA189 1.6 TDI and 2.0 TDI are no fun to own either (may have forgotten some other disastrous VW engines from the past 15 or so years). And these are just the engines. VW indeed went downhill in the last years.
